In my own case I picked the extra zap because it fit concept better for me, but it's a functionally decent pick as well.

I picked lightning clap in that freed up power slot... I doubt many would, I'm aware that most hate these powers, but I've always loved them, and with such high recharge, you can stack it and perma stun a LOT of bosses at once, provided you can find a corner to backstop them, and provided they aren't too high con.
^This. It will take some time to go villain, do the PPP questline then get back blueside, but its so worth it. Two power picks nets you lightning strike and ball lightning which you will use both. I tried both char and ring of fire and rarely used either for anything more than IO slotting. Ring of fire has a nice set that can get you melee defense (enfeebled something or another maybe) and Char can get some Basilisks Gaze. But Mu is solid gold with no wasted picks.

And I took lightning clap as well with a last pick, two slotted with the cheap purple stun IO for the added endurance bonus. Good times!
  2. This is my Elm/Sd scrapper, and I absolutley love him. The combo of LR + SC + Ball Lightning is everything you would dream it would be, and then some.

  3. I tired of my FM/WP scrapper and Claws/WP brute in the 30's and I'll tell you why, that was 30+ levels of complete and utter dominance. I know specifically on my claws/WP brute, once I had spin slotted I was upping my difficulty level so I could shred up more baddies per map. By 20, forget it, with the green and blue bars not moving due to health, FH and RttC, and QR + Stamina all being slotted, and having spin and focus fully slotted, I mowed through everything easy peasy. I actually took a break from leveling so I could farm AE for tickets, yes, farming at levels 16-20. On both toons I started working up my defenses and went for s/l softcapped builds in the 30-40's and became unstoppable, add that to still using my main attacks I had gotten from level 6 and 18 and I started getting bored. Both leveled all the way to 50 and I have never leveled anything that was smoother and basically easy mode.

    Willpowers only downside, no DDR.

And yea, you have no AAO or Shieldcharge either. But I want to see a shielder start farming in the low 20's.
  4. Got my Fire/Shield/Leviathan scrapper to 50 and IO'd out, then I got my DM/Shield/Soul brute to 42, finished the villain epic storyline and got gloom and IO'd him out too.

    Lets see, that gives me a 50 BS/SD Scrapper, 50 ElM/SD/Mu Scrapper, 50 FM/SD Scrapper, 50 SD/SS Tanker and a 42 DM/SD Brute, most all of them IO'd out with uncommon incarnates.

I've tried going back to non-shield toons but I just can't play them for long. And I have a 50 Claws/WP Brute and 50 FM/WP Scrapper, they were alot of fun leveling, especially early when they were tearing through things faster than anything else should be capable of, but I can't play them much anymore. Man I wish I could make a claws/SD scrapper.
  5. Here's what I'm currently running, guys an AoE beast. And I just picked up the uncommon Recharge/Healing alpha slot.

If hover/fly is what you like, then it's the power you should pick. If you don't mind hovering around in melee, then go for it. Just keep in mind hover can suck down the endurance pretty fast as opposed to CJ which uses very little.

As to which alpha to shoot for, Recharge will help you out greatly. Anything that gets hasten, shield charge, FSC and the rest of your attacks up faster in your chain is pure win.
  7. Yea, with I-19 you can do quite a bit more with your build. By comparison here is mine with the three extra choices in powers since you now automatically have the fitness pool.

  8. When you respec put your Steadfast Res/Def into OwtS, that will gain you an extra slot.
  9. I've made some changes making you much more endurance efficient. You had manuevers, weave, hover and siphon life woefully underslotted for endurance which I believe would have made your life a nightmare. I also managed to drop CJ and pick up hasten which still gets you to the defense softcap and hasten even one slotted will bring everything back up quicker. I take it you wanted hover/flight, so I kept that. I'm not so sure I like your picks for the epic set and I'm not sure you'd benefit more from grant cover for DDR and OwtS for fun, but I left that as is for you.

Hope this gives you a couple ideas.

I will admit, the character has end issues. I hate that. But I'm running a lot of toggles, and sometimes when Hasten drops, or OwtS, I have had my toggles drop! Nasty! Even conserve power requires end... and I find I have to cycle Conserve Power throughout mobs, with my old build I did'nt have to... I may have to fix that. I can't imagine using the Endurance incarnate... it just feels wasteful.
Sounds like you've asked and answered your own question as to what Alpha slot enhancement to go for.

  12. Howdy guys, can you look over my DM/SD brute build and let me know if it needs any help? I went SM PPP for gloom and dark obliteration. Will gloom be something I could use or should I just go Body Mastery for conditioning and physical perfection? Thanks for any and all help.

  13. My main is a 50 FM/WP scrapper and I've also got a half dozen or so shield scrappers at 50 as well including a heavily IO'd ElM/SD scrapper. The achilles heel of /WP is DDR. My /WP scrapper has softcapped S/L defense, a top notch attack chain, serious resists and godly regen, but I found myself floundering somewhat in the 40-50 range by running into Cimorians, Arachnos and other defense debuffing enemies. Against everything else in the game, level 1-50, it was easy mode and that was before I started IO'ing him and he only got stronger as I started throwing in all those kinetic combats.

My IO'd out ElM/Shielder by comparison doesn't seem to break a sweat with those guys after I got his DDR up in the high 80's. True, he'll never have the same regen as the /WP scrapper, but he more than makes up for it with the added offense. It's the reason I have one IO'd /WP scrapper at 50 and 7 IO'd shield scrappers at 50.

I'll say this though, in terms of survivability, 1-40 is easy mode for willpower guys and they are the kings. Also for the cheapskate, /wp is cheap and strong out of the box. But once you get the shield to the 40's, and invest some in IO's, it's a beautiful thing to see and play.

  15. Here's my build I whipped up for you. Like Head_Kracker I made it so for I-19 you won't have to take the fitness pool, and left you extra slots in brawl and rest for you to slot them with later. Also, I don't know how to slot Water Spout, never used it before. My build gets you good recharge, properly slotted attacks and defenses, and softcapped to melee/ranged and AoE, with most of the powers you picked and some you should have.

^This. And after spin I hit focus which is a ranged attack. After those two attacks everyone is usually back on their feet and back in range to start your attack chain over again.

*And Shockwave is a VERY brutish attack, much moreso than Eviscerate.*

  18. Here's a build I use, a little on the costly side, but it covers most all of the bases. It's softcapped to S/L/E/N, solid resists that can be boosted by SoW, excellent regen and recovery and a fully slotted attack chain.

  19. Just to confirm, my scrapper had to go full-blown villain to be able to get the Patron-Arc missions started for the Mu Mastery line. Just running around the Isles being a Rogue isn't enough.
  20. I'll put my softcapped Elec/Shield/Mu scrapper up against anyone. He can lay the hurt on a couple spawns of minions and drop them in seconds without getting a scratch on his shiny shield.

BU + fully saturaited AAO + LR + SC + TS + Ball Lightning = death. Oh, and I'll throw in a Chain Induction while waiting for AAO to build up, so thats jumping around as well when the AOE's go off.

So far, I've slotted for def but he still seems very squishy. I'm at work so can't post my build atm.

I guess I'm just wondering which IO Sets would be best for the powers that accept defence sets.

    Thanks!
I usually go for S/L defense instead of melee defense. For S/L mainly look for Kinetic Combats for your attacks and Reactive Armor for your resist powers. To get respectable numbers in defense you'll likely need to take CJ, Weave and Maneuvers.

Aye, thats the point I was trying to make in regards to spending more on the build I proposed. Buying better IO sets as opposed to purples like C&E mentioned. I sometimes like to mix in a 2-slot of purples in my attacks for more endurance, or a full 5 slot for the recharge time, but with a Claws/WP toon, neither of those are really neccesary.

But you could easily replace the Serendipities with LoTG's, the Smashing Haymakers with Kinetic Combats, etc. and then you'll notice a difference indeed. Thats gonna cost some bucks though.

As for Shockwave, I love it on my brute, it's very brutish. On my scrapper though I like eviscerate, it does nice damage and if you angle it right you can hit multiple targets and thats always nice.

Grant Cover when added to a double stacked and enhanced Active Defense is going to just about get you to the cap in DDR. I'll take DDR any day of the week over a clicky power (that is still nice) that will be mostly forgotten since I usually have AD on auto and try to remember to hit hasten every time its up. In I-19 you'll be able to grab both with the extra picks you'll pick up, so it'll be a case of having your cake and eating it too.
