Farewell UBB.

Hello bland huge ugly vBulletin.

Also, europeans.

You can turn off those HUGE graphics in the UserCP under Edit Options. I only unchecked the last box of the three (Show Images) as it lets me see avatars and I can still see the text and links in peoples signatures. The downside is that if someone posts an image IN a post, as Positron did showing off the Power Customization a while back, it won't show the picture. It does however provide a clickable link that I can click to open the image in a new window IF I choose to.

It took me a while to get used to vBulletin when I first encountered it, but I've found it to be extremely easy to use, and for the Administrators to change by using various mods that are available.

It will take some time for them to get everything set just right on their end, which gives the users time to start figuring out how to do some of the things in vBulletin.

Since most of the Community team and many of the Dev team are watching the Discussion, Feedback, and Bug threads that they created for these new forums I don't expect your "The majority of customers like it." scenario to fly. Or to be accepted blindly if someone does try to fly that flag.

Much like any change, if you aren't willing to put in the effort to learn the system and configure to your needs as much as you are able, the only thing that didn't change is you.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Just to add my 2 cents... I'm checking from my iPhone and so far I'm impressed. I do wonder what I'm missing compared to viewing from an actual PC but it looks nice so far. I understand the desires of some of the other users for more features but simple stuff works great for a guy like me. I also understand that some people might want the old style back because it's what they were used to and comfortable with. They're not wrong (it's their opinion) but sometimes you've gotta roll with the changes!

One huge complaint with the migration. Nowhere was it said (that I can find) that the list of saved threads that we were following would be lost with the migration. If this was mentioned originally I could have copied which ones I needed to resubscribe to. I only found the reminders to clean out PM's before the migration.

Same with avatars - no mention of those getting wiped out and having to upload to personal space in order to get them to show now.

I also do not like the fact that I have to use my game password to log into the forums now. There's a reason why I use /separate/ passwords for games and forums. And now I can't. This is very frustrating. And trying to change it only dumps me to changing my game password

So far I have to say I'm highly underwhelmed with the new boards. Maybe my opinion will change once the bugs are worked out of it. *shrugs*

i'm quite happy with the new boards
i've worked with vBulletin before, and it's SO much better than that UBB

avatars, signatures ... it's all quite easy to set up (again)
hardly something to complain about imho

Shamelessly copied and pasted from the European lounge, (because I'm lazy like that).

Reporting for Duty Sweetheart™

Hello everyone!, So!, these are the new forums huh? - Hmmm!
(runs finger along top of forums sections to check for dust)

Not a big fan of white text on colour personally, It can get a bit hard on the eyes after a while, also the forum sections seem a bit confusing compared to the clearcut old EU boards... Still, willing to give it a go, benefit of the doubt and all that.

Hello America! - Nice to meet you all.

Sorry folks,

I utterly dislike the aesthetic layout of new boards. They look quite generic and just like any other "game" forum. Also, the white font on grey background (atleast for me) is harder to skim and read. Last point, navigating these boards seems tedious because category tabs aren't quite noticeable. This was not an issue with old boards.

I miss the original blue background and eye-friendly, easy to spot categories. Reading posts were quick and easy.

That's my two cents.

Thought of a decent option for some folks out there with the annoying global pics vs. signature pics thing. If you are a Firefox user go for an addon called Adblock Plus and you can right click and remove specific pictures. No more glowing Halo dudes or demons and such if you don't like them. You may find this handy for animated avatars and silly
World class suggestion!! Many thanks for this pointer.

Bumping once again to ask for the official word on whether the inability to have seperate forums and game logins is intentional, and if so, why that is. This is a very bad idea.

Whilst I couldn't care less if my password is different here than the game or not (You may find that it's not an uncommon practice) but (oh thank you for wysiwyg text boxes, italics, bold and underline and variations thereof is a lot easier on these forums) changing it should be looked into for added security and players piece of mind.

I'm sure the forum policies against bumping and demanding answers is still in effect for these forums as well as the old.

Speaking about those, it'd be nice to seem them posted somewhere again (revised where appropriate).

Or are they posted somewhere already? I haven't noticed them.

I guess they might currently be a work in progress.

Seriously?

On a weekend?

On a Double-XP weekend at that where they are having to watch for server issues?

On a weekend AFTER they've been at ComiCon in San Diego the previous week/weekend?

On a weekend AFTER they've been busting their humps trying to get these forums at least UP and running?

All of this combined and you want an answer now?

Rather than spam it here, why not send them PM's instead.

Those also work as reasons for why maybe choosing some other time to migrate the forums could have been a good idea.

(of course there are always new things happening, and if they hadn't done it now it might have impacted something else. It might for instance be nice to have the forums sorted out before doing something like putting something major on Test. For instance...)

I definitely agree with you here. On ALL of those points.

Yeah, you guys are right, this isn't the time to ask, and it's still not kosher to make demands. My bad.

I miss Posi bouncing up and down on the top like he needs to use the restroom lol.

Also I may need to switch my game password for security reasons and only lurk here and not post till this issue is resolved.

That's the thing. One of the main reasons this is happening now as opposed to last summer is "things kept happening." Eventually they just had to bite the bullet and get it done.

You can change your editor to Advanced under your settings.

Not a fan of the new boards at all.

Old ones were very easy to use and you could see all you needed on one page. Everything's all chopped up now and you have to search multiple pages to find what you want when it only took you 1 click before.

Unimpressed.

Is there a classic view we could get please???

There's only the hero (default) or villain color schemes.
You can get it so only the English section shows, and you can also collapse the sections you don't use often or at all - I've collapsed the AT sections, which makes the forum much more compact.

After spending a good hour on the forums here having a browse to make myself familiar with the new layout I can say I am very impressed it.

I know not everyone likes change and having to get used to new things (Post i13 PvP for one lol) but I think there is a lot of potential with the new structure.

Good job Devs
