This reminds me of a project I started a few years ago. I'm a sculptor and I like to make miniatures. The friends I was playing with at the time had this supergroup where we all had characters with leadership and we only played when we could all play together. It was a lot of fun and gave me my first level 50 hero. At the time I decided i could make everybody miniatures of their characters to celebrate, ans then if that worked out, try to offer commisions. Unfortunaltly, due to Real Life, I only ever got one character finished.
No idea how to post images here, so here is a link:

Anyway, this whole 3D printing thing is awesome, many props to Arcana. I know a guy who works with some of these things, using this info I might try to got some of my characters printed, so, Thanks. (Although I'd probably have more fun sculpting them myself

Quote:My theory has always been that Going Rogue was one of the worst things to happen to the subscriber numbers for the game. (Which is terrible because it gave me, personally, something that I truly longed for; a city that looked good and made sense.) Ealier in this thread someone posted revenue numbers that have, in the past, been put in a table. I remember when I saw that table that the steepest decline was roughly the period between the (too eairly) announcment of GR, and the quater before it's release. Then, after the release, the numbers there was no significant pickup. (Which is why I think Freedom was plan B.)And then there's GR. I still think it's some of the best writing and story-mechanics I've ever seen in a video game. But the problem with Praetoria proper is...was...whatever, that it's basically a glorified tutorial. It wasn't designed to rush through, and while it made leveling 1-20 enjoyable solo, veeeeeery few players want to do that in a MMO.
I think several factors were involved; firstly there was somthing of a content/stuff drought between the annoucment and the release, combined with the fact that people knew somthing big and cool was comming, I think a lot of players decided to leave the game, many planing to retun when GR hit. That was bad, it put pressure on GR to be realesed sooner, and that downtime period was ample opportunity for other games, (or IRL) to steal players attention away.
The, when realesed, GR was, perhapes, not what it needed to be to reinvigorate the game, the boxed sales were a temporary boost, but had no real long term, super positive effect on the subscriptions.
I am I saying that GR led us here? No. But perhapes if it had been handled differnetly the game would have been more sustainable. -
Since I wasn't vip when things were cut off, I can't post in the big announcment thread, so I'm going to post here.
This is terribly sad.
I've played a broad spectrum of MMOs, and I have confidence when I say this; CoH was my favorite. It was the one I kept comming back too time and time again. When the big game got tiring, when the space ecnomic sim got too hostile, I could always count on CoH to renew my faith in online games.
I will miss this game, I will miss my characters, the costumes, the base builder, the zones, the enemies, the Nemisis plots. But most of all I'll miss the community and the Devs.
So, Thankyou; War Witch, and Positron, and Dink, and Synapse, & Castle, and Arcanville, and Sam Tow, and Nethergoat, and Golden Girl and all the others. You don't know me, but I will miss you all.

I remember them doing the same thing with Aion. "The first MMO where you can fly, under your own power, with your own wings."
*gives NCSoft a flat look*
What are we? Chopped Liver? -
Quote:I'm gona want clarification from the devs before I23, let me tell you.Originally the devs were saying that the T9 VIP stuff would be cycled back into the T9 VIP slot, but more recently they've been saying they'd be made available through 'other means'. So basically the devs may have changed their minds, and I'm really ok with that as it's (hopefully) a change for the better.
As a T9 VIP player I'd much rather the costume sets be something I get access to for free in advance of other players than have the stuff be seen as some sort of status symbol or as something awesome and yet hopelessly out of reach. -
The unhelpful bit here is the 'More Superheros' bit; it is, shall we say, somewhat too broad. Do you mean more 'tights' textures? More overlay pattern for 'tights'? Masks with definition & geometry? Cowls? More options for Capes? (like chest detials on capes, or differnt mantles).
Also: while I'm here; I'd just like throw my support behind Sam's mucles-for-the-female-model campaign. Seriously, if there is somthing that is genuinely 'Superheroie' that has gone un-delt-with for too long, this is it. -
Quote:I think the Scrapper version lacks the taunt component.Entropic Aura which grants the user status protection, as well as a scaling +rech buff from nearby foes as well as -rech to foes in the aura. Brutes, Tankers and Scrappers get it while Stalker get Entropy Shield, a self status protection toggle that also gives a static +rech bonus.

What Sorcery is this?!?
. . . sorry, had to say it. -

Quote:My question would be: Will there be only one "winner" from each voting catogory, or is it possible that the final pack may include multiples (say both A & D from the raygun catogory) depending on how well they do?As I understand it, not everything that'll eventually ship with the set is up for a vote. Most of it, yes. All the essential stuff, yes. But certain costume pieces will simply be developed internally and make for a nice surprise later. Stay tuned for details on what makes the final cut.

Quote:How I would have written the well:The Techbot speaks the truth. The Well is not a bad idea in general, but it's its execution which sinks it hard.
It wouldnt just exist, it would have been created, long ago, by a group/race/civilisation (we could call them the Furies) that had just, almost, lost a war with a singularly being who was so powerful it threatened all of existence. Fearing that another individual may one day achieve similar levels of power, the Furies created a maguffin (call it The Well) that placed a throttle (a limiter if you will) on the amount of personal power a single individual could acquire.
However, knowing that such things were never perfect, they needed a fail-safe. So they made The Well semi-sentient, able to relax its on restrictions on select individuals in a controlled manner so if a threat to the universe were to arise that the limited forces of good could not deal with, The Well, could ensure that powerful Champions would be able to step up to the plate.
That would be the mechanics of it anyway, actual 'writing' should probably be left up to those who actually can (i.e. not me) -

Quote:To be fair while corporations occasionaly do positive (and sometimes even heroic) things, these things are rarely stories that make for entertaining films. "Y-corp gives millions to charity, charities are happy, the end." On the other hand, when corporations do bad things, those things are often wrapped in the kind of stuff that makes or can make for interesting stories; subertfuge, corruption, sercrets & lone heroes standing against them. When was the last time you saw a corporation portrayed as a hero)
(actually Stark Industuries can be portrayed as ethical most of the time, and while I only just started playing Deus Ex - Human Revolution, Sarif Industries is presented positively)
Well, movies are made by corpoations. -

We already have falling leaves aura, but a falling snow aura would be cool.

I think, for the purposes of this disscussion, it is worthy to note where
actually come from.
I'll reporduce them here:
Quote:The Tanker is an irresistible force combined with an immovable object. This Archetype can take and dish out all sorts of damage.
The Tanker is not totally invulnerable, but his skills allow the other Archetypes to play their parts, too. The Tanker is a devastating hand to hand combatant, and ranks second only to the Scrapper in sheer melee power. He possesses some ranged abilities, though far below those of the Blaster or the Defender.
Tankers proudly stand in the front lines of battle in order to protect their comrades and, of course, the innocent.
Quote:The Tanker can take it and dish it out all at once. The Tanker primarily can absorb vast amounts of damage, and hold his own in a fist fight. But the Tanker lacks any long range punch. The Tanker would prefer just to charge straight ahead anyway.
I would also like to point out that they do somewhat contradict themselves. "...devastating hand to hand combatant..." does not equate too "... hold his own in a fist fight".
(Personaly I prefer the 'newer' role description myself.) -

Quote:Oh, I grasp it, all too easily infact. It's just hard to imagine someone expecting to be taken seriously when they offer somthing like this up as an underpining of their argument. Not to hard to grasp, society is becoming dumber, more emasculate and selfish ...

Ahh good, I wasn't the only one who noticed this. -

Quote:My feedback about this is as follows:In the interest of making this information more readily available (the other thread , while a great conversation, is nearing 1300 posts), I'm going to summarize some details we've shared since the Pummit regarding Super Packs, as well as let you in on the results of our continuing internal discussions.
First to recap:- The price for Super Packs has been set at 80 Paragon Points Each. There will be a discount for buying in bulk, ala a box of packs, which is TBD.
- We are still discussing/considering concerns expressed regarding the exclusivity of costume pieces. We're open to the idea of making them available through an alternate method in the Paragon Market, however a decision has not been made regarding this particular topic.
If the costume items are exclusive to the packs, and there is no gauretee of getting one in a pack, I will not be spending money to obtain them (will not buying the packs at all).
If, however, the costume parts are avaliable via a differnet means I will almost certainly spend money on them.
Alternativly, if each pack gaurenteed at least one costume item 'card' (of no specific rarity), I would strongly consider buying the packs themselves (depending on total number required to get all the costume pieces, and how much that would cost me).
(it is worthy to note that I am one of those people to whom the consumables and reward merits are not worth real money under any circumstances) -
Well, Frag.
Does anyone know if Preems can still edit bases? -
Quote:Honestly, I never saw those anoucements. I got the idea from what happened to the other packs; being broken down into individual items & smaller 'bundels' that were more cost effective if you didnt want everything that came in the original packs.I'm curious where you got this idea. I recall the Devs saying at least once that the pre-Freedom costume packs were a better deal than what would come after. They also advertised when it was your "last chance" to get the packs, and I think they mentioned that it was a better deal again.

Quote:Hurn . . .If you wanted everything in the Going Rogue: Complete Items pack, it will be $11.25 USD compared with $7.99 before September.
However, you don't have to get the Shadowy Presence power, so that will save you $0.75.
Going Rogue: Complete
2 Auras (Alpha, Omega) - 160 PP worth of parts.
0 Costume Change Emotes
18 Costume Pieces (Alpha Belt, Alpha Boots, Alpha Chest, Alpha Gloves, Alpha Hat, Alpha Head Detail 1, Alpha Head Detail 2, Alpha Pants, Alpha Pattern, Alpha Shoulders, Omega Boots, Omega Chest, Omega Gloves, Omega Hat, Omega Head Texture, Omega Head Texture 2, Omega Pants, Omega Shoulders) - 600 PP worth of parts.
2 Regular Emotes (Heroic Stances, Villainous Stances) - 80 PP worth of parts.
1 Crappy Permanent Temp Power - 60 PP.
Well, I feel dam silly for waiting till Freedom to make this purchase. Even if I get just the costume parts thats still only a 50c saving over the original pack.
I think I'll hold off buying the costumes just yet, maybe it was a oversight and they will be added as a 400pp bundle at a later date. Maybe. -
I already own the Going Rogue box. I got the pre-order, so I didnt get the costumes. I was always planing on getting around to buying the pack, then Freedom happened & it looked like the costume parts of the booster packs could be bought for less than the booster, so I held off. Ahh well, they are quite small sets, I think if I buy all the pieces seperatly they will still cost less than the pack did (just more than the other bundled sets).
As a side question; if you buy a part in the costume creator, it's avaliable for all 3 body types, not just the one you were on when you bought it, right?
