Well...I *would* have been Chief Centurion Z1.
But my global, for some wierd reason, changed when I got City of Villains, back in the days of being seperate. And Alpha was my first villain...
And here I am, plotting world domination and doom to all mankind, rather than sounding like a Paladin...alright, a slightly more badass Paladin. Voiced by Peter Cullen

I made a joker-esque thug/pain mm and named him Larker,I really don't play him too much anymore. The reason being is that I can't shoot my brute from aggro'n multiple mobs.

My original name was Warpact after my global and my first 50 a bots/ff mm,and his original name was Ultron Mark I which got genericed 6 months after he hit 50.

I believe I came up with Warpact because it was a pact of war that my family made, the eldest male in our family has served in every war since the Revolutionary war. But,I broke the pact because I had a daughter and my brother's son is just a little guy.

One of the following is true:

A) In the book I wrote my main character's name is D'Shan who became D'Shan Steelclaw in-game which was shortened to Steelclaw on the forums.

B) When I was six I was in a horrible wood-chipper accident where I lost my left hand which was subsequently replaced with a crude steel simalcrum.

C) I originally considered Teal Claw but it didn't have the same impact.

D) All of the above.

E) None of the above.

F) One of the above and some of the below.

G) My original aim was to "rule the forums with a steel claw" but that has since degenerated into "being the court jester of the forums."

H) I was originally Foam Rubber Finger, as my post count grew I advanced to Brittle Finger Nail, Copper Cuticle and Tin Talon. From Steelclaw I hope to advance later to Adamantium Appendage.

I) Mr. No Pants was taken.

J) Attempted Mr No Shirt but the neighbors complained to the police and an injunction was filed.

K) "Poor dark soul living in the agony of loneliness and pushing back the terror and depression of solitude by creating an unending litany of joke lists and nonsense posts as a means of whistling in the dark" exceeded the maximum number of characters.

My mind wanders so often you've probably seen its picture on milk cartons. - Me... the first person version of the third person Steelclaw

Smurch is one my characters in the game. I don't play him very often, but he's the one most likely to hang out in Pocket D. He's a demon imp from the plane of Acheron. He was summoned up by an SG mate, taken up by another SG mate when that one left. Dismissed in anger. Re-summoned by accident, then finally adopted by one of my wife's characters.

Smurch is evil with a lower-case "e". He's the "light someone's hair on fire cuz it's funny" kind of evil. A playful evil. He enjoys bad 80s television, unspeakable food combinations (often involving mayonaisse) and singing novelty tunes in a tuneless annoying voice (which, while I CAN sing, I also really enjoy singing in an annoying tuneless voice for some reason...). He runs a crooked business, SmurchCo, out of his closet, and can often be found at the black market, engaging in some minor market manipulation from time to time.

Smurch's theme song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_9b90vP2DA

Smurch's name came from my mashing some words I brain stormed together until I found a suitably impish name. Smoke and Scorch were the main components, but Smudge and "besmirch" were involved too. Smurch.

Smurch lives in my head. He's quite literally the little demon on my shoulder who tells me to say things I shouldn't, eat things I shouldn't and do things I really, really shouldn't. My wife says every once in a while I get "Smurchy" where it seems like Smurch is taking the reigns a bit. I tend to show up here sometimes when that happens, so I figured I aughtta call it like it is.

Not long after I first got CoH, I was looking for inspiration for character names everywhere. Looked in the newspaper and saw a headline, "Local Man awarded Congressional Medal of Honor." (Actually, it was a posthumous award from the war in Iraq . . . very sad.) I thought to myself, "So, who is this Local Man who shows up in the newspaper all the time?" I am particularly fond of puns and subtle jokes, so I went with it.

I thought I was so clever . . . until I did a search and found this article from the Washington Post.

Made a character and really liked him. When it came time to pick global names, I chose @Local_Man, and the same name on the forums. It turns out that his sidekick, Area Man, ended up being my favorite and first 50, and it took me a long time to finally get the original Local Man to 50. I eventually grabbed the "Local Man" name on most of the servers, but there are a few folks out there with my name on their toons on other servers.

LOCAL MAN! The most famous hero of all. There are more newspaper stories about me than anyone else. "Local Man wins Medal of Honor." "Local Man opens Animal Shelter." "Local Man Charged with..." (Um, forget about that one.)

For me it is the name of a favorite character in a series of books. I liked the name and took the basic look of the character and made it my own while incorporating some of my real life tics, like hardly ever wearing shoes and what have you. Hell I have honestly been thinking of getting my real name changed to it.

  • Well, I had been using this name on other forums.
  • It is usually available, when Steve is already gone.
  • My real name. The R is the initial for my last name, Rogers.
  • Captain America was unavailable for a handle.

Years ago, the first time I went to log on to a forum, it asked for a user name. As the cursor sat there, blinking at me, I typed in the first thing I thought of.

It's been my online name ever since.

Mine came from the callsign (nickname) picked for me when I was with the 494th Fighter Squadron....back in the day.

Not all callsigns stick.....but mine lasted for 10 years....four different squardrons at two different bases.

When my wife called the last squadron I was assigned to she had to ask for Tally....nobody knew my real name.....geez guys look at the name tag......but NOOO......."hey Tally..... it's yer wife."

Way back, when I was playing EverQuest (original), I decided I wanted to see how long it would take for an inappropriate name to get nerfed. So I created a cleric and named him JeanLucPicard. A few days later and I logged in to find the name changed. Apparently, though, the GM who changed the name thought it would be funny to change it to StarGeek. I liked it so much, I've used the name ever since.

Once I had settled on my main character, Peppermint Cat, I thought I'd change my forum name (which was a random selection of letters at the time) to my main's name. Of course it was too long, so I just shortened it. >_>

I ran a HERO System game a while back, the players were villains and their main antagonist was Synapse. That name was taken so Neuronia she became.

I think this is the correct answer.

EVERYthing is borrowed from The Princess Bride. If it came before the movie was released, I blame time travel.

Oh, and you're welcome.

"Pendix - Librarian Warrior: Strong, Brave, But above all; WELL READ!" Was origionally a one scean-bit part character from a (nerdery warning) fanfiction I read years ago. About the same time I was playing Diablo 2, and, for reasons I no longer remember, gave that name to my Warrior.

Later on I remade the character in a D&D game, later as a Warrior/monk in Guildwars, then as a Warmace/Inv Tank in this here CoH (my first character; hence the Global & Forum Handle), and he has even been remade (as a Warrior) in WoW. He is my single most recuring character.

Also; as a fun coincidence; I discovered the author of that original fan fic and is an active Mission-Arcitect author.

It is my current global and my first 50. It used to be Erandil which was my very first toon I made when I moved from freedom to triumph a few weeks after I first started the game. I made him after witnessing a Stone brute wade through a map of enemies and not get hurt. I settled on the name in homage to a certain earthbending king on Avatar: The Last Airbender. Ever since I got him to 50 that's all everyone ingame has called me to it stuck.

named after my main character. rian, which people think is rain misspelled, is an alternate spelling of my name, ryan. a classmate in high school had it spelled this way, and i thought it was nice for going incognito while really not being incognito., Rian's blue skin and dragon themed origin lead me to go with frostdrake, also mildly related to my character from phantasy star online, frostwolf(a blue HUcast, or large robot scrapper'ish character) originally rian's last name was something else, but i had an issue with the login for the first week i played, and had to reroll him. no idea what it was.

My brain tends to get caught in circular patterns, and when I was a child I had a tendency to copy animal sounds. There was a family living next door to me that had a chihuahua one summer and when it barked at me it sounded like "narfnarfnarfnarf" which I would repeat to it for hours on end. It never got tired of it, and I never got tired of it.

So it got to the point where I would be trying to sleep at night and would still think about narfing at the dog. I forgot about it for 10 years or so until I saw Pinky and the Brain for the first time, and Pinky said "Narf!" and those afternoons of barking at a noisy little rat-dog all came back to me, and it was a moment of great amusement.

So, when it came time to set up a forum name for the beta boards of CoH, I tried to make it sound silver-agey and goofy and added 'Man' to the end of 'Narf' and I accidentally typed in a second 'n' and it kinda stuck.

Me? Well, I always liked squids. Okay, maybe like is too weak of a word. More like from ages 6-11, I was OBSESSED with squids. I have really no idea what triggered this fascination, all I know is that I read books about squids, watched tv shows about squids, dressed up as squids for halloween, and even had a four foot long plush giant squid that I slept with like a teddy bear.

Thankfully the (rather unhealthy in retrospect) obsession waned over time, and now squids are more like a subdued interest rather than a full blown obsession. Even so, my forum handle will attest that my inner six year old never quite left.
Myshaman back in EQ was named Targoth.

Before that, I had used the name for a necromancer npc in a D&D campaign I ran.

Vyver was my first..semi-permanent toon (as in, not testing powers etc)

And actually the toon I've gotten the farthest on (24 woooo~)

But I gave him up when I moved to a different server. (well..and because his build was extremely end. heavy and annoying)

But I'm remaking him soon. As soon as NCsoft stops sucking and accepts my Paypal payments for the cyborg booster pack.

I needed a name for Diablo 2. I personally couldn't think of anything good for my name. My step brother decides that Pwn You Noobs has a nice ring to it. He decided to change the You to U, either to make it easier to get the name or for a simpler name. Unfortunately for me, he didn't know how to spell pwn, so I became PownUnoobs. Despite the fact that I tend to be more of a noob myself and am not much for pvp, it stuck.

My first character I gave green skin and a natural/organic looking costume. Never mind that she was a katana/dark scrapper, I just liked the look. So I came up with the name Organica, and I liked it.
