Thinking About Rolling Another MM
The primaries really do play differently. I am a bit biased against ninjas - they are very kamikaze in my book. Thugs primary offense comes from the second tier, although the top level, bruise can lay out the damage, too. The arsonist plays differently between his first appearance and after the bruiser shows up on the chopper. Necros biggest damage dealers are also second tier. The lich is like a dark/dark corruptor boss. With the level 18 power you can have more than six pets out, too.
I haven't delved in the mercs much.

HelinCarnate:OMG it is so terrible. I have the option to take 3 more powers but no additional slots. Boo F'ing hoo.
After my bots/traps was 50, my ninja/storm was born. With Group TP, it's become my absolute favorite MM combo yet. I would put this as the most advanced combo avail (and I have pretty much all of em) and absolutely the most chaotic.... and ABSOLUTELY the greatest amount of fun.

I tend to find that my ninjas and my zombies die alot more than any other MM primary. So if you hate re-equipping, you might wanna roll something that does good with range. Or you can take a secondary like pain or storm which will drastically increase the survivability of zombies and ninjas.
With ninja's, you my (IMO) The best tier 2 pets, and some amazing single target damage. The AoE really isn't there, until Oni. Even he isn't a great AoE monster, but you can give him smoke flash + fire breath.
Zombies are a fun set to play as well, with good tier 2's.
Thugs kind of play similar to bots. They have good survivability (Except for the arsonist) and some really good AoE.
Mercs are alright. The damage is alot of little orange numbers, and you don't really have much of an offense until you get Commando.
I'd recommend trying out Ninjas.
The layout of powers is the same (apart from the odd flavour powers at level 18), but the role each type of henchman plays is dependent on set. Imagine your pets are a really bad pick up group, they probably display comparable intelligence after all
Robots gives you 3 lowbie Blasters, 2 FF Defenders and better Blaster maybe? Quite a nice team makeup for PUG-ing.
Ninjas gives you a team of 3 lowbie scrappers, 2 Stalkers and a Dominator, which is not anyones dream team. You can boost their damage with Smoke Flash too. They're going to require a lot of interaction from you to get them into melee at the right times, and to boost the right members.
Ideally, you'll want to balance with a secondary that can make them tougher, like Dark, Pain or FF. Ninja/Poison for example, is a real seat of the pants ride.
I never really liked Ninjas. Well they look awesome, but I think my brain doesn't mesh with their playstyle somehow.
Anyway, you could always visit the random AT page linked in my signature and roll random. It will generate 3 columns, with a Mastermind in each. Just pick one of the 3 generated and go for it.
I already added Demon Summoning tho, so if it rolls that, you'll have to wait.

Everyone complains about ninjas being too eratic...
You can never get them where you want them and if you do you have to macro everything right...
Get group TP and the macroing issue is gone... your pets are where you want them. Heck, steamy mist and a stealth IO and your golden by jumping into crowds and not agroing any... just your pets...
Ninja/storm isnt hard by any strech of the imagination, people just need to expand their playstyles and learn new techniques. Not all the primaries have to play the same.

I'm having a blast with my Necro/Dark! Good survivability with all of the debuff flying around and plus the pets get their own heal with Dark Empowerment. So steamrolling an EB isn't really a problem... not only that, but they look cool doing it, too!

Cue Benny Hill style antics with me running around being chased by them and my pets running after the EB....
Thugs/Dark. Posse FTW!!!!
After about 7 plus months since my level 50 MM Bots/Traps was born, I was thinking about rolling another MM. Being that my Bots/Traps was my first MM, I am happy with the damage output my bots can bring to the table. I only really went the Bots route as others suggested that is the best MM to start out with to learn the ropes of playing a MM.
My play style is one of action, meaning I always participate with my pets versus just sitting and watching them beat people up. For the past couple of weeks now I've been running -0/+8 mish'es solo with really no problem waltzing through these guys.
The thing I need to know and find out is, are all the other MM Primary Sets Mercenaries, Necromancy, Ninjas and Thugs set-up pretty much in the same type of format?: For example, my Bots are broken down with 3 Battle Drones (the little guns damage), 1 Assault Bot (the big guns damage) and 2 Protector Bots (healers & some damage). Total Pets = 6 not counting things like Battle Drones or other portable devices. I would say the only real pain I go through is always having to "Equip" my Bots and "Upgrade" them and during battle, can be a bear on the end drain.
So, with that being said, can you guys recommend another good MM that will allow me to spawn my pets, but not have to constantly "Equip" them with upgrades or are all of them set-up with this feature so there really is no choice on what group I pick? I would love to have pets that can do as much damage output as my Bots but not sure the other groups can compare? Any good suggestions of what New Primary Set I should take and with what Secondary Set would be wonderful. I know everyone will have their favorite builds but I think there has to be a consensus among the pack to what works best.
