If people see that your rep is off, they probably won't bother red dinging you.

When you post helpful stuff, like answering questions in Player Help or posting some news item or making mainstream comments (anti-DOOOOM!-crying is a good example), turn it back on for a day or two and you might get a green ding or two.
I had my rep off because well i don't know it bothered me seeing red below my name because in general i joke alot in real life and i get along with basically everyone.

but you know what you bring up some good points most of the red i had gotten was because i had spoken my mind and i don't hold back...i have my own opinion on things .

i'm not gonna do some song and dance to fit into the "mainstream view" that's silly

i don't kiss behind in real life, i ain't gonna do it on a game forum that i pay a sub for.

so basically i'm gonna show my rep instead of hiding it and that's that ,i ain't gonna hide the fact i have my own opinion .

edit: my sub runs out tomorrow anyway so it really doesn't matter .

edit: far as the rep system it reminds me of all those sad clowns over on the champions online/startrek online boards how they acted with there horde mentality ...and where did it get them?

    the same thing here.

that's the thing that kinda irked me the video is kinda hard to follow like if you didn't know what they where talking about you wouldn't have a clue.

like i sat down and rewatched it ...the stuff they talk about is all over the place .

    0:00 -0:25
    positron:
talks about growing up loving the tvshows and comicbooks that revolved around superheroes basically likes the genre.

-which is good , if we where discussing city of heroes but what thoughts went into going rouge?-

    0:25 -0:30
talks about being involved with the game and the ability to create own stories and characters

    -needs elaboration-

    0:30-0:30
"what going rouge represents is something we always wanted and where actually able to realize that now"

    -huh?
are you saying that some new was involved so now you can make the game or you where just making the game and figured out why you where doing it in the first place?-

it kinda jumps around like that throughout the video to that point i don't know what they are talking about ....it's like that with everybody except for

    sexy jay
even though it was humorous it got the point across of customization that you can make just about anything even a lumberjack.

    babs
gives good info about the game far as new powersets ,new zones ,new animations but you don't know who is talking

like babs starts talking at 2:55 -at 3:06 pops up on screen disappears 3:10 so it's like you have to catch whats he is saying quickly in a window of 15seconds while being distracted by images of the game.

ghost falcon he's gives really good concise info but he talks so low and monotone you really have to concentrate and listen hard to follow what he is saying to make that worse his part's are broken up through out the video when it should have been in the first part because he gives really good info about the game that sets a baseline for what going rouge is about.

it's just hard to follow and i don't know how a new person would interpret it,in all honesty if i didn't know what going rouge was before hand i wouldn't have a clue what i just watched.

positron seemed genuine in what he was talking about but also seemed like "ok ,is this about over with?"

babs seemed awkward and maybe nervous "i like animation" um yeah "crickets fade to black."

ghost falcon umm... monotone comes to mind?

    i agree.

but i'm not sure how ncsoft would actually profit other than box sales and costume packs from what i could tell paragon/ncsoft wouldn't have to worry about server maintenance and operation since onlive would be taking care of that.

and more than likely the regular ncsoft servers wouldn't be accessible since onlive would be providing the space

but if anything it would be pure profit with each costume pack server transfer and so forth.

onlive already has 15$ a month fee for the server use ..also if people don't want to pay the 15$.

i think i read somewhere they would have a rental service available where you could just rent a game and not pay the 15$.

if anything ncsoft could charge what they would receive minus the cost the server operation what they make 5$ profit for every each 15$?

or some such i don't know ,i'm not in accounting.
  7. i was looking threw onlive that up coming game distribution service and i thought....ah has city of heroes considered selling the game on well onlive .

i don't know if they would be interested since the game would be running on onlive servers.

if anything it would be extra revenue and no cost since its running on someone else server.

    but any who.

edit: also i didn't pen the sequels i thought the movie stood well on it's own and i didn't want to write scripts turning it into a franchise it took me many years of researching out all the little details in it and i am rather proud of that film...so if you see the sequels to this movie, i didn't have a hand in it.

    and in away it shows

when you judge people that is actually the antithesis for a community and instead a dictatorship

"A government controlled by one person or a small group of people. In this form of government the power rests with one person. Such power is often obtained forcibly. A dictator usually takes away much of people's freedom."

when you judge and decide what's right or wrong using labels like troll/fanboy basically closing the mouths of others then community cease's too exist.

what's funny is everyone is getting along and being creative and we "all" are poking fun at what has gotten people kicked off forums or stirred great debates.

you know when i first got this game , i read the forums off and on for about a year before even making an forum account and when i did ...i posted a thread discussing pvp well next thing i know, i got all sorts of very rude people posting all sorts of none sense.

come to find out it was pwnz at the time i didn't know what pwnz was because i was new too posting on the forums ,but i was a really put off by the experience to the point i didn't want nothing to do with the forums after that i had managed to get in the "threads to watch" which the whole point was too mess with people.

nothing really was done to them until boards where changed and they got stuck in forums games.

but anyway my point is and the reason i brought up "tunnel vision" is that's what these threads suffer from you have the same exact people posting in basically the same exact threads over and over again ...and nothing changes its like this "i'm a vet" "i don't agree" "jake emmert" "gone to the americans" "fruit salad" "first after red name" "dooooomm"

it's even going on in this thread.

"oh someone's monotone complaining QQ doom"

stuff like drives people off that adversely also pay the server bills and the dev's salary and also factors in any potential new players .

in away i think that's why the game has gotten stale because the devs have been listening to the tunnel vision crowd and not to the overall majority hopefully things will turn around i know i already canceled my sub "sorry animated cat tails " just isn't my thing .

but like usual if they come out with the next issue, i'll give coh another spin .

but i don't expect much in the way of change, just tunnel vision.

Like The Black Rock, like Rousseau and her team, they weren't going to explain the mythology of the Island, they were the mythology, showing us how people come to the Island and some exploit it (which was touched upon as a theme in an episode this year).

The purgatory/well of furies is only relevant to the main cast, the survivors of 815 (more or less). The Well of Furies were for those deemed worthy, which was a few of the 815 survivors, finally and the purgatory was a human construct for lost souls and not specific to any one group (since Ben and Desmond were a part of it, you can't say it was only 815 survivors)
thanks for the synopsis ,but even still i don't get it .. why go threw great lengths to set up these elaborate bunkers.

from what i take of the dharma iniative far as there origins is this

    Quote:
The Dharma Initiative and its origins are first explored in the episode "Orientation" by an orientation film in the Swan Station. Dr. Pierre Chang, explains that the project began in 1970, created by two doctoral candidates from the University of Michigan, Gerald and Karen DeGroot , and was funded by Alvar Hanso of the Hanso Foundation. They imagined a "large-scale communal research compound", where scientists and free thinkers from around the globe could research meteorology, psychology, parapsychology, zoology, electromagnetism, and a sixth discipline that the film begins to identify as "utopian social-" before being cut off.

ok so they go threw these greats length building all these bunkers that involve all different research things

    Quote:
research meteorology, psychology, parapsychology, zoology, electromagnetism, and a sixth discipline that the film begins to identify as "utopian social-"
ok,ok so some professor goes somewhere and says "look i would like some grant money" so i can build a bunker on an island that revolves around a social experiment that is basically screwing with someone and they don't know it and to top it off a complete waist of time.

    Quote:
    Station 5: The Pearl

The Pearl is where the Dharma Initiative studied psychology. It primarily serves as a monitoring station, to which surveillance feeds from the other stations are sent. Its orientation film asserts that the Swan is a psychological experiment, and that the purpose of those stationed in the Pearl is to monitor the participants in that station. The station consists of a three-by-three bank of television sets, two chairs with writing surfaces, and a computer hooked to a printer. A pneumatic tube is installed in the room, which the orientation film states is used to transport notebooks to another Dharma location. According to the orientation film that features Dr Mark Whickman, two-person teams, working eight-hour shifts over a three-week period, were to watch the video displays and take notes on their observations. Every action, regardless of how subtle, were to be recorded into notebooks by the Pearl's team members.

After Oceanic Flight 815 crashes on the Island, Nikki and Paulo are the first survivors to encounter the Pearl, while searching for diamonds. Several weeks later, Locke and Mr. Eko enter the Pearl and watch the orientation video. Locke believes this means pushing the button in the Swan is a psychological test, and resolves to discover what will happen if it is not pushed. However, Desmond postulates in "Live Together, Die Alone" that the Pearl participants were the true test subjects without knowing it. This is supported when the survivors discover that the pneumatic tube dumps the notebooks into an open field; the contents of the notebooks indicate that they had been dumped there long before the station closed. During season three, some of the survivors visit the Pearl in hope of finding a way to communicate with the Others, but discover that the station is only capable of receiving data, not sending it
so basically station 5 and some of the others are a big waist of time and so i am to believe that somebody in there right mind funded these people so they can go ship out building supplys hire contractors to build a bunker ship people out to a tropical island to have people write diary's so they can put them in a tube that leads to no where and this is gonna benefit mankind some how...leading to an Utopian society ?

what is this, i don't even.

the weird thing is "the others" where already on the island when the initiative arrived to build this mess and yet they didn't help the people they decided to study the people?

whats there to study just help the people out obviously they are stranded people from wrecks ...why else would they have regular clothes and aren't all "lord of the flys" crazy tribal going on .

"the others" spoke English too ...

so yeah they are building all this mess with grant money but don't help a brother out ....fail too notice the smoke monster that kills people or the glowing fountain that makes people immortal.

    yeah i don't get it.

    but thanks anyway

    edit:
it just seems to me they added that subplot to threw people off and get them interested in "what new mysterious station would be showcased next" instead of the actual plot of what was going on like in hindsight if you cut out all the dharma stuff from the show it doesn't fit and isn't needed .

    like it's just a ruse.
  19. i watched the pilot of the show and that's it and maybe a couple of other episodes ....after reading the ending i'm confused .

this is what i got from the wiki far as the last episode.

    Quote:
The opening shows alternating scenes between the sideways timeline in 2004 and the original 2007 timeline.

    2007
Richard and Miles rescue Lapidus from the wreckage of the submarine. Jack confronts the Man in Black and they travel to the heart of the island together with Desmond. Desmond is able to disable the light, making both Jack and the Man in Black mortal. Jack is able to kill the Man in Black but was mortally wounded in the process. Lapidus, Richard, Sawyer, Kate, Claire, and Miles escape the island on the plane. Hurley takes over for Jack as the protector of the island shortly before Jack goes on a suicide mission to save the island. Desmond is saved by Jack, but Jack cannot save himself. The last thing Jack sees before he dies is the plane leaving the island. Walt's dog Vincent stays by Jack's side as he watches his friends escape from the island. Hurley, in his role as the new protector of the island, decides to help Desmond get home and asks Linus for his help after Linus suggests that Hurley change how things are run so people can come and go from the island now instead of being stuck there.

    2004
Desmond continues to gather the Islanders who begin to recollect their time on the Island. Each begin to recognize one another and meet up later at a church. Kate instructs Jack to enter through the back, where he encounters his father's coffin. When he touches it all of his memories come back to him. He opens the coffin and discovers it empty. Christian Shephard is standing behind his son and explains to Jack where he is and what it means, saying, "the time you spent with these people was the most important period of your life." The 2004 timeline is revealed to have been an afterlife created by the survivors so they could find one another, independent of the time at which they died, and move on to "the next phase" together. Jack and Christian go out into the church to meet the others. After many handshakes, hugs and kisses, Christian leaves through the front doors of the church and all are bathed in a light.

mmm hmm yup hmm ok ah ha brilliant ! .......oh wait no i don't care about the above .

what i really would like to know did they ever explain the "Dharma initiative" stuff i remember reading a long time ago all the complex little plot elements involving that "research station " plotline involving "gasp" we found the chicken room!!!

and we need to press a button every 24hours or we blow up!!! ... ,oh my it's a shame ....then next week "oh my goodness" we found a "squirrel room" and we need to write notes about our feelings and thoughts and put them in this mail slot which leads to a big pile of trash outside.

so yeah did they ever explain that dharma initiative mess ,i'm looking but i don't see anything.

from what i'm reading in the wiki
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DHARMA_Initiative

it seems like one of those conveniently placed subplots in mystery's that in hindsight added nothing and was only implemented to throw the reader off and was not relevant to the story in the least .

i hope i'm reading that wrong and the "dharma initiative" was explained and was relevant to this purgatory well of furies business.

Did I just THINK it got better for me when in fact I'm much more miserable without realising it?

Next time you try to hide behind "opinion," make sure you don't state it as fact first, because after you have, you no longer have a leg to stand on.
when i say it was my "opinion" i meant the definition of "opinion" below

An opinion is a subjective statement or thought about an issue or topic, and is the result of emotion or interpretation of facts.

An opinion may be supported by an argument, although people may draw opposing opinions from the same set of facts.

Opinions rarely change without new arguments being presented.

However, it can be reasoned that one opinion is better supported by the facts than another by analyzing the supporting arguments.

An opinion may be the result of a person's perspective, understanding, particular feelings, beliefs, and desires. In casual use, the term opinion may refer to unsubstantiated information, in contrast to knowledge and fact-based beliefs.

when i said i respected your opinion it was exactly just that , i didn't say stuff like this

i never said i wanted certain things... i was giving reasons why i had lost interest in the game when the issues involving AE and the pvp where implemented remember back in this thread? ....and personally i don't care if you agree or not because it is my prerogative.

as it was your prerogative to like the issues ...did i give you a hard time about it?

    no.

but anyway, i will not be posting on the forums anymore .

because people assume things are quick too judge/dismiss and in general think closed minded.
they get in a routine and stick with one train of logic ...sometimes they may switch a track here and there but more than likely people are mostly the same "set in there ways".

some people may say "no i'm a noble tomato, i'm not like that!" but no people are in general island among themselves to a certain extent as the saying goes "birds of a feather flock together" that's why you get clicks like in high school people that have certain personalty traits usually stick together ...flock together.

it's nothing wrong with it ...that's just the way life is.

just look back and read the comments you can kinda see the different personalty types in the thread its kinda funny how people are and how much people supposedly change that regardless they stay reasonably the same.
