Laugh, cry, sigh - PvP Anecdotes

well just had a great evening in sirens ended on a sigh note hehe, there were just me (lady essence grav/kin) and 2 villains in there a necro/dark MM and a dark/dark corr we had a few scraps won some and lost some.

i then saw the MMs pets fighting a longbow warden so i give him some SB and use transfusion just to see how long it takes for him to kill the pets, not doing anythign else to help him, the MM could run at anytime i wasn't stopping him.

anyway i get jumped by the corruptor during this time, eventually held her which took a while (thanks to darkest night) and start propelling with containment.

while this is going on the warden has apparently annihilated the MMs pets and he has run over to where we were fighitng leading the warden the MM then dies and the Corrutor (who is held) gets aggro and dies bloody.

I start getting called all sorts i'm in two minds about this certainly not funny but the MM could have run (i was NOT doing anything to prevent him no holds or slows etc) or tried to stop me at anytime i am not responsible for his debt or am i? as for the corruptor who i was fighitng the warden was led to him by the MM but he was held by me which is something i really do feel bad about because she at least wasn't being "i am teh oober pwnzers" all night. Still it was a crappy ending to a fun evening.

My own sick satisfaction
I don't know why, I really don't, but for some reason I get a some real sick sense of glee from dropping fliers with snow storm. Nothing in PvP gives me as much pleasure as seeing the flying blaster or PA dropper hovering over the baying mob of meat head builds(tanks, scrappers, brutes, stalkers) picking his shots and safe in the sky from his inherent squishiness. Then you drop the sucker in the middle of that mob and watch then all turn from the high HP target they were fighting to the suddenly vulnerable easy meat that has dropped in on them like mana from heaven

So, what are the other amusing comments or just plain 'shake your head in disbelief comments'

[/ QUOTE ]

mine is i have to say watch a villain battle a hero if the villain wins and he goes to rest when he starts resting attack him then i get abused for using good tactics!

Sneaky, but a completely viable tactic. Whats he doing resting out of his base? lol

Got a new one, now what to call it.

Ganking Base Defenses

Had a raid and with everyone spawning in the same spot its quite easy to destroy most attackers. However, as this was a fun raid I didnt mind and allowed them to set up. However, they spawned on our base defenses and the amount of grief we managed to get from some of them was pathetic (but also funny). I happily watched as the base defenses did there job (and 1 crazy mm who wouldnt just stand back gave it everything he had) and destroyed them all. I laughed even more when im standing amongst a stealth suppressor watching the on going carnage/show and some stalkers tried to be sneaky and AS me only to be taken down by the defenses like the rest of his colleagues ... PRICELESS!

Warburg on Union last night was a good laugh, with the Forumites chasing shadows for a few hours with a handful of stalkers.

Had to laugh at the fire blaster jumping off very high buildings to get full defiance then blasting people to bits before getting wiped out.

Also had to laugh at how easily a fire tank goes down compared to an Ice tank Poor Infy.

Now here comes the generic PvP whine.

The few blasters that were around didn't stay long because they were wiped out pretty regularly and easily. And the ones that got a few kills were all /en. There were no other squishies to talk off, a couple of defenders turned up for a few minutes before realising they were prime target and after half a dozen deaths, decided not to play anymore.

By the end of the night the only ATs in the zone were Tanks, Scrappers, Stalkers and Brutes.

Balanced PvP? ha!

My tank only died once the whole evening, and that was because I stood still replying to a tell and got double AS'd whilst hoarfrost wasn't up. Totally my own fault for not paying attention. But in general, all the non squishies just stood around reading the newspaper whilst the stalkers scared off every squishie that decided to try and join in.

I didn't mind too much because I was a tank and a seasoned PvPer, but it's easy to see why a lot of people who don't PvP aren't tempted to try it and see, especially if they are a squishie.

Was a fun night because it was something different from PvE grinding (we were originally in Warburg doing PvE missions and decided to hang around after) but really does show up the imbalances in the system.

Yes. I was grinding warburg missions last night and had a short poke around the zone with my dom. I found a large collection of scrappers, brutes, tanks, probably stalkers, and maybe 2 blasters and a defender. Mostly ignoring each other, a few duels and quick gankage of any squishy that came near. I thought it reaked of school yard bully tactics with one player encouraging players to "gank the ones without armor". I made a point that they were simply chasing players away, then went back to grinding missions.
PS. not accusing you wam as a lot of people were just messing with the emotes, plus I didnt stick around long anyway. Had I known enough people to help I would have made a quick SOS and given them a taste of there own medicine.

Thought I saw the little irish fella once or twice

Apart from one stalker the evening was quite good natured though, a little bit of broadcast banter but a lot of smilies and "darn you!".

best quote was a fire brute trying his hardest to hurt me and after a few minutes of hitting thin air sent me a tell "ok, I give up!"

My favourite recently was a scrapper (MA/regen I think) who after a long and protracted fight with me across Sirens ended up standing on the roof on the hero base next to a police drone with a sliver of health left with me hovering in the street just below line of sight of the drone. Imagine my surprise when after a pretty good fight, with no ranting at all (no, I didn't open with AS, not that I have a problem with that) I get...

GenericScrapper: ROFL... come get me stalker noob... not so #@$ing tough now are you noob!!!.

Me:: 'Noob'?

GenericScrapper: Yes you... #@$ing cheap stalker noob, come get me, I'll fight you right here.

Me: I see. OK, but you may want to duck

2 seconds and 1 built up critical Focus later he is face down in the tarmac.

GenericScrapper: You £*$£ing hacker I'm reporting you, hacking your &#@$ing character to give it ranged attacks! No wonder you killed me you ^&%%ing cheater hacker.

If only real life would let me play CoV late into the night so I could play with the grown ups.

If only he'd tried to escape back into the zone rather than sitting on a drone he'd still be alive today *sniff* Tragic really

Hmmm, trying to think which scrapper primary could be mistaken for EM? Given the banter, I'm assuming it was one with no ranged attack .

I can imagine the hilarity when the GM reads the petition, if they have a hall of fame that will be going on it.

MA/regen. Don't know why I typed EM... still half alseep. I'll ask him the next time I'm in SC as he'll no doubt be "hunting" me, you know what the're like.

Now if I can just work out how to give my Stalker some robots, hmm and maybe forcefields too...

EM works the same way as most Melee attacks.. a simple cycle power, run in, jump over.. BOOM. Power still fires off and you're nowhere near the target.. useful in alot of situations.

I myself, expect the GM to have a giggle over it.

I think he was referring to Focus from claws primary which is a ranged attack Just shows how much some people know..

Regarding the case you mentioned, I once dueled Gatling's teambuild in test server Arena, and after the match he said : "I didnt know that Energy has a ranged stun." To which I replied: "It doesnt"

Posted

I can assure you that was simply because I hadn't even seen you get into melee range with me, and was with regards to Energy primary. I'm quite aware of how kiting and energy secondary work

Kin and Archy are correct - it is possible to grief other players in PvP, and victims of such behaviour should /petition with full details.

[/ QUOTE ]

Does Griefing cover the fact that yesterday I was in RV, badge hunting with my blaster (who I'm not comfortable fighting other players with!). Players noticed me stealthed sj-ing past them, as far as possible away from them, avoiding them & not joining in any fights. Then they started broadcasting insults & heckling?

Infact, Please can you post definitions of griefing in pvp, as they are unclear, they are not easy to define anyhow, when what's acceptable to 1 player may not be to another! I suspect these definitions have already been posted, so I'll check around for them.

Thanks
