The thing I found interesting, that I think people might have glanced past... when Positron asked "Can I tell them about no more war walls" and someone told him "no", I don't think he was just talking about Praetoria....

I'm thinking that there might not be an actual reason to have war walls anymore. I mean, the Rikti always get in, and if they set each area to zone you into another zone... there really would be no need for them anymore.

pohsyb: so of all people you must be most excited about the veats
Arachnos Commander: actually, I am
pohsyb: I mean you kinda were one already anyways ^_^

That would be nice. I wonder if they're going to just open it up entirely, say the entire north side of Kings Row is the entrance for Galaxy City or still make you find the spot where the tunnel was in order to move between zones. Seems like dropping the walls themselves and leaving some sort of tunnel or gate would be simpler to implement.

Oh geez. I would love it if Paragon City finally got rid of those terrible War Walls.

Well, I have no questions, as most of them have already been answered.

Going Rogue could not come out soon enough though. At least I'll have Super Street Fighter 4 to keep me busy (but that doesn't come out till near the end of April......LOL)

Guess I'll just see how many characters I can bring to 50 (legit leveling) until it hits.

The issue with removing the war walls entirely would be that what we see of one war wall doesn't back directly onto the war wall on the other side. There's a lot of city in between what we know as city zones. I cannot remember if these buildings are residential or destroyed (I know they appear fine when you look through the war walls), but they'd have to add that in. Between all of the zones.

Also, I don't know where hazard zones fall in all of this. While war walls don't exist to contain them, we'd probably have to keep the solid part of the wall at least. It helps enforce who can get in and who can't.

I don't really know how I'd feel about the war walls coming down. It would be a big enough change to get some kind of opinion out of me, of course. But I've grown fond of them, and haven't ever seen the issue that other people seem to have with them.

I don't have a huge issue with them, but they do seem like they're only there to establish zones and boundaries. More than anything else, it kind of mars the skyline.

Take Peregrine (or the Rogue)Isle(s) for example. There's no sudden giant wall visually blocking you from the edge(though, the Rogue Isles do have walls that appear when you reach an edge), it looks more open, even though you know there's a boundary, it doesn't readily look like there is.

It's entirely an aesthetic thing to me.

I find it functionally appealing, myself. Given the relative same-ness of urban environments, it can help a lot, especially for new players. I remember playing MxO and walking into the "bad" part of town (ie, everything was level "I keeel you") more often than I'd like to admit.

Yeah, but they can accomplish the same thing in the Rogue Isles. Areas are still blocked off, it just doesn't look like it until you reach the edge.

There's actually no boundary between Peregrine and Talos.

There's one specific reason I love the war walls.

Go to Baumton and fly fairly higher then most of the burned buildings. Wait, and as the sun begins the set, the war walls slowly turn into a brighter and more vibrant orange. Sure, it looks like the city is on fire, but the color is SO amazingly pretty.

There kind of is, in that you just start loading the new zone when you reach the edge.

Which is funny, because the same exact thing came up at HeroCon and the same exact answer was given.

Oh, and Kinetic Melee... I waaaaant.

So for those of you who were there...
Mr P Nut was the one who originally asked the question about the Defender inherent. He gave a shout out to both the Paragonian Knights and Virtue while at the mic.
I was the one in the front row who turned around and took a picture of the crowd, telling everyone my wife hates gamers, and to say hi & smile!
It was an awesome panel...I'm only sorry it went by so fast.
We will be at the Meet & Greet tonight so see you all there!

I very much doubt that - I think it's way more likely they're going to refocus bases as social and PvE things, rather than the customizable PvP maps with storage and TP extras that we have now.

that really depends there are a few games nothing major that use this

It'd be quite posisble to retcon the city map, and simply join the current zones together, and add any filler scenary if it was needed - and maybe shift the exact loactions of some zones a bit too.

For example, move Atlas and Skyway a little more to the north, so they'd fit better with Perez, Steel and Kings Row.

I think they'd be kept - it's make sens from an in-game point of view to have the most dangerous zones still being sealed off.

I think it'd be great - it'd also solve the empty zone problem with places like Boomtown - it'd just become a northern extension of Steel Canyon, with a new filler bit for the bridge over the river that separates them.

So that looks more like weird martial arts ki-blast than telekinetic blast, and more knockdown than knockback. Not that I'm complaining really. Looks like fun.
