More stupid Drive-By Buffers!

Sorry about this short rant, everyone! I HATE Drive-By-Buffers! Why do they think they have a right to Drive-By-Buff anyone without asking their permission first? Don't they even know, or care, the least little bit, that by doing Drive-By-Buffing, without asking first, is gonna make them a ton of enemies! *End Rant*

Yes, heaven forbid people try to help you.

I know that some people find it annoying, but I'd say that my experiences in-game show that many more people actually like getting drive-by buffs.

Yeah...regardless of character, timing, location, etc...I'm pretty much open to buffing. Lay 'em on me.

And if I'm not, like say RPing? I have walk toggled.

*yawn*

I'm not against buffing, if someone asks me if I want to be buffed, Aett_Thorn. I'm just against being Drive-By-Buffed without being asked if I want to be Buffed! Don't hate me, people, it's just the way I am, that's all!

In the long run, what does it matter? They seem to have just cut two lines of chat out of the equation. So what is the harm in what they are doing?

I dont mind drive by buffing, sometimes it can help, especialy if im in the middle of mob.

What i find stupid, however, is driveby buffing if im at the market, or just standing around.
Wow great, with that speed boost, i can now BUY THINGS FASTER!

Theres also a type of driveby buffing that i actively hate: Increased density randomly thrown on pre-travel power chars.

You are already getting explicit asking in form of accept/decline dialog. Asking permission through chat will be redundant.

As for myself, I'd love to have option Always Accept/Always Decline/Prompt. And for me it will be set to "Always Accept"

I love a random buff! When I'm fresh out the zig on a new brute and some kin that for some reason is hanging out on mercy island smacks me with an SB, SWEET! I can then street-sweep to level 3 or 4 before it wears off.

Fortitude, speed boost, O2, Clear Mind, Accelerate Metabolism, Adrenalin Boost, Regeneration Aura, Recovery Aura, Deflection Shield, Insulation Shield, Sonic Haven, Sonic Barrier, etc, etc, etc have accept/decline dialog? News to me.

The only time I don't welcome a drive-by buff is if it's something like Ice shields and I'm in a costume contest or standing at the tailor. Then it's basically griefing. Other than that, I welcome it. Always.

For the folks bothered by it, it'd be neat to be able to right-click in the buff bar under the health/end bars and be able to dismiss an unwanted buff. I think a prompt for buffs would be annoying since in mission teams buffs often fly about fast and furious and it'd be frustrating having dialogs popping up for every buff.

Yeah, the ONLY buffs with that dialog are the fortunes.

They assume I both want and need their "help", when often times I don't. They can tell when I do want it; I'll join a team with them. Otherwise, I don't want it, I don't need it, and I think it's terribly rude and a touch arrogant to assume that I want/need YOUR help to do whatever it is I'm doing.

I'm doing fine on my own, thanks. I want to learn to master my character by learning what I can and cannot do at each level. That means your "help" is actually in my way and makes me waste my game time while I wait for it to wear off so I can go back to what I was doing.

Wasn't OP complaining about Fortune Buffs?

If it was regarding regular buffs, then ...WOW!...

Yes, that'd be a very nice QoL feature.

Sheesh.

Five years of doing it. Zero enemies as a result. Plenty of thank yous, though.

The worst is random Speed Buffs. There's a reason I don't play anyone with Super Speed.

Only thing I could think of is that some ppl can't do SB because it my cause them to dc.Or the colors class with their costume.

I personally don't care.

"Pardon me, sir, you seem to be having a devil of a time fighting that rather nasty-looking fellow in the tin suit with all the sharp bits. Would you, perhaps, be interested in one of my finer buffs (if I do say so myself)? It is called Fortitude and it will help you in your fight in many ways! It will buff your Accuracy, your Damage, and your Defense to... Oh, my! It seems he got the better of you that time, sir... Perhaps when you get back from your trip to the hospital, you'd be interested in... Well! How rude to be teleporting off to the hospital in the middle of our conversation!"

You are the first person I've ever heard complain. Somehow I doubt it will make a TON of enemies. I've never been upset to have someone hit me with auras during a tight fight or bubble me.

As a new player I was a little in awe of these superheroes who flew over me in a fight and blessed me with more energy regen or made me hit harder for a minute or two. I always said when I got there I'd pay it forward. Any time I am in Atlas I make a point of doing a swing around and finding someone in over their head and giving them a nice boost. I usually see a TY in broadcast not long after.

Your mileage may vary, but I think you are in the minority.

Only for Mystic Fortune. Not so much things like Speed Boost, Thermal Shields, Force Fields, Fortitude, etcetera, etcetera...

That said, i generally welcome drive-by buffs, and tend to dispense them on my buffers when i run into characters fighting street mobs, outside of mission doors and other places where it seems likely the buffs would be helpful. Not so much when they're standing around somewhere chatting or otherwise not about to engage in combat like Atlas Park, Pocket D and the various markets.
