Quote:Actualy, that was just the straw that broke the camel's back. There was a lot of other points that had me on the edge of quiting, and with the new content being one of the few reason I was still playing.Wow. I'm a pretty avid roleplayer. I like my storylines, and I like getting storylines in the game. Just saying that so you know where this is coming from: Get therapy.
What I saw as a drop in quality, for the benefit of someone's ego, which was enough for me to give up. -
Quote:From my POV, you've hit the nail on the head.Something I've found acting as a storyteller - and this is no great wisdom, just my own experience - is inserting a representation of yourself in a story that's not ostensibly ABOUT that representation of yourself mostly and primarily is just a bad idea all around. (and all the rest that is basicaly pointing out mary-sueism)
The death of Sister Psyche even feels like it only happened as she'd be the only one who outranked Positron and stood in the way of his promotion.
This is made even worse when you know that Positron was not a character created specificaly for CoH like all other rednames/npcs were.
I unsubbed for several months after I was forced to aknowledge that Possitron was the most important member of, and founder of the FP. I didn't even turn the mission in, I exited the game, and unsubbed right then, along with long winded message to customer support as to why I unsubbed. The whole thing had left a terrible taste in my mouth. I'm back now, but cant even bring myself to read mission text, as I know that it's just going to be even more drivvel. -
Having knocked out 10K words last week in short stories, I feel I may have shot my wadd early on choice subject matter, so need new inspiration.
If I can get get prelim structure figured out for the things I have banding about in my head by the end of the month, I'll be giving it a shot. -
Quote:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Booster_GoldBearing in mind I know only Union based characters, since that's exclusively where I play
Using an example like that is like being asked for an example of a footballer, and saying "my mate steve, as he kicks a ball in the park on saturday." -
Not everyone lives in England, Z.
I'm guessing that to him, it was late at night, rather than before you woke up.
But 500m buy in? how big a prize are we talking here?
Because you're looking at about 16 people to get any kind of decent ladder going, so that's 8bill floating in the prize fund. How're you looking to divvy that up? -
I'd not say who I think it's likely to be, but I seriously hope it will be Positron.
It just seems like a bland character in a generic looking costume, that gained more importance in the lore, as the developer who created him gained standing in the company.
On the other hand, I hope it wont be Statesman, who will always be the face of CoH in my oppinion. -
Risking being screamed at for putting my nose into Union business, and to reiterate whats already been said: Talk to people. If you don't feel your character fits the feel of others around you, walk away.
Also, tags arent a good thing, once again, due to differences in oppinions.
One person's MRP is another person's ERP... just they dont want to admit to the dirty dirty cybering, so try to lump themselves in the same batch as the gritty and nasty.
And congratulations on your first Union Roleplay argument. I miss the barking. -
Im staying firmly put on Virtue, I see no reason to lock off the community to potential RPers by moving the comunity to a VIP server, as someone suggested in a global channel today.
Quote:I dont see why not. it took a week of moderate non-grindy work for me to get 3 of them fully slotted up, and i've seen people do that in a day of extreme grinding. It also raised a huge question for the incarnate part of the game, are they really going to ask VIP players to grind threads and drops ?
Also, my condolences to Union on the loss of the GG statue. Hopefully there are other statues around that can substitute for it. Maybe if you guys had a community-wide plot or something to give a reason for a new meeting place, much like how GG origionaly started. -
Whenver i hear that, it's never a good thing.
-
Mine has less of a difference than yours, but here it is anyway.
Along the top, we have the origional costume, limited by peices, and customising. How glad i was when they implemented scale sliders. I still use the same slider setup to this day.
Due to RP plots, the character shifted from hero/merc towards more of a businessman/arms dealer, which reflected in his standard clothing shifting towards shirt and tie. When I remade the character (first in preperation for champions, then when moving back to virtue after champions blowed), some of the character progression made in the "alternative (union) universe" version was used in rebooting the character, so his main costume is now that.
The two bottom ones are the armour used in the Rikti invasion/council of war plot on union, and the current heavy assault armour used on the virtue version.

Why did it have to be Birmingham? I hate that place.
I suppose i'd not be missing much, a lot of the guys I know from Union left the game, and theres a good portion of the RP community that still hates me for saying @&#%! before 11pm.
Memrobelia 07, the group i was with got there early, not many people were around, so we got bored, and went up to the christmas market instead, and Mossy tried to throw Ommy into a fountain. If Zortel ever says she's met me, she's lieing, we apparently left 10 minutes before she showed up, dont trust her!
Omega Sektor i missed out on, because i was working. (putting up a lighting rig for a crappy vince vaugn cristmas movie, if i remember right.)
When a few guys came down to london, I missed it, because i ended up with my wrists tied to a bed about 20 minutes before i was meant to leave the house.
One of these days, i'll actualy manage to make it to a meetup. -
first post since coming back
Quote:Thank you.Yes, this idea came from what Union did and credit goes to them for it.
I am more than happy to offer advice, if you want the help.
One thing you REALLY are going to need is a chairman, preferably a veteran, who holds a lot of weight in the ENTIRE comunity, and is suitable for the role IC.
In the Rikti war council, this was Big Lunk (the Unionverse version).
In the Preatorian war council, this was Pious.
Both have reason for getting the population to sit down and listen to them.
Without this simple thing, the idea will fall apart fast.
Find the right person, who everyone already has respect for, to fill this role IC, keep them fully informed of the direction the council should go OOC, and hope they can hold people together long enough for it to succede. -
using an ati 4850 here, and not had any issue since the ultramode beta click-accept-get-0.5-fps bug.
I'm also running Vista, which according to a friend (with her constantly blue screening windows 7 computer) means my PC should be spontaniously combusting at POST, but hasnt had a major error in over a year. go figure.
Your mileage may vary, however, and you should also look at other factors of the two, like which card generation both are from. -

What do you want to do at L60+?
Only we can stop it before it begins!
I disagree with OP on grounds of extra balance pases, more grind, and Marlon Brando's assfat.
Keep it 50, add better end game content, not crack and grind like some MMOs do. -
Quote:Seconding this, anything under 100 is acceptable, but in general i'd say 50-80 should be a safe norm. You'd need to look up the safe operating temperature for your particular GPU. It will be available on your manufacturer's website.
Realistically, 87 degrees isn't bad. In many cases, 105 degrees is the "generally accepted" point of no return where you stand a chance of system failure/shutdown/bricking. But even that is theoretical. If you're under 100 degrees c. I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you approach 100 degrees, it's time to look into where the issue is. If you never exceed 95 degrees c. you're probably fine. If your card is even somewhat current, it can handle it.
Hell, my old card would shut off as soon as it went over 100.
One thing i find helps a lot on desktops (sorry, know you're on a laptop), is to move any PCI cards 1 slot down away from your graphics (pci-e/agp) slot, and leave the backplate for that slot uncovered to improve air flow.
For a laptop... maybe get a cooling mat thing with one of those fans in.
Also, as a slight deviation on topic: Do system temps show up in C or F in the US? -
English, and enough german to get by working at a gig staffed by mostly germans.
I'm better at reading it, but not by much, and have been told by native germans that i speak the language in a slight black forrest region accent.... i assume this may mean i speak like a german redneck. -

Disagree strongly, mainly as this means purples will be selling for the same as some peices of white salvage.
High prices on certain things dont bother me, as i can sell one high priced thing to buy another.
Trading a few merits for a sought after recipe to be able to afford the last few slots in a build is something i do a lot, and helps fill the demand for those recipes. But I wouldnt waste 250 merits on something if its sale (once market costs are deducted) wont even buy me one other capped price recipe.
Also, if everyone could afford everything right off the bat, there will be even more bids, less of the items to go around, and you still wont get the things you want. -
Welcome to virtue from a US-to-EU-to-US server migrant.
You'll not regret the switch.
Were you on Union or Defiant?
Quote:All lies! we eat horses, urinate on the street, and yell bad things at old ladies. We were originally on the European servers but have made the jump across the Atlantic and picked Virtue after reading some very good things about your community

Unfortunatly, steam is locked to your region (unless gifted a game from a friend in a different region, sometimes that will give you theirs.)
US versions can be bought from the PlayNC store, or possibly just upgraded from your account page, although you miss out on the -33%, and with the current exchange rate, its a fair difference between EU on offer, and US at normal price.
But, on the other hand, the EU servers aren't dead from what i hear, and are comparable in population to the non-highest-populated US ones. Only difference being that you will not find people on at all times of day (as with the larger few US servers), pick up groups can be a pain to find (easier if you're the one organising them, as not many want to lead), and the general consensus from EU players is they feel like they do not get adequate dev/support attention after the EU office was closed, and they are now part of the larger single community.
They're not everyone's cup of tea, but you may find a home there if you decide against the US. -

the US versions tend to have an item ID (last number) of 1 or 2 lower than the EU ones. It's usualy a case of having to work backwards untill you find it.
