Your Costumes: Then and Now

I recently discovered an old screenie from way back in 2007, taken just 3 days after I started playing this game. It featured my main villains first costume. I'd be hard pressed to imagine ole' Knightmare clad in azure armour, fresh out of the Zig, struggling with level 3 snakes, but there he was. The difference was startling. No cape, no aura, no fancy booster pack costume parts (save for the GvE goodies). Just standard parts.

So my good people of the forums, I want to see your oldest toons first costume. Try to recreate it if you can and post a comparison shot with your current costume. It must be your level 1 costume i.e the one that the toon rolled with. If for whatever reason the original costume parts are no longer available (Malaise pants), then the closest match will do.

Mine has less of a difference than yours, but here it is anyway.

Along the top, we have the origional costume, limited by peices, and customising. How glad i was when they implemented scale sliders. I still use the same slider setup to this day.
Due to RP plots, the character shifted from hero/merc towards more of a businessman/arms dealer, which reflected in his standard clothing shifting towards shirt and tie. When I remade the character (first in preperation for champions, then when moving back to virtue after champions blowed), some of the character progression made in the "alternative (union) universe" version was used in rebooting the character, so his main costume is now that.

The two bottom ones are the armour used in the Rikti invasion/council of war plot on union, and the current heavy assault armour used on the virtue version.

My very first toon, when she was still called Sugar Rainbow (i know, sounds like a porn star).

Edit: Made a mistake, my first character is made in 2005 (just checked my plaync account. Account made on Jun 20, 2005). So yeah, that 2006 in the picture must be 2005.



You can already see what kind of style i dig with her second costume. In 2009 I changed her name to Lavena. And she now looks like this.



Have this look for two years now. And never going to change it anymore. This is Lavena for me and she will stay like this. Though she does have an “dark/evil” outfit. So I can play with that one.

My second toon (my main red side toon and also my badger). A sonic/pain corr. She is from 2009, so not that old. Though she also been updated many times.



Her first look, tried to make a gipsy style toon. Think I did a decent job with that.

Tried to make her more mature. She has this look for over a year now. This is her main outfit and won’t change it again. Though I keep playing with some alternative styles now and then. Though keep getting back to this one.

Well I had written out my whole post explaining why I was going to post my namesake rather than my actual oldest character (oldest one left on my account).. however the stupid* forums logged me out and ate my post...

Mystic Fortune was originally made in 2005, but was re-rolled in 2008 with a different selection of power sets. Technically he is still my oldest character.



*Replace this word with an incoherent string of cuss words..

Mystic Fortune I am sensing a Dr. Fate kind of theme with your toon, maybe he was inspired by him.

You'll notice of course the difference in computers. The 2005 shot, one of her earliest, probably right around 24, was with her first SG on Virtue. The 2011 one is not the current live one, that one's only 27 on Justice, but I did put the same costume on her alt on Liberty which is 50.

I always said I'd never make a cat girl ... so she's new and now She is a Mutant Claws Invuln Brute

Okay I have a ton more then and now pics but its gonna take awhile to find and clean them up a bit.

Thanks for this interesting thread, I like seeing the differences of the characters through time and graphic quality from computer upgrades!

Originally he was an energy/energy blaster and now he's a fire/dark corruptor. This was my first toon and I can't bring myself to delete him so the orginal nrg/nrg is still around... One thing that I did change though, originally he was set at the shortest settings possible and it was part of his backstory. I got tired of being so puny and changed his height when that option was added and removed it from his story.

They're kind of scattered a bit now, but if you check the Burnt Matchstick link in my sig, you'll see a pretty grand evolution of a single character concept.

Not exactly a massive overhaul, but definitely an improvement.

Not exactly the same character but, when I moved to Virtue, I couldn't keep the name Polish Princess for my original "main". I ultimately decided to retire her with her identity intact on her home server than rename her. I later went and made a Praetorian version of her as a Red blaster (not an option in 2004) rather than a Rad defender and gave her a new look:



Edit: Actually, her original cape was the standard long cape with a red/white hourglass sort of pattern. The Valkyrie cape obviously came later.

A couple years ago I actually did a picture of my namesake character's evolution, who I kept rerolling trying to find the right fit for him. Added a picture I just took. (As in five minutes ago!)

My main Warlocke has gone through many changes since 2005! He was originally called Black Mage, but it wasn't until after the name change that I found his two signature looks

Okay, here is my first love, and 50. She is ElektraKiLL a Mutant E3 Blaster (nearly all my chars are mutant - i really need the pack) anyway the first costume was her first (the screenshots are in order of costumes used through the years, they were all taken today- but they show how much she has changed in her `life`*...right now she always uses the last costume) Interestingly enough, the hard knocks of hero life have got her down and she is a vigilante now, going rogue, if you will. Nobody said being a hero was easy peasy and she is a baaad girl.

The only changes ever made to Jae(Wyld Fyre)'s costume were the changes Cryptic at the time made to her shorts and belt. She got a change in face when we got the one with freckles and her /energy switched to blue instead of pink with power customization, but she still wears her same outfit 7 years later.
