NaNoWriMo - Anyone giving it a go this year?

Ok, so NaNoWriMo isn't really roleplaying, but as roleplaying and creative writing go hand in hand I feel this has a place here in the RP section.

Not sure if I'll make it but I'm going to give it a shot this year. When I'm 'in the zone' I can crank out 4000 words or more in a day so it should be doable, though I've no idea what I'm going to write apart from it being a sci-fi\fantasy novel and probably total garbage!

So, anyone else going to give it a shot? And to link it into CoX, anyone going to make it CoX fanfic?

I've given it a go in previous years but I've got far too much happening in RL at the moment to dedicate myself to it.

Good luck to anyone who gives it a go, it can be a real challenge.

I'm giving it another shot this year despite not giving my last one any love since dinging the big 50 (thousand words). However, though my planned NaNo is superhero fiction (centring on a singer who develops sonic powers and extreme sound->colour synaesthesia), it's in its own universe rather than that of CoX.

Maybe. When does it start?

There's a few of us who're slightly subverting the idea - getting 50,000 words, any 50,000 words down, in an effort to actually finish stuff (in my case, preferably before lore goes sideways).

For some people I'm encouraging, it's an even simpler goal: Finish Something (sounds so easy, feels so hard).

And then I'm spending December editing for folks.

I happen to partake in this every year as a nice personal challenge. Last year I completely fell off the radar for it, though. Thus, this year I will be write in the thick of things. *smirk*

I know what you mean, 50,000 words is daunting. All of my stuff is usually shorts, the max I've done before is probably 15,000.

But the whole point is to encourage the writing habit and even if it's a pile of trash I really want to write 50,000+ words of trash.

Got myself a new bit of writing software that's great for outlining so I'm hoping the framework is ready to go on Nov 1, though no actual words on paper, I don't want to cheat...

You're joking right?

I've seen you in full swing at GG. You're probably the most creative person I know.

Having knocked out 10K words last week in short stories, I feel I may have shot my wadd early on choice subject matter, so need new inspiration.

If I can get get prelim structure figured out for the things I have banding about in my head by the end of the month, I'll be giving it a shot.

I'm one of the ones with Cende... with luck, between now and Nov 30th, at 1667 words per day, I'll be able to finish book 2 of THE COURSE OF SUPERHERO ROMANCE (yes, COH fanfiction), and get hauling on book 3.

I am such a dork.
