and here I was wondering what cool little extra I could get for my son since his birthday is a couple weeks away... His main character is a steampunk ninja named Steam Shinobi.

Especially like the bring it animation, VERY matrix! Very good for a taunt pre battle! Smoke animation is what i expected though but bit darker.
Overall verdict = very nice!

The Ninja run looks great and I really like it for the most part. On the other hand, I REALLY hate that something this cool that I've wanted for so long was only made availabe thru a booster pack. I wish this would have been introduced into the game in a new travel pool with three other new powers. It costs waaaay to much endurance to not be able to slot it, and it turns off CJ. The biggest draw back is I want to use it IN battle. I move around alot while fighting and I want to have that style IN battle.
I'll use it, but something as cool as this could have been intoduced to the game alot better than this. |

It's funny, I brought up this idea as a different option for travel in a Suggestions and Ideas thread about 3 or 4 months ago. My idea was to have a travel power that had run speed faster than sprint, but slower than super speed and also had more jump boost than combat jumping but less than super jump....all in one power with new run/jump animations for the more "natural" type of characters.
This idea was met with 3 or 4 pages of trolls telling me how stupid I was was and the idea was idiotic. Well....just wanted to say HA HA BITE ME! Thank you. |

...I like this...not alot but I like it. Can the Devs through in a "Loyalty" reward for shelling out an extra 50 bucks for all 5 origin boosters?
All that is left is the Mutant Booster...I am really waiting for the Mutant Pak...I am gnawing my cuticles for this...
I bought the Tech Booster, Magic Booster, Science Booster and now the Natural Booster... all that is left is the Mutation Booster.
I do admit that I would have wanted to see a non ninja paart for the natural, something street fighter like also for this.
Do the devs know if they are going to do a second round of booster packs?

I like this booster a LOT. The animations on [Ninja Run] are glorious, and BaBs deserves plaudits for them. Running back, forward, left and right have subtly different animations. Jumping forward and back have different falling animations. They're all fluid, smooth and altogether a joy to behold. Or at least have been on my 5'ish male Katana/Regen scrapper. I've not tried them on a female or huge toon yet.
The Costume Change emotes are a good addition, even if trying to use them with a weapon drawn (any weapon, even a pulse rifle) causes them to not play.
The Costume parts, well I like them, but they seem to be (at first glance) a bit more of a one trick pony than the Magic Booster parts (i.e. less universally applicable), but beating the High Collar Cape/Cloak is going to be a hard trick to pull off, IMO.
The other emotes? I'm not a big user of emotes, so I actually forgot to try them out...
Speaking of the various bits, it's not too clear, but on the Plaync page, there are links embedded in the Emotes, Costume Change emotes and Ninjar Run headings. They just look like underlined text at first glance, but click them and you'll get a short demonstration video of the emote/animation.
All in all it's sick squid I'm not regretting spending

Swift + Mental Training + Sprint (all 1x for Run Speed) + Ninja Run matches my Widow's previous speed for SJ. I don't get as much vertical, but it's enough for most applications. I've respecced out of SJ to use it as my main travel power.
Dispari has more than enough credability, and certainly doesn't need to borrow any from you.

By the way, I think the frat-boy section of the playerbase will have their disappointment at the /e teabag emote more than made up for by /e pushup.
It's a cool emote - but I can't help thinking it's going to be used in all the wrong ways.

The emotes I could take or leave, costume change options are always welcome, but Ninja Run is awesome. I don't even really care that it can't be enhanced. I sincerely think you need to make a less ninja-y version, and introduce it as the third power of a new power pool. It's a brilliant compromise between Superspeed and Super Jump, when both are too extreme for your character concept.
Small quibble, the Ninja Run jumping animation clips just a bit when comboed with a shield. The other arm goes too far forwards.
The costume pieces are nice, although they're not lighting me on fire. Like all of these sets, what I'm likely to do is just tear them apart and cannibalize them for other costumes. The plain robes are nice and minimalistic, I expect I can find an excuse to use them somewhere.
Oh yeah, LOVE the Warrior half-helmet with Detail 1. I've been dying for a helmet shaped like that for ages. Thanks, Jay!

Among the awesome things about Ninja Run on a Katana/SR:
1) Running with the katana out is supremely cool. Point down at the side in the classic pose when running, sword-arm wraps around body with jump/flip. Just great. 2) When you run backwards you turn towards the camera and run while peeking over your shoulder. 3) Jumping backwards leads to a FULL LAYOUT BACKFLIP! *squeeeeee!* Also, with Quickness(1 IO)+Hurdle(1 IO)+Sprint(1 IO)+NR my lvl 39 has Run Speed 50 mph and Jump 57 mph. Not quite up to the capped 86 mph I get with SS, but darn good! |
I'm at work, so unable to check out the booster pack right now, but I have a few questions
1) The Ninja Run power will work on any character regardless of origin, correct? 2) Is Ninja Run enhanceable? 3) If Ninja Run is not enhanceable, can its effect be further improved with the selection of powers like Swift, Hurdle, or Combat Jumping? 4) If this is the "Natural" origin booster pack, I guess we're out of luck on things like backpacks, quivers, scabbards, etc., huh? Unless maybe (hopefully) they'll appear in a future pack. Looking forward to seeing the new costume pieces, but Ninja Run is probably what will ultimately make me plunk down my $9.99 for this pack. |

This pack is so [WARNING EXPLICIT LYRICS] awesome. Putting the videos in the NCStore was a stroke of brilliance that got me to buy it in a heartbeat.
Love /em bringit, the ninja leap costume change and, of course, the ninja run.
I see tremendeous potential for some of those costume pieces, especially if there are "metal/metalic" options for some of the hard surfaces.
In short (too late!) this might just be the best booster pack to date. Thank you devs!
Wow, so yeah. I'm going to have to get really good about remembering to turn it off and turn CJ back on when getting into combat.
I don't suppose there's a way we could have Ninja Run simply suppress Combat Jumping instead of turning it off? So when I engage in combat I can just turn off Ninja Run and still have my (meager) defense? *ducks* Sorry Devs! Still not complaining! I love youuuu! ;] |
