What is Ninja Run?

What is the Ninja Run power that's part of the new "Martial Arts" booster pack? Is this just another sprint power or is it something better?

Don't get me started on the "new" walk power - just what we needed, something that de-toggles us instead of letting the baddies do it for us.

Try to imagine a cross between Super Speed and Combat Jumping. You run fast, jump pretty high and far forward. However, you don't run as fast as SS or as high as with CJ. The animation for the whole thing is completely new, most often described as looking like something from Naruto. The jumps are very acrobatic looking, and when you run backwards, your avatar actually turns around and runs towards you (similar to how Walk works, since you've clearly seen that). Like other pack and vet powers, you can't slot Ninja Run, but you can stack other buffs to jump and run speed on it, which can mean you can get going quite fast. You cannot run it with SS, SJ or CJ.

Since you've already been answered quite well, I'll ask you a question or two.

What baddies detoggle you? Do you fight mobs of Sappers all the time?

Maybe he's a Blaster. Death = detoggle

Walk is awesome. Sorry you don't know how to use it.

Fixed that for you.

You don't like it, you're not forced to use it, you don't lose a power choice or anything. But we did, indeed, ask for it for years.

Ninja Run is about half the run speed of Super Speed and about half the jump of Super Jump. Turn on Sprint + Ninja Run and you're running faster than the Raptor Pack and jumping about half as high/long as super jump... and you get it at level 4.

It's well worth it. At level 50 Sprint (unslotted) + NR is about the base speed of Super Speed.

Don't start. MANY people have been asking for a walk power for a LONG time. If you don't like, don't use it. It's that simple. It's not like you had to buy a booster pack to get it.

It really is a big deal. It's something many people asked for consistently for a long time. We finally got it. Which is kind of the opposite of a bad Dev move.

No such thing. There is nothing a professional game developer can do that will be liked by every customer. The universe would implode.

Even if I didn't like [in a way that sometimes makes me feel awkward] the walk power for idling around, I'd dig its detoggle, which I use.

When I show up somewhere and I'm done with my stealth, ninja run, sprint, etc, I tap my walk key twice and I'm standing there. I'm trying not to be one of those people who's always Ninja Hunched all the time.

[And Ninja Run jump is not slowed by stealth. At lev 35 I'm going 62mph jumping but only 42ish running.]

wait... not slowed by stealth? Sooooo gotta get this today. Then I can respec my scrapper to actually do what he is supposed to do and not have all of that crap. SWEETNESS!!!!

Jump speed stays the same, not run. So take Hurdle. The speed increases with level.

Edited to add: My 50 who had swift instead of hurdle jumps slower than my 20 with hurdle. I think 42 and 49. And that's 30 levels there. Hurdle ftw.

Sorry, us roleplayers love it. Just remove it from your power tray if it bothers you so much.

Aside from all the very good descriptions given already, there is one more important thing to remember about NR...

It makes travelling around Grandville one of the most entertaining thing ever.
