More than vader does, anyway... Especially with that special "Backroom Diplomacy and Protocol" upgrade Luke's been considering for him...

I don't think it's a big risk. How would a wannabe SG spammer get names of offline characters? It's easier to do what they do today, stand in Mercy/Atlas and spam invites to new lowbie characters.

Of course, that would mean updating the vault to allow recipes as well, and a field for adding in influence/infamy. Still, it would be a less cumbersome process
Difference: You'd have to travel to the vault. Email is accessible from anywhere.

It's a matter of convenience.

I have no problem with and ability to either promote/demote via an e-mail.
This could be prevented by implementing a rule that specified that a given group could only extend X number of invites per day via email.

Example: Paragon Defense League has 15 members, and wishes to extend its roster. However, across its entire roster, no more than 5 invites may be extended via email per day. Spamming problem solved.

You might lift the rule for alts, but if an invite is sent to any global name that is not already in the group, it counts towards the 5 message per day limit.

Just one question.

Will we be able to send inf, enhancements, etc across servers or just between alts on same server?

Half my alts are on Union and other half is on Defiant - will I be able to send inf from Union alt to Defiant one and vice versa?

(Haven't read all 13 pages so I don't know if anyone already asked that)

Unless they add mailboxes.

Hmm...I might have to give you that one. Maybe

Actually it would be so much easier and better to simply take a page from the email spam fix and add a toggle off to any SG invites sent to you. Let them send as many invites as they like, I won't receive a single one this way.

While I'm here, I want to bring up the oddity of the SG mass email being limited to once per day. This seems very odd. It would be better to let each SG determine for themselves just how many mass emails it wants to allow any given RANK to send per day. Just add this to the SG permissions screen.

They've had such a switch for ages; look in Options, under Miscellaneous I think.

You know thinking about it...I'm all for emailing (and promoting/demoting) SG invites through email but....

Whatever happened to having SGs use globals and not character names? I thought that was one of the things that they were 'working on' (or maybe just 'wanted to work on'? :/). That way you could free up the whole "SG is full" issues because it'd be looking for 75 globals and not 75 toons (with maybe 50+ of those toons being alts of 3-4 people).

Vote yes for global SGs!

Just to be clear, that is for SG invites while you are logged on.
My comment was made in reference to the SG invites sent to you via email.

The Devs rewrote the entire mail system, just putting out there that including an opt out toggle from receiving SG invites via email would be a good thing to have.

Which seems terribly unlikely. How about 'unless they only make mail accessible at the character select screen?' i think it's just as likely.

It kind of sounds like trying to invent problems out of whole cloth to justify the otherwise unnecessary and less useful solution.

As long as we had the option to opt-in to that system (I suppose opt-out would be okay too, though i really think it should be opt-in), that'd be pretty awesome. Maybe we could also customize the lines the character would say during the fight (within censor filter limits, of course), to help further personalize it.

Could this be used as a form of denial-of-service attack? I buy 20 Training enhancements and send them to you; now you can't receive email until you delete them.

Not sure why anybody would want to do this, but somebody will come up with something....

Valid attachments are Enhancements, Salvage, Recipes and Inspirations if they are tradeable (buyable on AH). One per email. Inf can be sent alongside item.

There will be 20 mail cap to inbox. Mails sent to full mailbox will bounce (bounced mails can exceed cap). If you are at the cap you cannot send mails.

Items with attachments cannot be deleted until attachment is claimed. They can be returned to sender.
Ok now I can finally fully return to the game. This is the one feature I been begging for since day one. I was going to quit CoX for good if this feature wasnt in by GR.

Small Edit. I just want to ask who is responsible for this feature. Who ever it is I want to send them something. Pie, cake, money, I dont care, they deserve something big for this. You guys just dont know how big this feature is for me. Just give me the name and address of the person who coded this and I will send them something.

Well, to be honest if they put me in charge of the doppleganger system, I wouldn't make you fight your exact equal, I would make you fight your exact opposite. So the super-defense tanker would go up against the ultra-ultra-firepower blaster.

Or a toggle-cracking gravity controller. There ain't gonna be no draws in my doppleganger system. If you want to hokey-pokey with superpowers, we have pylons for that.

I hope the cap is on emails with attachments, rather than emails period. I can understand the limit on attachments (they can be used as a form of global self-storage) but there's no reason to bounce emails without attachments if you have 20 emails with attachments.

Second, this mechanism isn't just to send stuff to your own alts. You can send things to other accounts too, so it's more flexible than a vault could be.
Actually, I'm fairly certain that the initial post by Poshyb said that you were limited to one item per attachment. Of course, its quite possible I misread that.

And yes, it does give you the ability to send to other people, which is nice.

How about adding it to the rt-click drop down window for people in you global.

I don't know how many times I've gone to my global list, or rt-clicked on someone ingame, expecting to see an email option.

And there are those who go in a completely different direction for their evil opposite. My main is a classic big n' tough guy (WP/SS). Instead of just going SS/WP Brute, I decided the mirror would instead pick up weapons and back up, and became Mercs/Traps.

I'm just quoting this for the inevitable poster who comes to this thread saying it isn't possible to send items through the new mail system. Having it on 2 pages will hopefully make them feel more stupid for saying it.

Hopefully.

(Thanks for the clarification pohsyb!)
