  1. Well, I have to say that after all that good reading, I have been swayed to make my first /poison character. I would never touch it as a MM, but I have had enough of Kin, traps, storm and don't want to detract from my "First" /Time char...

But the joy of all the water effects... The myriads of tints...

I have my theme, now off to find a name! Thanks.
  2. Ehh, if your curious, USBOverdrive didn't work. Thanks thou. I appreciate replies, I'm going to email Belkin and ask nicely.
  3. Hello Mac users,

I have a Nostromo n52 speed pad that I use with my gaming. I have had it successfully work in the past, and currently I am trying to get back into the game, but it does not seem to be responding to my "programming" of buttons.

I am on "Lion" and running current drivers from Belkin, yet regardless of how I program it, for all applications or for just CoH or the Launcher, it is not properly mapping the keys.

If anyone has any information to help, I would be thankful.

  4. I personally would welcome Clown Summoning, all joking aside.

The lvl 18 power would summon a Volkswagen Beetle and 18 clowns would pile out and beat the crap out of everything before disappearing in a cloud of confetti!
  5. I'm waiting on the mechs armor myself, but it does make me wonder how many Jedi will be born into COH with the addition of a light saber skin.

Finally! An effect that should have been there from the beginning.

*I smack the guy in the middle of a group of 12 with a fork lift and with my ninja skillz can only hit my target*

This in no means makes me take Propel, but it makes more sense finally... I do and will keep lift.
  7. I was all set today to log in and A offer $100 to anyone who'd make a Mac Mid's.. Or even start a collection to have a contest to get one built...

Because I am the type that has a build before I roll the char, so thank you, you've returned by ability to play and enjoy myself again...

And your amazing timing has saved me $100 too!!!

I was just about to post about this topic and ask if anyone was capable of.... and here you are.

That is a classic right there. Brilliant.

I can appreciate that line of thinking, however, don't you think it's wiser to eliminate targets completely to take one source of incoming damage out of the picture as the encounter allows instead of allowing it to persist until you're ready to PBAE? I submit, it is rather more spectacular to watch entire spawns fall at the same time, but flash and best function usually are two different things... unless you're an illusion controller.

    I finally got it

Sure there would; MMs are VIP access. And besides, sometimes I just want to be a Corr/cont/scrap/stalk/veat.
  12. I had provoke on my bots/traps at first, slotted 2 acc\ 2 rech \ 1 taunt.

Even with hasten and the appropriate IOs, I would still lose an AVs focus...

So, I went to taunt from the presence pool instead; the faster recharge time made it possible to spam as part of my attack chain, taunt/web/trops/taunt/web... popped in the psi damage IO for some added damage...

I never had issue keeping an AVs attention again.

I know I can't taunt a crowd, but honestly, the pets melt regular mobs, why was I concerned about them.

It's not my fault! My HP died after 2 years (POS)... So to save money I just use the wife's Mac... Since I purchased the Mac version and all ... For the in-game perks. And after buying a new house..., and I mean just now; close tomorrow morning, my budget is curtailed for a while buying the things necessary around the home; new flat screen 55"-60" and the surround sound to go with it... And then the pool.

Until all that... I suffer on a Mac.

    I feel your wife's pain.
  14. I wish I could make Mids work on a Mac so I could start exploring the possibilities...

I wish I could program on a Mac so I could make a version of Mids.

    Agh the torture.

I'll have to load everything on a USB and waste a day standing around BestBuy "testing" a laptop.

The things I do for all my Alts.
  15. Well, if i were min/maxing... I wouldn't even start with ninja or storm... the standard being bots...thugs /traps..

But for a completely different play experience... ninja/storm made the cut and with dual pet IOs of goodness, it becomes a very survivable combo. It's not going to take down any big named AVs, but it's a heck of a lot of fun to play. So, for an experienced MM player, I always voice the positive to said combo; why should I be the one having all the fun... if you like chaos that is (and I do, I have a tattoo that says so).
  16. I disagree.

Storm is almost made for ninjas with all the soft control/ you want a set that keeps mobs trying to avoid standing still so they can't attack therefor keeping your pets alive.

My ninja/storm is one of my favorite sets to play (with Team TP). Its a mobile group of havoc where mobs run in all directions chased down by fast pets who make quick work out of them to the point that most the time (after dropping the AoE debuffs) all I do is target the next group to Team TP them into. It's chaos at it's best.

You can search my name to find the build I use (prior to fitness being inherent).

    New to MM's

My suggested MM for first timers is Thugs/pain. Incredibly easy set to play and survivable; the easiest way to enjoy the AT and learn it at the same time.
  18. Heh, at the speed they move, and the reported AI issues that people had with them and management (at the time I made mine) I thought I would go with team TP to manage them, and it worked out swimmingly.

After a bots/traps, Thugs/pain, Necro/dark... I just wanted something else with a different feel... and I was surprisingly happy with the results; its pure chaos and chaos is love.

    Necro/???

I once saw some level 25 SOed thug/pain with provoke take on some mob of 29 or 30s for the fun of it.

They're very survivable, it's like a moving base.
Just because it's cliche doesn't mean it's not a fun and effective combo to play...
  20. Ninja/Storm... toss in Team TP and you have an an stoppable party of death with little to no micro-managing to get the most out of BG mode as well as powers that keep groups of mobs slowed, running, and agro'd on you... thus, squishy ninjas live.

It's a lovely synchronized chaos that makes me giggle like a school girl when groups fall in seconds and I all I do is focus on targeting the next group for the team TP.

    Necro/???

    I have to second Necro/Dark...

I love mine, the set, especially with the change in twilight grasp, makes it even better. The bag of tricks is wonderful to have and the tier 9... well, that is just one more pet to add to the fun, it makes a most impressive play experience.

One of my favorite MMs to play.
  22. The only MM I have taken the attacks on was Demon and that was specifically because they are -resist which in turn allows my pets/party to do more damage. I currently have all of said attacks, ranged, melee, cone and find them useful in their own right... ranged for pulling, melee was just to try, and cone, well, multiple target hits are always fun.

In the end thou, I will eliminate the 2nd attack and quite possibly the first, only keeping the cone. And that will be the only MM I possess with any attacks out of the main pool. As others have said, the end use vs damage is really rather pointless when generally there is something more you could be doing that will benefit your efforts more.

Of course, these are my choices and fit my play style.

Bots/Traps... I toe bomb in melee
    Ninja/Storm... procs in gale
    Undead/DM... procs in fearsome stare
Thugs/Pain... does anyone need to do anything for them

In the end, the builds I make don't have enough spaces in power selections to usually include any personal attacks, other than vet rewards, and even those after the first 10-20 levels become used as much as any of the pool powers.
  23. I just don't seem to have the bad luck others do using Ninjas.

Maybe it's tactics, maybe it was a better pairing of a secondary for mitigation (storm), maybe it's using Team TP to place them in the middle of spawns and letting BG take care of the rest while I am the agro magnet.

But I honestly cannot say my ninjas die anymore than my bots, undead, thugs, or demons.

Maybe it was the view that they were reported to be paper cannons so I planned properly to mitigate the issues others were having when I planned my build; a build without taunt just a reliance on storm for my agro.

I can appreciate what is being said here, but is not a trade-off of damage survivability? Blasters for example?

Playstyle may count for something, but you cannot expect every set to play the same; what would be the point of alts other than cosmetic?
  24. I actually went with 4 IOs for KB protection.... thats 16 points of it. And in certain situations (multiple fissures) I watch the majority of my teams bouncing around and I often find myself wondering why my troller isnt.

It may be overkill, but in some situations, I've enjoyed it immensely.
  25. I always recommend Thugs/Pain as any beginners MM. It is absolutely the easiest combo to play and lets people get the feel of an MM before jumping into the tougher combos.

My first MM was bots/traps... loved it. But in retrospect, my Thugs/Pain makes the other look like it runs rampant to get the most out of the pets.

My favorite MM is a Ninja/Storm with team TP. It's chaos at it's finest.

Now reason I think Thugs did better... It comes with it's own tank... err brute.
