There already is atleast 1 other pvp sg on the server... we're just not very active again at the mo. Busy with other things etc. I'll see if we can get 5 for this but might depend on day of the week for matches and stuff.

I also believed this to be true until recently someone demonstrated the effect of powerboost on regen aura to me. Regen is a primary affect so it shouldnt be affected as you correctly state, but yea, one of those wacky things I guess.

The majority of thermal buffs and debuffs are resistance based so wont get a lot out of powerboost there.. The -def from melt armor, -end and -regen from heat exhaustion, toHit from Forge and the heals are all it will do for that set I think. Which will still be nice I guess.

Ill prob just be doing a psi/em blaster if it's as attractive when it goes live as it looks right now. Resisted doing the fire/ or ice/ for so long, but I think it's my turn to have something fotm for once

I will see if I can assemble something. We're still short a couple of essential toons and i dont think anyone has many IOs... Still kick your [censored] though, naturally.

I don't think anyone has claimed to be so great at pvp.. but then I'm one of those pesky skim readers so may have missed something

There seems to be 2 main problems people are seeing with this:

1) You seem to think that no tier 9s and no insps will make things easier for newbs. I personally don't think it will.. I think it will on the whole make things more difficult, and others seem to agree, though please correct me if I'm wrong.

2) Your interpretation of what "old skool" pvp is.. No insps and no tier 9s is no more old school than it is new school. The only thing old school about this idea is SOs, but, as cherry pointed out, for that to work I want to 6 slot damage again and be able to 2 shot defenders from range!

The whole thing reminds me of how pvp in warburg still goes sometimes, where you need to be a non-squishy to survive longer than 15 seconds because you will be jumped by 5 over-zealous scrappers on first site. I kinda disagree with most peoples idea that FFA no inps will be domintaed by trollers.. stacking 4 holds on a tank (which I presume a vast majority would take to this kind of event) without getting ganked is quite the challenge unless you are secretly working with another toward a common goal.

Don't get me wrong, all of that's meant to be constructive. It's also meant to make sense but neither may be true.

Edit: I think you may have done better just advertising this as a random pvp night and attaching no particular goal or theme to it bar the rules first mentioned. People wouldn't have been able to nit-pick that way besides saying they're not interested in that particular form of pvp.

aye me too.. would actaully give me a good reason to keep grinding away at this game, as at the moment the only incentive I have is kicking Vindicate's [censored]

Imo, insps balance the game and make it more about skill, as I think the others have tried to point out.

Been to nights like this before and everyone just takes a toon with mez resist. Tank, brute and scrapper fests are not my idea of fun, but each to their own.

I applaud your attempt to increase pvp activity though.

I also arrived at around 8:30 to find no-one there. I don't know whether the event run by a certain radio station is hindering this one or not, but I do find it rather disappointing that they chose the same night and haven't even mentioned it in the PvP forum..

But then I guess if anyone who is any good at PvP actually turned up to their event they'd probably all stop going
