Signficantly longer loading times for me as well, although my previous wait from loading to login screen was mere seconds (ssd).
Using console, everything flies until it gets to a particular line.
Compiled Cg/CgFX Shader 'shadowmap_skin_vp.cg' -q -profile arbvp1 -entry main -Ishaders/cgfx -O3 -fastprecision
-DBIT_HIGH_QUALITY -DNO_FPRENDER -DR200 -DARBVP -DARBFP -DR300 -DR430 -DDX10_CLASS -DGLSL
(22.04)
I've loaded this multiple times, and each time it takes just over 18 seconds for this particular line alone. -
Quote:You're right but now I realize my comment in this particular context was inaccurate since this thread, and Local_Man's comment, is about using shift with another key in a bind and not about using shift alone.
Edit:
Thinking about this post again, I realize that BayBlast might be referring to the second part of what he quoted. As far as I am aware, the functionality of the buttons have not changed, making the statement "absolutely false"... but if that is the case, I wonder why he left the true part of the statement in the quote.
So Local_Man's statement in this context was correct.
Funny though, as I posted my original comment that little voice in the back of my mind was going are you really sure you want to say "absolutely"?... -
Quote:One of my biggest pet peeves in the game is the inconsistency with how IO's/recipes are labeled.it seems you are no longer able to make (or buy the recipes) Disorient Duration IOs from any worktable......i went to make some today and the section is completely gone from the tables on Freedom server and probably others as well
At least Stun IO's and recipes are more consistent about the inconsistency, with both recipe and IO being under some variation of the word "Stun".
However, if one wants to buy a recipe to make a slow IO, they would have to look for a "Snare Duration" recipe, whereas buying the already crafted IO is under "Slow Movement".
I keep hoping this will get fixed someday, but I'm not holding my breath. -
Stalkers would certainly disagree with you.
Actually Invisibility is a stealth power. Any power that grants a stealth radius would qualify as a "Stealth" power.
If one were to say "Concealment is not the same as invisibility", then that would be more accurate. -

What is your system configuration? (CPU? Video card? RAM? Motherboard?)
Quote:Not trying to be rude or anything, but I'm not really looking for anyone to critique my rig. I'm quite certain everything is well beyond the requirements. I'm just curious if anyone else has this exact issue. If anyone has, then we can compare our rigs to look for something in common...but I don't think listing all my info is needed right now...
If you're going to ask for guesses for what might be the cause, then we are going to ask you for your system specs. Being unwilling to give that information will likely earn you few responses.
Also, if you don't know what is causing your problem then how in the world can you know that listing all of your info is not needed right now? -
I vote for the Radeon HD 4850. That card has roughly the same capability as your nVidia 9800 GT. Newegg has one by my preferred company, XFX, for $109.

How quickly a patch is applied will vary depending on what files are being patched but for the most part is has to do with your computer, and more specifically your drive's read/write speed.
If your drive is close to full or fragmented, it adds to your patching time. If you don't regularily defrag your drive, download Defraggler from my signature link. -
Out of curiosity, do those of you having this problem have 3D sound enabled?
If so, does disabling it help? -

Quote:Basically, it is the same kind of lag that players with too little RAM saw when opening the Wentworth's/Black Market window (pre i17 at least). Being in Grandville is probably making it even worse too.Update the second.
I got a response to my petition. The GM told me to start the game up in Safe Mode. I did that and i was able to shut down my contacts window.
Now I just gotta figure out why my game freezes when I open my contacts window.
The lag is many times worse with the contacts window because the game is loading the contact's thumbnail graphics for all of the contacts your character has collected. Even on my brand new computer with SSDs and 6GB of GDDR3 RAM, I still see a significant hit to FPS when I open the contacts window.

Quote:Personally I don't think the HD 5870 is worth the extra bucks (10-15% improvement for 33% more $)....
That's what I had decided also. I went with the 5850 in my new computer. -
Quote:I bought windows7 ultimate 64bit and an 80GB Intel SSD (G2) for $300CDN during a boxing day special.
The SSD was faster for booting than my 7200RPM HD but for CoH it wasn't *that* much faster. I wound up going back to the Hard Drive and using the SSD as the location for my swap file.
I finally got a new computer up and running with the exact same SSDs with Win 7 Pro (though for $219 at Central Computers). I have one for my system drive, one for my gaming drive and I love them.
The SSD does make CoX run faster but it is not always perceptible. Network performance can really make it hard to notice, much less measure actual gains. Where one will see a big difference is in the speed of applying patches and verifying files.
Xeaon, if you could care less about slightly faster zone/base/mission load times and faster patching and verifying then an SSD probably is more than you need to spend money on. If you're more the type of person that really wishes that completion bar would go faster.. then you definitely won't regret buying an SSD. -

If nothing upsets or offends you, then guess what? Nobody has that power over you, and you lead a much happier life.
People GIVE others the power to hurt them. If someone is hurting you with words... simply take that power away from them. Give their words no weight or meaning. There, problem solved and you end up with an idiot that's ranting and raving his head off to no effect, wasting HIS time instead of yours.
Ironically though, I would say that dealing with the in-game bullies is much like dealing with Westley. If you don't like the current 'scenery' then it's best to move on with your mood intact, versus getting your knickers in a twist.

Quote:FurMark has a realtime GPU temp graph on the test screen, and it is an excellent Benchmark program. This version is supposed to work with Win 7, but I haven't tested that personally. The trial version of Hmonitor doesn't allow for GPU temperature readings. In the end it was a hassle to run the thing on long test runs so I just got Core Temp so I could, at the very least, monitor my CPU.
If you've got a free program that I can use that will monitor my GPU temperature, I'd be happy to give it a whirl.
Select these settings.
Run Mode:
--Stability Test
--Log GPU Temperature
Window Params:
--1920x1200
Do NOT use Xtreme Burning Mode. During the test, I would run it for two minutes (or just until temps get too high). The test can be stopped by hitting the ESC key. -
Quote:It's possible that you had insufficient cooling all along. Components can become 'weakened' after being exposed to excessive heat for extended periods, extreme heat once, from manufacturing defects (such as Nvidia's prior bonding/substrate process screwup), or just bad luck.Hoo-freakin'-ray. I think we've finally come to the issue. Why is heat becoming an issue now? Do I need to put some more of that heat transfer goo between my CPU and heat sink again?
I would still like to know what your GPU temps are getting to though. With that, you don't want to go over 105C.
I don't suppose you know your CFM(Cubic Feet per Minute) figures for airflow into and out of your case? -
Quote:What is your point here? Are you suggesting that because you are running Windows 7 with an Nvidia GTX285 card without heat problems, that therefore bAss_ackwards can't be having heat problems?I'm currently running Win 7 64 bit and not experiencing any of these problems.
Asus P5Q MB
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400
8 GB RAM
Nvidia GTX285 w/ Nvidia 195.62 drivers
I also have a Zalman 9700 CPU cooler and it's all mounted in an Antec 900 case with all the fans. I don't have any heat problems. -
Without other rebuttle information, I agree. Normally the CohHelper report gives enough info to look up the exact Manufacturer system specs, but in this case I'm stumped. It could be a home built system, or something I just haven't seen before?
Use Hmonitor or another monitoring tool to check your temperatures. If your temperatures are too high as we suspect then use this to help evaluate your current cooling configuration.
Quote:..How long have you had the SSD? If you're running everything off of the SSD rather than using it as occasional storage, you're wearing it down fairly rapidly. Each Write operation to an SSD moves that block of cells a little bit closer to wearing out. Even things like changes to "date last modified" for a file is a Write operation. -
Quote:With that kind of gradual performance degradation, I'm finding it rather hard to believe that the driver is the issue. It does indeed sound more like performance throttling due to overheating.Right now from a fresh system reboot I will be running CoH at 60 frames per second and then as I play longer my performance degrades down to a startling 7 to 8 frames per second.
Post a CohHelper log (link in my sig) so we can see what kind of system build you have. -

O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-19\..\RunOnce: [nltide_3] rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSectionEx nLite.inf,C,,4,N (User 'LOCAL SERVICE')
Seeing that you are using nLite, it's possible that the 'customization' of Windows is contributing to your problems.
Regardless though, IMO trying to get CoH to work on this computer is a waste of time.
Central Processor: AMD Sempron(tm) Processor 3100+, MMX, 3DNow, ~1.8GHz
Memory: 1022MB
Monitor's Max Resolution: 1600,1200
Video Device Name: ATI Radeon 9600 / X1050 Series
Manufacturer / Chip: ATI Technologies Inc. / ATI Radeon Graphics Processor AGP (0x4152)
Video Memory: 256.0 MB
Motherboard Manufacturer: WinFast
Motherboard Model: (empty)
Motherboard Product: 760GXK8MC
CoH is actually a very graphically intensive game, and running with that very old graphics card (and at 1600x1200 to boot..), your gaming quality is going to be incredibly poor. That micro-atx motherboard only supports up to 2GB of RAM, and you are stuck with a 8x AGP slot, so upgrading really isn't practical either. -
Quote:Considering the heatsinks that I've had to perform 'surgery' on to get the dust out of them... that would be more than enough reason for me to try liquid cooling.2) Liquid cooling in a gamer PC is like having a spoiler on the sports trim package of a car, it's expected but that doesn't mean it does anything out of the ordinary. A lot of the boutique gamer companies are adopting the no muss - no fuss self contained CPU liquid cooling system. However I've yet to see a review that shows that they outperform traditional heatsink tower coolers.
