The GM comes in game, laughs in your face the feeds you to a Dragon (Jormy)?

Animated Tails: Does this mean that there *might* be some new tails added for i17? Like maybe a fluffy foxy looking tail? That would complete SOOOO many characters! Epic Champions Online copy! LOL.

It's an upgrade, rather than a copy

I'm not going to go through all 30 characters.
All this suggests to me that one of the penalties of side switching is losing all your influence, recipes and anything you might be carrying.

It also suggests that the markets will not be merging.

Perhaps there is a switch that GoRo is going to flip - suddenly you can email anything to anyone on any side, the markets merge, etc - but if that was the case it would make sense to merge markets now so that by the time of GoRo things might have settled down a bit and not introduce such functionality at all.

That it exists at all suggests that the last thing you do before switching sides is email all your good stuff to another character.

EDIT: I should say that I know the devs had indicated that the markets wouldn't be merging a while ago, but this cements that fact.

Posted

UnSub, they have already specifically stated (not just indicated) that the markets are not merging. Heroes and Vigilantes can use Wentworths. Villains and Rogues can use Black Market. Neither pair can use the other. We've known this for several months now. No need for anything else to "cement" a fact that is already firmly in place.

I don't believe it was clear that characters who switch sides will be stripped of all possessions, which I think this email option makes pretty likely. Otherwise market arbitrage opportunities just became a heck of a lot easier (buy product X from the BM, send it to a character on the cusp of becoming a hero, move them across, sell it at WW, profit, send the money back via a character on the cusp of becoming a villain, repeat).

The size of the data being used to store the information has nothing whatsoever to do with the number of active missions.
Well, glad I put an "I think" at the end of my post then.

My only reasoning I can see DOING this means a harder mechanic is going to be implemented o.@ The main reason for hiding / randomizing clickies (Which is the only reason you can't find them right away, if they were static we'd /we do find them immediately from memory) is a method of time sinking and maintaining your userbase.
My guess is that "I can't find the last [whatever]" problems are a non-trivial percentage of GM calls, and that that, more than anything, drove this particular change -- eliminate as many of those calls that you can so that GMs can be better/faster for those who really truly need help and/or saving money on GM budgets.

Of all the GM calls I've personally made in the last 5 years, all but one were "Where the heck is the last [whatever]". If it's just one a quarter, that'd make 95% of my calls something for this new system to eliminate.

Excellent to see that not only did I miss the earlier...unpleasantness...but also I come back to find more details of how things will work regarding email transfers. This does just get cooler. So now if I want to transfer Rare Costume Piece Recipes that would look superb on another of my toons (but silly on the one who found it), I CAN!

Been away for a few years. Left a month or two after issue six and came back with issue 16. I like what they have done with the game in the interim and am really looking forward to issue 17 and GoRo. While you can't please all the people all the time (including myself) The current dev team seems to be on a hot streak as far as good ideas go.

They also specifically said that you can bring items across from blue to red through the process, but that it would involve more than just flipping switches.

I can't find the interview/post that it was stated in, but I am pretty sure it was Positron. (Again, months ago.)

Two questions on the real world application of this.

1. I currently have my Mail prefs set to only accept mail from SG members and friends (I think) I know I haven't seen a spam mail for a long time. Will those restrictions prevent me from mailing something to myself as I am not on my global friends list? I assume that the SG setting will allow it regardless, but clarification would be just keen.

2. You may note that I said I hadn't SEEN a spam e mail in some time. I currently have many characters that have e mail messages that don't show up in the mail window. my assumption was that the Mail filter allowed the spam to come through, but not to actually display. if this is correct, will hidden e mails count against the 20 message total?

Thanks for any info.

My first short story (detective fiction) came out in Jan-2012. Other stories and books to follow, I hope. Because of "real writing". COH was a big part of that happening.

since they changed the epics at 20, why not change the roman costume pieces so people who don't have a supergroup, or play at odd hours or don't play with more than maybe 2-3 people can FINALLY get them, on all the characters they have (I have tons) but I can never do those taskforces. Change the rewards in task/strikeforces to be supergroup related loot and let the costume pieces finally be obtained by people like me.

I mean there's absolutely no way since the game came out and even before then when I played other mmos will my work schedule ever change or will I have enough hours on the occasional day off to get that stuff on like one or two character, let alone 17 characters.
On my days off I spend time with my family, it's a serious event as someone is very sick in my family, so computer games are out of the question.

I am just suggesting this because really the EPICS now available SO early.... when I had to earn all of them on both sides. That's fine but make these costume pieces in these strikeforces available too now and PLEASE think about changing the loot rewarded in those types of missions to people who play in big groups and have supergroups with bases that need items or recipes or whatever, I just want to finally get some well deserved costume pieces for variety that I'll never be able to get any other way.

Release the hold on those costume pieces like you did with the epic classes (which I think is a bigger deal.)

This makes my day. I cannot tell you how many times I've been crashed by WW's.

On that note: Yay! Issue 17!

Much needed revamp of the Posi TF. Can't wait to see how they've improved it. Slogging through three hours of Vahz, Clockwork, and CoT is not the highlight of my day. I'm curious about this new enemy they're talking about, and how exactly it relates to the player.

Animated tails, while not a huge thing, are definately pretty cool. I have a couple of toons that could use them.

New badges! Badgewhore says what? Yeah. Totally going to spend way too much time hunting down all the new stuff. Being an rper, finding new badge titles to use for my characters is always fun. Plus I like reading the little stories and whatnot behind the exploration badges.

Epic ATs early? That's also pretty cool to me. While I've had the hero ATs unlocked for some time, I've always wanted to try a Fortunata and getting a 50 villain has proved to be quite a chore. Not sure why, but I just can't seem to stick redside.

The new e-mail system will be really nice. Being plagued with altitis, this will greatly reduce my need to have friends around to do my transfers for me. :P

New content is cool too, I'm happy to have more stuff to do in the early levels. Prolly gonna test out the new mission arcs on some of my lowbie alts.

Overall I'm pretty stoked for I17, some cool QoL stuff that I've been waiting for and some other stuff that I didn't expect.

Bad idea. All the spammers would have to do is attach 1 inf (or whatever the minimum threshold is) and voila! Spam hell again.

OK... I'm good with that.

I think that depends on how easy/difficult it is to actually switch. If you have to do several "opposite" missions in a row to switch that would be a natural limit on how often you could do it.

I'd be surprised if a character who's just switched can switch back immediately.

You say that like it's a bad thing...

You'd basically be getting paid to click two buttons "take money button" and the "report spam" button. I wouldn't mind that heh...

Sure it'd be 1 influence but with their energy/time, they might send ya 1 million by the time they stop
