  1. [QUOTE=Sayaki;4358260I plan to attempt this run at 4pm Pacific/7pm Eastern time on Sunday, September 2nd.[/QUOTE]

I will do my level best to attend, with JJ

(Will we also be trying for TRiple Threat or the Black Swan one?)

    -P
  2. Thanks everyone for their suggestions, hopefully I can act on some of them very soon.

For me, the largest problem is one of time -- I really only have maybe 3-4 nights a week that I can play, so it's hard to "get in" with a community for limited badger spots available.

Also: I have a job and young kids, so I can almost never get on before 9 PM, PST -- which is late for any east-coast based people.

I just wish there was a way for the Incarnate-level stuff to be cross-server somehow -- I mean, I'm paying the monthly fee specifically solely at this point for Incarnates, but low population means I can hardly ever DO Incarnate-level stuff on my server of choice that I *honestly* don't want to move away from after being here since launch day #2, y'know?

That's why I quit for 8 months the last time. *sadface*

    -P
  3. There are a number of the Incarnate Trial badges that I need that I'm starting to think I'll never be able to achieve on my home server due to low population. Is there one higher population server than another that is doing regular badging runs on Incarnate level stuff? Specific channels or people I should talk to?

Also, because I've never actually done it, what happens when you switch servers, then switch back -- is it like side-switching, RE: supergroup membership and such, or will you need to formally rejoin when you return servers?

    Thanks for any help!!

    -P
  4. I don't think you can really "quit" a free-to-play game, but I've decided to stop my billing, and just stay free... and since that means I lose all of the Incarnate stuff, I suspect it will mean I'm not going to log in often or at all.

But, I've cut the billing because the only reason TO pay (IMO) is the Incarnate trials, but no one is seeming to run any of the new ones (like older than Underground) -- I gave it three different times, during "prime time", on Friday/Saturdays, and nothing, nada, nyet.

"Triumph is dead" means there's very little point logging in, and especially to pay for the content that no one seems to be running (except speed runs of the "easy" bits)

I've had a ton of fun up until this point, but my account is turned off 1/5.

And no, you can't have my stuff!

    Purple Drop Rate

No, this is a completely different thought on the topic.

I very much like the way that Shards have been implemented, in that each member of the team has a chance to receive a drop from a defeated enemy, instead of the RNG picking one team member for largess as it does with Purples.

I think this dramatically increases demand/opportunity for teaming, and while it doesn't penalize solo farmers, makes them more efficient to gather on steamroller teams. And this, I think, helps the game in a whole myriad of ways.

So: What if they changed the Purple drop rate to match the Shard rules? That is any enemy defeated might have a chance to drop a purple on any/all members of a team, instead of just one person.

They'd probably have to decrease the drop rate a bit, naturally, to not overproduce Purples, but on the other side I think things would feel a great deal more "fair" for the majority of players, spreading out their generation to more people.

As it stands now, a farmer solo-farming at x8 is likely to generate more Purples for themselves than any individual member of a steamrolling team of 8 players even if they're rolling through packs of mobs 3-5 times faster. And that doesn't really seem right to me.
  6. Thank you to Evil Assailant, Master Stryker, Tam, Mach, Snake, Dynamite Monkey (and even Dawun for resetting the zone) for helping me finish this off this afternoon!

Cool, I've asked for it to be changed...

Now, who can help with the RV Heroes? No one...?
  8. You might know me better as Plothammer in TW (is there a way to change your Board posting name?); my Main Badger is JJ. Flash.

I've been content with letting badges come as they come (I still don't have MSTF, for example, or the two highest damage taken badges), but with GR I've made the Red switch to get all of the Villain badges. I've got something like a month left staying on the Red-side, for my last two day job badges.

So, before the day jobs are up I need to get two more RV hero defeats (States and BABs), which certainly isn't something I can solo, and which doesn't seem to happen by announcing in TW. (I lucked into the other four, but the odds of that happening a 2nd time before the month is up seems low)

I need help putting together a team to get the Hero badges in RV -- I'm on most nights after 9:30 PM PST. Is anyone able to help me achieve this goal?

(I figure it's best to get this done before i19 drops because everyone will be distracted by that...)

(I also need MRSF and Mcuda, if anyone is willing to try the "late night" run for those? Most of the scheduled attempts look like they typically start much earlier than I can get on...)
  9. I'm 95% sure I'll be able to make this, so put down JJ Flash for the Blaster spot...

    Mo5thSF , MoRSF

Are there going to be any more attempts? I didn't see these posts until someone on TW pointed me here -- my main, JJ Flash, needs these, and I've got what, 80-ish days left (Day Job badge timers)?

I'm on after ~9:30 PST most every night.

I also need the RV Hero Defeat badges, and really don't know the best way to deal with those either...

(I'm "Plothammer" in global, for those who don't recognize the posting name...)
  11. I made this list for myself, for the NEW morality-system badges, starting from being a HERO, and thought it might be helpful for someone. This does not include the various villain-side badges one could get, or the praetorian-specific badges (explores, or kills, especially)

Snow or someone can tell me what I got wrong...

    *******

    Step 1: Move to VIGILANTE

    Day 1:

Do 5 VIGILANTE tip missions (max you can do in one day)
    * Tipped Off - You received your first tip earning yourself the Tipped Off badge.
    * Streetwise - You completed a Vigilante Alignment Mission earning yourself the Streetwise badge.
    * Walking The Path - You strove for what you believe in and, against all odds, came out on top. You've earned the Walking the Path badge by completing your first Alignment Mission.

Help Someone Else do a VIGILANTE (preferred), ROGUE or VILLAIN Tip Mission.
    * Tested The Water - You're not quick to pass judgment on others, but will step in when things stray off course. You earned this badge by helping someone complete an Alignment Mission that is not the same as your current alignment.

Hopefully one of the Tip Missions will get you:
    * Judge and Jury - (Hero) You defeated one of the signature "Rogue's Gallery" characters in an Alignment or Morality mission earning yourself this badge

Not 100% sure how these are earned:
    * Made A Stand - You strove for what you believe in and, against all odds, came out on top. [I think this is “use the morality system at all” badge?]
    * Agent Of Order/Chaos/Praetoria (Accolade) [I think this is an “automatic” badge for your “native” state?]

This Can be Done Anytime Within This Process
    * Pain Killer - You've completed the Cathedral of Pain and thwarted the Aspect of Rularuu's plans.

Finally: Need Luck, or Begging to get a mission with these two (apparently, there are several, but in lower level ranges)
    * Eye of the Storm - (Defeat Maelstrom)
    * Whip Cracker - (Defeat Desdemona)

    Day 2:

Do 5 VIGILANTE tip missions (max you can do in one day)
    Do 1 VIGILANTE Morality Mission
    * Above The Law - You are the law, you dispense your own kind of justice for the greater good. You have completed a Vigilante Morality Mission earning yourself this badge.

    Go To The Rogue Islands
    * Grass is Greener/Grass is Meaner - (Going to the opposite faction's zones as a vigilante or rogue.)

Do an Architect Mission marked as “Vigilante”
    * Walks the Line - You've earned this badge by playing an architect mission marked as vigilante content.

You Must Now Wait Seven days as a VIGILANTE
    * Fearsome - You completed a Vigilante Morality Mission and then maintained your Vigilante alignment for 7 days earning yourself this badge.

    Step 2: Move to VILLAIN

    Day 1:

Do 5 Tip Missions as a VILLAIN
    * Inquisitor - You completed a Villain Alignment Mission earning yourself the Inquisitor badge.

    Day 2:

Do 5 Tip Missions as a VILLAIN
    Do VILLAIN Morality Mission
    * Dastardly - The mere mention of your name causes those that hear it to shiver in fear. You have completed a Villain Morality Mission earning yourself this badge.
    * Descended - You have shrugged off the heavy binds of morality and selflessness and have become a Villain. You have shifted your alignment from Hero to Villain earning yourself the Descended badge.

Do an Architect Mission marked as “Villain”
    * Villainous

You Must Now Wait Seven Days as a VILLAIN
    * Frenzied - You completed a Villain Morality Mission and then maintained your Villain alignment for 7 days earning yourself this badge.

    Step 3: Move to ROGUE

    Day 1:

Do 5 Tip Missions as a ROGUE
    * Well Informed - You completed a Rogue Alignment Mission earning yourself the Well Informed badge.

    Day 2:

Do 5 Tip Missions as a ROGUE
    Do ROGUE Morality Mission
    * Scoundrel - You've got what it takes to get things done, you're not bogged down by things like morals or scruples. You have completed a Rogue Morality Mission earning yourself this badge.

Do an Architect Mission marked as “Rogue”
    * Cunning - You've earned this badge by playing an architect mission marked as rogue content.

You Must Now Wait Seven Days as a ROGUE
    * Trickster - You completed a Rogue Morality Mission and then maintained your Rogue alignment for 7 days earning yourself this badge.

    Step 4: Move to HERO

    Day 1:

Do 5 Tip Missions as a HERO
    * Ear To The Street - You completed a Hero Alignment Mission earning yourself the Ear to the Street badge.

    Day 2:

Do 5 Tip Missions as a HERO
    Do HERO Morality Mission
    * Resolute - You've proven time and time again that Paragon City can rely on you. You have completed a Hero Morality Mission earning yourself this badge.
    * Ascended - Despite your villainous beginnings you managed to redeem yourself. You have shifted your alignment from Villain to Hero earning yourself the Ascended badge.
    * Come Full Circle - You ended up right back where you started, coming full circle from hero to villain and back again.

You Must Now Wait Seven Days as a HERO
    * Heard the Call - You completed a Hero Morality Mission and then maintained your Hero alignment for 7 days earning yourself this badge.

    DONE!
  12. I have a very very stupid build on my main. He's from day 2 of launch, and I've got a bunch of Hamis slotted that are there because I earned them, rather than being smart placement or anything, necessarily.

I'm sure I could be switching slots around, choosing better sets, and so on, and improve the build, but all of the math confuses me horribly.

I like all of the powers I have, and probably wouldn't want to add anything in to the attack cycle, with one exception: Consume. I almost never use it in the real world, though I'm not opposed to it.

I very much like my range overkill on Blaze, because long-ranging that kind of damage is awesome; and the hold overkill on Char for soloing, taking a single enemy out for longer is great.

Other than that, I'm open to any suggestions for change. Thanks much for your thoughts, in advance.

My guess is that "I can't find the last [whatever]" problems are a non-trivial percentage of GM calls, and that that, more than anything, drove this particular change -- eliminate as many of those calls that you can so that GMs can be better/faster for those who really truly need help and/or saving money on GM budgets.

Of all the GM calls I've personally made in the last 5 years, all but one were "Where the heck is the last [whatever]". If it's just one a quarter, that'd make 95% of my calls something for this new system to eliminate.
  14. Alright, got all 10 (plus a few) last night in about 2 hours. Here's the breakdown for anyone else curious:

Ran the 1-5 weight class as a "Duel". Ran them on the "cage" map for that badge (and for ease in finding the opponent) Did not seem to be able to set the timer for less than 10 minutes on Duel? That got, let's see: Victor, Duelist, the Cage Match one, and the 1-5 Weight class badge. Switched to partner winning, same thing for them.

Ran the next classes as "Battle Royale", that allows a 5 minute timer. After the first one, earned Survivalist (and got me the accolade as well, as I already had Swiss Draw and Septad), plus the tier.

Selecting "rated" or not didn't appear to have any impact on badges being earned, though, at the end of the session I noted that I hadn't gained any "Reputation" whatsoever. That doesn't accrue in Arena, maybe?

Kind of trivially easy -- getting almost any Oro badge in the 35-39 range took longer than the whole swath here.

    Thanks for the tips, people!

Thanks, that was helpful -- the badge descriptions, the badge sites and the wiki are maddeningly unspecific on the details. All I see is "Win a rated scheduled Arena match" on wiki and "Arena System Tournament" on City Info Tracker, which is why I thought they had to be the scheduled system tournaments. Maybe this is why these are some of the least possessed badges, according to the latter?

This would also give each person participating 10 shots at a 2 billion recipe too, right? Why aren't people lining up at the arena, at least to get the badges?

Serious question, then -- I have Pentad and Swiss Draw from badging channel recruitments, so I need Duelist and Survivalist on top of the 10 ranks.

You mentioned "Battle Royale" as the one to pick -- that gets you... Duelist, as well? Or do you have to pick Duel for Duelist and Free For All for Survivalist? And is there any difference between the events when you're 1v1?

I'd rather understand what I'm doing before I try to recruit people to badge with me...

    Thanks!
  16. Having just finished the last of my Oro badges (ugh, that 40-44 band took a while!), my next biggest chunk is the various "Arena Tournament Badges"

    How do these work?

Standing at the terminal in the Arena I can see the "Tournament" tab. All of these appear to start "on the hour".

I hit "join event", and the event is starred, but it looks like I'm the only person signed up ("1/8+"), and the clock rolls around the hour and nothing happens. I hit refresh, and the time has passed to the next hour increment.

    Questions:
    1) There's only one badge-eligible match each hour, and all 10 bands all start at exactly the same time?

    2) If no one else is signed up, the match won't start? (Awarding the badge by default?)

    3) If I sign up for multiple events (looks like you can sign up for 3 at once?), how do they resolve if two or more are valid?

    4) When you see multiple-people-joined events, does that mean that those events WILL start on the hour?

    5) Will I teleport from "anywhere" outside to the arena building, once/if they start, or need I be in an arena zone/building?

    6) Is there any relatively easy way to get these badges without having to full-on fight strangers? As my badger may not be even slightly effective in PvP...

    Thanks!
  17. So, for what it is worth, on my second night of trying for the badges, I fell in with a team running @ level 10 set for 8. Hordelings spawned at between 12 and 16 per iteration.

When I was at 59 killed (Nice, I hadn't realized there was a counter for these until someone pointed it out), the group broke up, but the mission holder was extremely nice enough to let me run a few more times. What we did was enter the mission together, then he let me drop from the team. I snapped back up to level 50, and just wiped the map. Went very very fast, and I had Coldblooded within 15 minutes.

Then he switched to a 30 vill, and we did the same again. Succubi and Hellfrosts spawned between 12 and 20 per reload, at about 50/50 ratio. At 3.1 runs I got Weed Whacker -- maybe 20 minutes doing it that way.

So, if you can find someone to help you, and is willing to stand around not getting XP while you badge it out, that would seem to be the fastest way.

Thanks very much to Evil Evans for his help last night, I'm four badges closer to being complete!

    -B
  18. As I understand it the only time Heroes can earn this badge is right now, during the "Spring Fling".

If I'm getting this correct, to get Coldblooded, we need a 20-25 villain to start Scratch's mission in order to spawn Hordelings (100), and a 25-45 villain to spawn Succibi or Hellfrosts (50) to get Weed Whacker.

Last night we did 5 passes, and each run through the mission spawned (with between 4 and 6 on the team) exactly FOUR hordelings... which means it would take, ugh, 25 times through the mission to get the badge (barring any Hordeling resurrections)

    My questions are these:
    1) Did we keep getting exactly four hordelings because the mission is hardcapped at that number, or would taking the team up to 8 members spawn us more on each map? There seemed to be no difference between 4 team members and 6...

    2) Did we keep getting exactly four because we kept resetting the mission (and so kept getting the same exact map, but with different spawn groups -- sometimes mostly ghosts, sometimes mostly mages)? If we also did the second mission, would that give us a better chance for more on the first mission?

    3) Is there a level range that can guarantee to get Hellfrosts instead, so at least we can work two badges at once?

    4) If we were down to, say, a duo, would we still get four-per-map? Or would it drop to, say, two?

4a) Is it that four-per-map the same for Hellfrosts or Succubi?

Given the super-tight timeline to earn this badge, and the absolutely singular mission to get them to spawn, and given how quickly interest in doing Holiday content seems to fade (typically within the first week!), I could really use any tips or hints in how to maximize the chances of getting these two badges (plus the two gladiators attached to those two).

Any hints from people who have earned these badges would be VERY welcome...

If it helps, I'm on Triumph.

    Thanks!

    JJ
