Whew. Don't want ya mad at me FatherXmas.

I've seen sig images at 965.55kB and 699.34kB.

Until I can track down the Winter Lord, I now have a cookie-eating bunny as my avatar.

On images in sigs: I'm not necessarily opposed to them but they need to be restricted in size, I think, both in terms of filesize and actual dimensions. If a lot of people use honking big pics in their sigs, I'll just turn off sigs altogether. Too much visual noise for my taste.

Avatars should also be restricted in filesize. There's no need for nearly a full MB avatar. Granted, the CoH forum isn't hosting any of this stuff but it would make for an overall faster and leaner forum.

Also, is it possible to get real spaces in names now? I would very much prefer Creole Ned to Creole_Ned. Also, I think I actually prefer most of the old UBB emoticons, odd as that might seem!

Then I guess this warning (Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 600 by 120 pixels or 146.5 KB (whichever is smaller) ) only applies to uploaded sig images and not ones embedded in a text sig with [img] tags then.

It's nice to see the forums back, though I tend to prefer function over form in such matters.

Time to go play with the preferences.

This needs to be sorted, allowing uploaded images and not allowing manual img tags in signature blocks.

Well, if the image is smaller than 600x 120 pixels but the file size is larger, would it disallow the sig? Since it has the

text there, maybe that is what is allowing the larger file size on sig images?

Just speculation. I turned off the IMG tags for now since I want to see text sigs but not IMG sigs, so I can't check them.

I can't seem to find a way to get ANY image sigs to work, without the IMG tags...

Still, I'd rather keep my sig small anyway, because I don't like to look like a gigantic attention wh[cencored]...

All that is built crumbles. This will always be true.

Have to agree there a couple of lines is ok but mega-sig's really ought to be avoided!

Is there a way to get it to load faster, this is horrible. 2Mb connection, dual core 3Ghz and 4Gb ram and this forum thinks I'm using a C64.

I know Vb is bad for slow loading but please sort something out.

That rating thing is a griefers paradise. I'm not four years old, I have zero interest in validation from unknowns on the internet.

And why don't all my saved bookmarks work? That's really annoying people. You might as well have purged the entire forum.

There also seems precious little City of Villains too - I use the red skin but I get hero icons? Come on couldn't someone have designed something different for redside?

And when I log in, why must I log into boards.cityofheroes.com? Attempting to log into boards.cityofvillains.com puts you into a non-log-in loop. If you can't log in using that url then why is it live and why does it have a log in button.

So far I'm unimpressed.

Is there a way to change the color of the background? This green hurts my eyes. I liked the old blue way better.

There's a very big lack of green on the new ones
They're blue-ish, with a bit of gray - but no green - except Positron's visor in the banner, top left, and Siter Psyche's outfit

Agreed, the real problem is most people just don't know the modify and shrink their stuff down.

My sig was originally a PNG, ran around about 146KB, not horribly large, and on our SG forums it was fine. But I just popped it into Photoshop and converted it to a Gif 128, lost a tiny bit of quality, had to give it a matte close to the forum background, but the result is a image thats 44kb rather then 146kb.

In photoshop, save for web & devices is your friend.

I'm sorry to hear you are having slow loads on the forums. I currently have 5 different instances of IE 8 open to the forums in different sections, continually refreshing them, opening posts, replying, etc. and I'm getting much faster responses than I did with the UBB forums.

You can turn your ratings off in the UserCP. I've seen at least one poster already that has it turned off. And she's someone I'd have expected to see with a high rating due to how helpful she's been over the years in making avatars, animated valentines, specialized icons for for various uses, being a big part of a large group across several servers (that I won't name to keep her anonymity) among other things.

The saved bookmarks don't work because part of the address of the post on the old UBB forums was ... wait for it .... UBB specific code. These vBulletin forums don't use that UBB code, just as the UBB forums didn't use the vBulletin code. Those were links to websites that no longer exist with that address. The posts may still exist, and if they do you can find them and edit your bookmarks to show the new addresses. I could be really sarcastic and make a comment about how I've never seen a webpage change it's address (often with a comment about updating your favorites or bookmarks), but I'd rather not get modded this soon on the new boards. And sarcasm wasn't the reason for my reply. Otherwise, yeah, I'd go there.

They are still making updates to the system, they got the forums up and going as quickly as they could, now they can start tweaking things and making refinements such as adding Villainous icons, getting all of the additional addresses such as boards.cityofvillains.com and others to work correctly, etc. Give them a bit of time. They pushed themselves pretty hard getting these up as quickly as they could in time for Double XP weekend.

Have a little patience, explore some of the underpinnings of vBulletin, let them get some good mods for vBulletin installed or some new templates, styles, skins, etc. You might just find that there are things you really do like about them.

Nice looking forums. I would suggest updating Twitter info? Still some folks might not be at the boards yet, because they were expecting a "chirp" on their cellphones or emails. Not that I am one of them or anything

I see several tweets today from Positron, BABs, Niviene, TheDarkWatcher and others, it looks like they just forgot to tweet from the CoH_OCR account.

I blame Moderator 08

EDIT: Oddly, I didn't get that tweet either, but when I look at the CoH_OCR page, I see a message from 7 hours ago Welcoming us to the new forums. The tweet before that we TheOcho making the comment that the new forums are so pretty and then taunting us about us wishing we could see them. Odd. Wonder why those tweets didn't come through like the rest? Ah, found it further in my history. Right after that Niv tweeted that they were down again. CoH_OCR didn't update after that. I still blame Moderator 08.

SECOND EDIT: Welcome to the forums Scorned Demonion.

The did Twitter about it - twice, as the first time was a false start

And welcome to the forums too

I'm glad the boards are for most faster, if the new software was slow when it has a fresh database they'd be problems in the future.

I didnt like seeing the rep buttin, that seems to cause more angst than value in my experience.

Still want to change password from game account but links seems to want to change both.

Also glad I've lurked the EU boards, or it would be wierd seeing strangers with huge post counts

* hello Everyone *

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.

So sad to be ending ):

Yay for new forums - still getting the hang of it, and wishing I could set a default to just take me to the English forums, but oh well.

You can - once you're on the English section, just save that to your favorites list, or make it a desktop shortcut.

Ditto on the default to the English forums. Kinda annoying to have to select English everytime. Also, wondering what the logic is in combining the EU and NA forums when we can't play together? I mean, it's kinda lame that I can meet new kewl CoH&V players on the forums but can't actually interact ingame with them.

You can. Trying to remember how it was stated. It's either here or in the Feedback thread.

Basically, go to front page of forums and log in. Click on English to open those forums (I think that was the step mentioned), set your bookmark/favorite/homepage to that page.

I've finally found a way to get my homepage set the way I want with just my Favorite Threads by having my Homepage by my UserCP page and the Subscribed Forums feature.

I wish now I could remember who it was that got me started on that road so I could thank them properly with Rep. I'll find the post eventually though in the next day or so and get the Rep assigned, unless they disabled it.
