The only thing bugging me about i16 is how it's once again bringing the cranky players and doom-sayers out of the woodwork. Really people: if you don't like X, Y, or Z...

why do you still play?

I wish I had room to put that in my sig in big flashing red letters but I want to keep the word out on my oh noes they's broekn!!111!1!11! MA arcs which I will still quite happily play while looking for other arcs to play regardless of what XP they do or don't give.

Otherwise I'm happy as a clam with it. I've changed a few toons' power colors and created a new Controller with pink healing powers to annoy WE NEEDZ A HEAL0RZ!11!! teams with.

The future looks bright and multi-colored.

I like I16... the amount of diversity now is truly amazing. My only suggestion is tone down the White in the light powers... I am getting complaints from guildies that the white powers going off are blinding. I have cataracts already and am partially blind so it doesn't hurt me none... but its awesome to see the blinding whiteness

On a more serious note thank you.

Sub numbers have been gone from quarterly reports since Q4 2008. That said, there's no doubt that we've seen some decreases since Issue 14's excitement. You can speculate that it is because of all kinds of reasons.

CO was released. DDO has gone free to play. School has started up again. Summer is pretty much over at this point. Aion is releasing soon, too, and is highly anticipated. Maybe the AE situation has been having an increasing detrimental impact on populations. Issue 16 might have a positive impact, it might not. Now that the situation with AE has been "fixed" we may see recovery, if that actually had an impact on player levels at all. All the other causes, though, aren't really fixable.

Havent really played with it much, the super sidekicking threw me intially as every one was auto side kicked and i had not sent sk requests , and then i selected a lower mission and i was auto exemped and was surprised to be getting xp.

Icon was busy when stuck my head in the door

But from waht i seen of it so far looks good

i resubbed too check out issue 16

changing power colors is nice for someone that's interested in that sorta thing but sadly i'm not that someone.

the only real thing i'm happy about is the disable "mail feature" ...and in a way that's sad.

hopefully going rouge adds new content maybe then i would keep the sub for than more than a month at a time.

mainly i'm just seeing what the issue is about other than that...i lost all interest in pvp after the changes in i13 and don't see much for sticking around with the content light QOL heavy issues that's been the norm for the past couple of years.

i don't see much worth too actually stick around for.

I rather love the new issue, I have been having fun tweaking my main's and my various alts' powers and I just love the new challenges the new mission difficulty system has to offer!

I mean seriously if you can't find fun in this issue, you are bored with the game as a whole. I like the direction COX has been taking and I am really looking forward to what Going Rogue is going to have to offer!

SSK & New Diff settings have basically reinvented how I play. If I get offered a team I can just accept, knowing I'll be progressing my character anyway and will be able to contribute without worrying about my Mentor leaving.

If I'm solo I can ramp the difficulty to the ragged edge and go to town.

Pretty colours are pretty and all (yellow & violet elec looks great) but these two features are the surprise hit of the Issue for me.

Because we care for the game and feel that there's also room for negative feedback, that is if people in general are genuinely having fun with the new issue.

And yeah I thought that the other game that was just released had something to do with relatively low player numbers.

that's what i'm talking about and totally turned me off playing this game.

i'll explain i play on villain side and i was excited about finally being able to get the troll badge
Regenerator.

because the only way you can get it is well paper mission from 10-20 with a team size of 8.

ok so i repeatably did the mission solo and got the badge and that was it.

was the experience fun?

not really and then i started to realize that i was plotting what badges i could obtain next now that i was able too set the team size ...and i stated to think ....do i really want to level a toon just too collect badges again.

not really.

collecting badge's can be time consuming ....but i can honestly say fun never actually factored in it.

more like "it was something to do"

that's why i say i hope they add some new content soon ....yeah this stuff they added in this issue is ok ....but in hindsight is the stuff added worth spending a monthly fee waiting until another "soon" content laden issue and or expansion comes out ,no not really.

when that happens i'll be happy to shell out the fee.

edit: cough or if pvp was changed back before it was issue 13

I've got no prob with negative feedback, I've provided that myself, and I can understand some folks aren't all jazzed by the new Y content and would have rather had some X added instead (patience is a virtue btw); I've been there too.

I was referring to the vitriol-oozing posters who's anger at something in the game is a bottomless pit of darkness and grainy, flavorless snack-cakes; you'd think the devs came round to their place and kicked their puppies.

Lighten up players, yeesh. Or stop playing.

In before neg-rep!!

My personal thoughts:

1) Not sure why I don't get into costumes much anymore (I have two 50s still on their first) but I enjoyed looking at the options. In a week or so I'll start redoing some costumes.

2) SSK is wonderful. The fact that I can play whatever character I want to play and just join my friends is game changing for me.

3) Challenge settings. This is end game content for me. I was already playing my 50s more than my leveling characters thanks to IOs giving me dream builds to try to obtain and Oroubus/AE allowing me to do it without holding on to a particular mission. Being able to hit the AoE cap while solo was wonderful.

4) Hopefully they are datamining just how bad the drops are. I was on a team of 5 last night for a few hours. Granted, we were fighting Level 54 bosses, so it wasn't a super fast pace, but I only had 3 inspirations drop and 2 pieces of salvage. The whole team was commenting on the lack of drops.

(Is anyone else having issues running Herostats now? What I thought was a new lag issue on the West Coast servers turned out to be Herostats just eating up my CPU).

Another thing: Thanks to the badge number reductions, one of my villains now has Hero Slayer. I didn't think I'd ever get that if I played this game for three decades.

Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.

My favorite part of I16 is the ability to set enemies at -1, then add more of them (i.e. set for 2 or 3 players). All of my lowbies love it, but especially my Brutes. Pre SOs, pre Stamina and/or other powers to help deal with lack of end, playing a Brute was really frustrating for me, because as soon as I'd finally gotten some Fury going, I was dead out of end and usually low on hp too. Now my Brutes (and others) are ripping through missions at a good clip, with just the right amount of MY definition of "challenge".

Fine-tuning difficulty is something the game's been missing for a long time.

Directly, the QoL changes have been kind of nice but not earth-shattering. I thinkered in the new character creator checking out various combinations but wasn't motivated to alter anything.

Indirectly, I think the issue has been phenomenal given how happy it's made so many players, getting them out of AE and interested in playing with others. This makes for more grouping opportunities and socializing. Hopefully the quantity of QUALITY AE missions arcs improves. I'd almost like to see a reset of the ratings to reflect less bias.

One other note, after tripping the 51 mark and getting all the arachnos helmets, I was sparked to think about a few heroes who will be going rogue -- looking forward to it.

Ahhh, totally forgot about the badges. Logging on to Hero Slayer on a few villians and Illusionist on a few heroes was nice.

Why , yes. This was one of the two things I liked in this "free update."

Hero slayer is relatively easy if you milk Infernal, but not fun at all.
Toxic tarantula is a welcomed change, because the badge unlocks content on red side.
Same for the damage badge which is required for accolade.

I was amused when devs removed AE badges because they were afraid of grind, but left the normal badges as they were. I'm glad they came to their senses on that part aswell.

I'm afraid I don't quite follow you. I solo'd mostly before AE, and AE was my first real run at grouping and like was mentioned earlier, it was easy and fast to find a group and get going. Now with AE dead, and I do mean dead, and with the great new difficulty slider it sounds like most are off solo'ing again, me included. I'm not sure who this makes happy, unless you were one of the people "offended" by the broadcast chatter in Atlas. /shrug.

There's a segment of this community that puts "content" in a straight jacket and says if it isn't a developer created story arc then it's worthless.

Which is ridiculous. Content = new stuff to do.

The mission difficulty changes alone re-make the entire game, if you choose to explore them. The same with powerset proliferation. These kinds of structural changes give us new ways to explore the existing game structure. And that's content.

So is power customization. I spend a lot of time at the tailor fiddling with my characters, and I'm not alone. These changes give us the ability to integrate our powers with our costumes and open up new vistas of character creation. I've already dumped a bunch of time into exploring new looks for existing characters, and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

New canon-advancing story stuff is coming in GR. In the meantime, I'm very happy with all the new toys the tech crew has given us to play around with. They do change the gameplay experience, they do provide new ways to experience the world, and they are content.

I think the new issue is alright, not jaw-dropping alright, but pretty good.

Spending a bit of time tweaking my characters powers color, or animations, is welcome. But the biggest thing for me is the new difficulty options. I rarely play lowbies anymore and spend quite a bit of time on my 50's. It makes a good challenge for my twinked out Brute and others.

But I do wish there was more content per-se. I guess I will have to wait for GR to see that. (I never cared for AE since is hit the servers as far as content alas)

What, they weren't allowed to team in MA?

I wonder what all that broadcast chatter was about, then.

Having a lot of players concentrated in a small area like Atlas creates many more grouping and socializing possibilities than having those same players spread out across a bunch of different zones.

Why would it?
The rather draconian changes to custom enemies seems more likely to discourage the participation of story-driven authors than otherwise.

You didn't like MA farms- great. Don't pretend that getting rid of them will usher in some incredible golden age of teaming and authoring. All it did was shuffle players around the game world, it did nothing to change their basic predispositions.

I colored my powers.

Yay.

Just had my first full teaming since I16 last night, and I've seen a negative. Most of the team had picked BRIGHT colors with over-saturation, and with all those buffs on ever character and ever effect, I found myself literally getting sick. My eyeballs were actually hurting. I'm guessing the effect might not be so bad in open air missions, but in tight quarters fighting it was painful. Might do for some to keep in mind that sometimes a little subtlety in color is actually a good thing.

Now the second team I went with last night had understood this, and it was a beautiful sight. Lots of fun!

Oh, and I'm really liking the super sk / exemplar stuff. Especially the xp for exemplar. We had a guy ready to quit right after joining because it was below his level, until he realized he could get xp too.
