Quote:Yes, all Troller & Dom Immobs except Gravitys (where the Hold does it instead) stop knockback & knockdown for 10 seconds.Do troller Immo effect have a -Kb or something. Because sometimes it seems to stop it
Not sure about other Immobs, except for Dark Blasts Tenb Tentacles which doesn't have a -knockback component. -
Quote:The problem with this approach with Necro is that 1 or both of the damn Grave Knights tend to like to hang back and spam their Blasts instead of running in and unleashing the broadsword attacks (which do loads of damage and can Crit).I've found necro to be an easy primary to learn and operate. The lich functions kind of like a dark controller, while the other pets like to operate in melee range. The easiest secondaries to use well, with relatively minimal effort devoted to learning how, are probably /dark and /traps.
I don't bother with macros; they're helpful, but still a hassle. Instead, I edit two out of the three initial pet control command buttons that show up in your power tray. I edit the "Attack" and "Follow" commands, changing "aggressive" to "defensive" for both of them. That leaves me with a "passive" command button to get pets to follow me and not attack, a "bodyguard" mode through a "defensive follow" button, and an "attack" command that shifts the pets back to bodyguard mode after the critter they're attacking has been defeated.
By default, I tend to keep my zombies on defensive follow, my lich on defensive follow, and I switch my grave knights to aggressive using the main pet control window that shows up after summoning pets.
My way of controlling necro pets is not optimal, as macros will definitely allow you to get more damage and control out of them. But, making a few small adjustments to the default controls seems to be good enough for team and solo play, and those changes are quite easy to set up.
If you are going for just one bind/macro on a Necro MM I'd recommend a Goto Aggressive one for them, it's really handy to get the melee attacks going. Once they've launched one Broadsword attack they seem to be happy to use them for the entire fight.
So much for the Pet Recharge AI fix, eh?
Thugs is an excellent starting set. Pair with whatever you like really, Traps is good as is Dark in terms of keeping you busy and helping to control / debuff the enemies while your pets maul them. -
Amusingly the Down Message said it was "For the week in preparation for the switch to vBulletin"
May want to change that, Web Folks. -
Indeed, it was quite a clever and neat solution to the issue.
But as others have stated it's really up to the devs to decide if there is an issue in the first place. I think there is for some powers and not for others and the devs would probably be better off addressing the worst offenders individually (mostly PBAOEs and pets with AOE & Cone Knockback I reckon). -
If you assume the universe is cyclical then it makes perfect sense. We've the only MMO Community Team in the world who actively promote the life of their product beyond the Big Bounce and into the next iteration of the universe.

I mistook the A in eratic as an O and was wondering what sort of deviant people you were teaming with.
Quote:So steamrolling an EB isn't really a problem... not only that, but they look cool doing it, too!
Cue Benny Hill style antics with me running around being chased by them and my pets running after the EB.... -

As per usual I'm voting for Grav/TA. All ranged, all the time and Wormhole > Crushing Field > Oil Slick > [Magic or Tech] origin power > Disruption Arrow > Acid Arrow is stupidly fun. Stuff just stays in one spot falling over and burning rapidly to death.
2 ranged holds is excellent too. Solo I'll frequently Wormhole Spawn A into Spawn B, AOE Hold the lot and then set up the burny patch of death.
Grav/TA is a slow starter though and TA in general isn't the best in fast moving large teams when you don't have time to set up your combination of powers to create the hapless enemies trapped in the Patch of Death, but then again a lot of Controllers can have this issue and if the team is fast moving there's little need to spend time doing it. But when a second spawn or ambush comes along you can typically disable and kill them without much assistance from your team. -
Johnny Moronic probably falls into this category. As far as he's concerned he's The One fighting against an invisible System to pull it down. Everyone in the system is a potential enemy.
As far as everyone else is concerned he's a gullible idiot. I do like to fudge it slightly so that his contacts are aware of this and making up alternative reasons for him to do the most horrific missions "Go rescue some citizens in Paragon City who are going to be targetted by The System and deliver them to our operatives who are disguised as Vahzilok..." -
I think they're an exile, like me (although until tomorrow I'm actually a dual-nationality citizen. Long enough to market my US self some start-up funds now they're in their mid-20s).

Quote:Best bet is to start a thread for some other MMO and quickly post things whilest she's one-lining that thread to death.Quick suggestion: Stop trying to derail this thread with pointless one-liners. It's actually an important subject to an important chunk of the player base and no word from Paragon or NC.
That kinda tells us a lot but it gets obfuscated by your inanities.
To be honest I've no idea if I'll be getting GR until there's some sort of clarification about the server divide. At the moment I'm playing US side so I'm without any of the boosters or Vet Rewards I've earned / paid for, which is really annoying. I really don't think GR is going to do much to the EU in terms of long term population so I'm not prepared to risk 40 quid (no way I'm preordering, I'm nervous of a bait-and-switch given the lack of concrete GR info, although it would be out of character for Paragon Studios, but not for NCSoft) on buying a product which becomes obsolete after 12 months. -

Not sure what he's attempting to do here. Mad Science, eh?

Man I missed these reviews. Genius! I'd quote all the bits that made me laugh here in the office but that'd be the entire review really. -
All bots will be upgraded but only the one targeted will show the Upgrade Animation.

Quote:Oh I know how effective they are. I just don't like how bleeding massive and noisy they are. One of the most common reasons people give for not letting MMs on a team is that they can be a nightmare in tight maps and Bots are probably the worst offenders since they're both big and ranged (so they'll just stand in one spot firing). Can be a pain to get past.If you hadn't Gone to the Americas, I coulda showed you what a good Bot MM on Union is like
But its the same way people moan about Kheldians (I admit, I was indifferent to them until recently) until you realise just how destructive they can be. As is any AT played well, really.
Removing the collision detection between all pets and players would be a great move IMO. -
Quote:Bots are my chief MM hate in the game actually. They're just so big and cumbersome compared to other MM pets. Don't like the constant clattering of them either. That said I've never particularly cared if they're on a team with me provided their master is halfway decent at making sure they aren't stuck in doorways or anything and their knockback is handleable and they don't tend to spazz out and aggro an entire room like the meleers.I've only got one or two complaints about the KB from my bots in my time playing as Alpha. Usually from Brutes.
My response? Tough luck. You're rolling with the big guns, now, and I don't need no fury to make stuff die in droves
If any ever feels the need to kick me, fine by me. They'll be losing a lot more than 1/8th of their firepower, and general mob killing capability. That, and I can happily solo large mobs anyway, so...*shrug* While its fun to team, if people cant deal with my MM, its a character on whom, frankly m'dear, I couldn't give a damn
Really wish the devs would remove the collistion detection between MM pets and teammates though, getting stuck / barged by them does suck. -
Thinking about it I've found the effectiveness of my MMs greatly increases when I've set up my bottom row of the keyboard into specific binds controlling various tiers and subgroups of my pets.
I wonder if that's part of the problem with MMs. The basic controls you start with get very unwieldy once you've got into the late teens / early 20s and to give yourself fine control a collection of tailored binds / macros helps a hell of a lot. It's a lot easier to control rampaging zombies by hitting B to call them back into BG mode while you Control a spawn or get close to heal a teammate.
Found the same with another AT which seems to be marmite to other players, the Warshade. For me they improved immensely once you've refined your controls to reflect the added complexity they have by the early 20s (especially in the case of a Triform WS). -
Quote:Part of the problem is that (IMO) it's fairly easy to play a MM badly solo and still do most content fairly easily but more difficult to play one well on teams. Pets are designed to be resummoned a lot but I've seen plenty of MMs who seem to have a hatred of a single pet dying (my Necro/Dark MM actively welcomes it)....
In my eyes, when someone plays a MM and has no clue what they are doing, the effects are oft times more notable and more detrimental to the team. It takes a steady and attentive hand to keep a leash on a MM with a degree of efficacy. Most MMs I encounter are just the summon and turn 'em loose type. I can't stand those.
A Debuff MM is for me easier to play than a buffer, debuffing enemies benefits your teamies and pets alike. Buffing & Healing duties need to split between pets and teamies more and many poorly played MMs focus on their pets window too much and forget to monitor their team mates window (or conversely are so focused on either fighting themselves or their team-mates and don't control their pets well leading to extra aggro).
Redside is going to be interesting when i17 comes along and City of Demons happens. Personally I'm going to pick my Earth/Fire domi back up again and tag along. All that AOE control and single-target focused damage will be very useful on the sort of demon heavy teams there will be in i17 (if the Dual Pistols release is anything to go by, playing my Plant/Emp was a perfect foil to all the DP Blasters and Defenders). -
Seeds of Confusion : Dance puppets, dance.
Wormhole : Fly puppets, fly
Double-mired Quasar : Explode puppets, explode (followed by popping a blue, Stygian Circle and ripping one of their souls out to serve as a lovely pet). -
Double XP is about progressing without feeling you are farming or grinding IMO. It's playing the game and going "Ooh, I dinged again. Nice."

Quote:That second build is pretty good Tech. Basically how I went too.Om nom nom builds...
No one ever seems to post them in threads I start. Did I offend the Mids Gods or something? =S
Thanks Dechs, good reading.
I did however take the shields early on, for surviving getting into Mire range and respecced them out at 22 (but I always respec every character at 22).
But that's basically the jist of it. The 40s are "fun powers which won't eat too many slots" because slots are precious on a Kheld. Frankenslotting can go a long way to getting the most from them. -
Quote:What's the sneaky way? The Science shop in Bricks?Well for me I did something I did not normally do through double xp...
I actually used it to lvl up 2 chars past their lvl 20 (and stamina). Woa.
Previously I've only used it to work on badges
However not doing the normal play routine means that atleast one of them do not have their Oroboros portal (which we can get through doing a story arc in faultline) so that poor character will need to get it the sneaky way. (she is lvl 27). -
Thursday night 9pm, Union : 220 people on. Virtue : 75 people in Steel alone. So I did try Union but on Thursday night it honestly didn't seem busy. Rest of DXP was too busy doing Real Life stuff (like finding myself a shiny new cooker to go with my shiny new kitchen) to log in at all.

Not having Vet Rewards or Cossie packs sucks
Conversely Being a Plant/Emp controller on a constantly full PuG of DP Blasters plus various others makes me feel like I did 4 years ago starting the game (except I know what I'm doing). I'm actually playing an MMO again.
Once i17 rolls around I'll basically be able to remake my Kheld or try out a Crabby easily, and be fairly sure they won't just be soloing chunks of the game. -
I've just jumped from EU to US so this is a godsend for me. No need for grinding to 50 (I've been playing 4.5 years on and off and have a grand total of 2 50s, both EU Hero side).
Now I'll be able to try a Crabbie on a well populated server. Yay! -
PBAOE with knockback sucks, it'd be good to have all of that (bar the nukes, nukes are supposed to send bodies everywhere) switched to knockdown.
Directional, single-target melee and cone knockbacks are generally fine though since you can aim the blighters.
