4 guys that don't look anywhere near what superman should and then Routh and Welling... not much of a poll.

Matt Bomer
Henry Cavill
Joseph Gordon-Levitt
Jon Hamm
Brandon Routh
Tom Welling

Those appear to be the most common names people bring up for the role now a days. (well 4 to my knowledge I have no idea who thought of Matt Bomer or Joe Gordan-Levitt, but the other's I have seen turn up on other articles.)

Why would Tommy from third rock of the sun be superman?(yes I know he was Cobra commander too.) Jimmy Olsen sure...but not Clark. Basically two guys who have already been superman are two best candiates off that list.

I must be really out of the loop; I haven't heard of any of those people.

Routh and Bomer! Those would be my choices. Though on the poll I voted for Routh, as I think he deserves another go at it, and think he did a really great job.

Bomer would also need to pack on some pounds, and that just might ruin it for White Collar!

While I'd like to see Routh in the role again, Zack Snyder has confirmed that he's out. The studio wants to make a clean break from Superman Returns. Shame, as I thought Routh was really good when the material he was working with allowed for it.

While Joseph Gordon-Levitt is one of my favourite actors (seriously, check out Brick and the Lookout), he's really not the guy for Superman. Hamm I haven't seen in anything. Bomer and Cavill I've never heard of. I thought Routh did a good job with the roll in a not great movie. While I think Tom Welling might be the best of the bunch for the role, it might be weird seeing the same actor playing the same character in a different continuity.

Personally, I'd probably go to Routh with a better Superman movie as he's already established in the role.

Write-in vote for Samuel L. Jackson:

"I'm tired of these motherf*****' land grab fiascos by motherf*****' Lex Luthor!"

Optional: Halloween party where Clark/Jackson is dressed as a pirate, complete with...an eyepatch.

M. Bison: For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life. But for me...it was Tuesday.

McClane: Hey, thanks for saving my daughter's life.
Farrell: What was I going to do?
McClane: That's what makes you "that guy."

I'd like to see Christopher Reeve in the role; he's not with us anymore, but they could CGI him and use voice sampling technology. There's plenty of source material out there to grind through a supercomputer to make this happen.

Just do the same as has happened for all the previous Superman movie kickoffs - cast a complete unknown.

Everyone else (especially Welling) has far too much baggage for a clean break.

Matt Bomer is 5'11" so yeah, no.

Not sure if Tom Welling has the acting capability to carry a movie, or perhaps the creative team just hasn't given him enough to work with.

I like how Routh has been involved in geek projects since Superman Returns and taken on roles that just allow him to have fun.

I might also consider Jared Padalecki.

I liked Routh. The problem was that he was in a bad movie.

Bleeding Cool picked up on a rumor that Snyder's looking for an older Superman for this flick. If that's true, Jon Hamm seems like the obvious choice. His look is right for the character, again provided it's an older version than what we've seen in past flicks.

I'm all for Welling continuing his role as Superman. I could see Hamm as well, but he looks a bit old if this is supposed to be a re-launch.

God i hope no one the studio producing this thinks this poll is a good idea.

I can't see them going with Tom Welling as to too many it would seem to be trying to convince people that Smallville is related to the movie and not stupid. I think he would be capable of doing it, but I'd like to see him acting outside of Smallville, as ... well, Smallville doesn't do anyone justice.

Routh, I had no problem with in the new movie, aside from the SuperStalker and SuperDeadbeatDad parts, but those aren't really his fault. I think. I'd be willing to give him a shot again as well.

The other guys? No idea who they are. Not gonna say much for or against them. I'm also open to getting a completely new lead (esp if Nolan is the one picking him out), either a new nobody, or a semi-established/known actor.

14% for Matt Bomer..aka Bryce Larkin of Chuck? I think he'd actually make a really good choice as Superman, much better than many of the others. He looks good as Clark and Supes, and he's already played Supes in Japanese Commercials plus he was the top choice for Superman Returns until Singer signed as the director and brought Routh in.

He's my second choice. And if Routh is a "no way" contender, just because of Superman Returns (which is sad), I wouldn't mind seeing Bomer as the new Superman.

I could see Bomer in the role if he can sort of crank back the sex appeal a couple notches. Clark should be a great looking guy, but the pictures I've seen of Bomer really kind of scream "Look what a sex symbol I am!" I haven't seen anything he's been in so I couldn't comment on his acting, but if he's able to adopt a more restrained look and vibe I think he could probably pull it off really nicely.

That said, with Routh officially out of the running I think my pick would be Tom Welling. He knows the character, he's been playing him forever, and I don't really have a problem with a movie that's in continuity (or at least not directly contradictory) with Smallville. As long as it's good, I'm in.

Is there some law people under 6 foot can't be super heroes in movies now?(even characters like wolverine whom are actually supposed be short.) If they're close enough to the height give or take a few inches 1 way or another I don't see an issue.

Yeah, and Stallone is a lot shorter than that but he still manages to do OK as a manly action star. They can do wonders these days with camera work, custom footwear, and choosing the rest of the cast appropriately. Being a hair under six foot really isn't that big a deal.
