Show of Hands: Who didn't use current freespecs?

I hate respec'ing characters and will only do it under EXTREME duress.

My fire/rad controller has several Purple sets collecting dust in base storage because I'm too lazy to respec him and don't want to over-write the prime sets he has slotted now.

All my characters are drowning in respec's anyway, with all the vet specs I've accumulated. And I usually have a couple of respec recipes lying around on this or that alt- they're a very profitable flipping opportunity.

Exactly. Being a 60 month vet I should respec my dark/stone brute to change his travel powers. Teleport being so much more useful in granite than Super Jump. And I could dump combat jumping for haste. And yet it is such a pain to respec that I won't bother and will simply keep CJ and SJ. They don't bother me to have them and while the other would be handy it isn't required. ::shrug:: The problem is having to go back in and reselect all of my powers and slots again to get my IO's reslotted where they go. What a pain. Meh.

And yes I know I could use Mid's to plan it out. But it is still more bother than it is worth.

So THAT'S where they are dropping, instead of on me!

"How do you know you are on the side of good?" a Paragon citizen asked him. "How can we even know what is 'good'?"

"The Most High has spoken, even with His own blood," Melancton replied. "Surely we know."

What you said, and for me a respec is usually the kiss of death for a character that's about to be stripped of goodies and have the leftovers sold to twink out my next experiment.

Recycling is good, right?

Let me think...

36 toons... all with freespecs, vetspecs and regular specs... and i didnt ran a single one!

Probably because I am happy with my toons... And I refuse to run respecs to make Inf...

See, that's one time I will... my high characters create enhancements for my lowbies, my lowbies respec to swap out the ones most in demand for lvl 25-30s they can use. Not to sell, just to recycle

Didn't use any freespecs. New issues have been coming at us faster than I have need to respec any of my characters. I think that's a good thing, actually.

<QR>

A few I used, as I felt I needed to change up some powers and slotting.

I don't use respecs as a money saving tool like so many other people do however. When it comes time for me to replace some enhancements I just put the new ones right on top of the old. I'm not going to go through the hassle of using 5 respecs to pull out all of my level 40 IOs so that I can replace them with 50s. I'll just overwrite the 40s.

And yes, I know how much they are worth. I don't care. It's called an influence sink. They should have never allowed enhancements to be removed during a respec in the first place, IMO.

That was the devs being nice.

And now we whine about not getting enough warning to use our freespecs for exactly that purpose. Pah'leeze.

Posted

Oh well. I had plenty of warning on VU, but brushed it off.
No big deal, just have a character who has two fully slotted builds and I was going to slowly peel all the IO's out of one build to feed alts and such.

Well, under Lighthouse and Ex Libris, we would get 7 days notice for a freespec, not 4. We'd be asked if there were any deal breaker bugs on Test that have to get fixed before it went Live. The day before, we'd be shown a draft live patch notes for feedback and corrections. And the day before, we'd be asked to compile all the guides for the issue to be ready.

If this really is I15, I will be *very* disappointed with the Producers and Community Service people. Very.

With each new issue there is less and less quality control.

The current mindset of Paragon Studies seems to be, Dazzle the players with new shiney stuff and they will forget what is broken.

Some of us can't readily get on test servers. My connection to whatever serve that downloads patches and versions is abysmal - as I speak, it's been fourteen hours since I started the downloader for I15's second, 90 megabyte patch, and I have a total of 43 megabytes, with a prospective speed of 0kb a second. I had literally no idea what the test changes felt like, and how I would respec in lieu of those changes.

Receiving the freespec along with the changes I'd want to first feel out is a bit of a pain in the tuchus.

Short notice on free respec isn't a big deal. Plan your build better or don't hoard free respecs. Problem solved.

i used one or two, but only because i would have anyway. Once i've got a fairly solid build with some sets going i rarely bother to respec unless i really want to try a totally new build. Though the addition of dual builds has made even that less required. My first 50 still has at least 5 respecs available if i want to use them.

I didn't hear about the freespecs until Saturday night, but was too busy over the weekend to use them.

Got up for morning hoops and did a respec on a brute over breakfast (4:30 a.m.ish est), then left. Got back at 8:10 a.m. est and the servers were apparently down for I15 (guessing they went down an hour early?).

Trust me, love that respecs are free some issues and there was a warning - just wish we were told Monday or Tuesday was the day (I guessed Tuesday... I fail!).

Anyone else that got caught expecting more time Monday morning or that they had until Tuesday?

[/ QUOTE ]

I didn't use any, but not because I ran out of time. I was pretty happy with all my builds to date. I have a couple of Doms who need a respec NOW because of the dominator changes to fix some problematic slotting, but other than that, I doubt I'll be using a freespec anytime too soon.

I used a free respec on thirteen of my fourteen characters on Protector. I was actually more prepared for this Issue than any previous one.

In general, I use a free respec every five levels (22, 27, 32, and so on) to sell all of my old enhancements, to lessen the cost of buying the next set (I level up my characters as a group). In the process, I may drop a move I rarely used and try a new one, or adjust how I slot a power or two.

It really helps me identify exactly how I want a character to preform, while saving some cash.

I think I've respec'ed maybe three or four toons since I started playing. I'm a casual enough player that sitting down and really working out a build on paper is pretty dull*, so unless I can find one to go by here on the forums (thanks to you helpful, helpful people who post those!), I usually just live with my toon's "imperfections".

*No I haven't bothered to get the hero builder thingy yet and very well may never bother to.

I've never respec'd. I choose my powers and IO's carefully. Not knocking respecing, but I've never found a need for them. Or the extra slots we have on each servers. I rarely play more than two creations at a time.

I choose my powers and IOs carefully also. Hell, I even plan my builds out in Mids beforehand. I still used nearly all my respecs on my main character because I like playing him in so many different ways. He's gone through many pool power restructures, or ranged-only, or melee-only (or nearly so) builds over the years. I've even used respecs to go back to an "old" build multiple times just because I wanted to.

Powers get changed and respecs happen.

Two of my characters get respec'd every chance I get. I like playing with their stuff. They're my 50s on blueside, an emp/arch and a claws/regen. I add and remove powers seemingly at random to see how it'd work out.

I tweak other characters as needed/wanted, for instance when I grow out of a low-level attack chain that needs more attacks because I can't slot as much recharge/set bonuses, but now I can slot sufficient recharge/set bonuses so I don't need as many attacks. Or to fit in a travel power because I've been using the Raptor/Jump packs from safeguard/mayhem. Or to fit Stamina in at level 22 when my lowbies get up there (if I want Stamina, which granted isn't always, I run without it until SOs-level and then respec in).

I only got two respec's done because I've been crashing left and right for the last week and a half - only some of which is my computer's fault.

But the freespec is for the changes, thats why you were given one. the 'old' one was for the previous issues stuff. Feel em out, let the tweaks come over the next couple of weeks, then use it. That is the way they were originally intended to be used.

[/ QUOTE ]Absolutely. I'm not saying I need them. That's why I pointed out it was a pain in the butt because it meant if I didn't mind the old changes, I couldn't save the freespec and use it for the new changes. If power X is changed, and I respec to check it out, I'm then stuck with it for an issue if I didn't like it. It is ever a minor annoyance.

Luckily, I had used all mine previously save on one toon (but he's pretty much done) so I didn't "lose" freespecs with this issue, which is very welcome since swapping sets around is respecs intensive

Still have vetspecs on most my toons though, but without the freespecs, they'd be long gone.

PVP changes so much respec's can be very handy and a free respec is something any newer player without a vet reward respec would love to have

Oh yea thats right its not about the community it is about "me" lol

Stop belittling people if they feel it is important to them. The devs's messed up on this, they usually give better notice and they dropped the ball here.

This thread wont make them issue another but it may remind them to try and be more considerate in the future.

This threads far more constructive that the 'whats ur favorite color threads"

Hats off to the OP keep the flames of discontent burning big guy LOL (yes this last sentence made to be funny)
