Whenever I load into a city zone, I'm greeting with what sounds like the car engine sound, only with the volume ramped up to 100 for a few brief seconds before the zone finishes loading.

Does anyone else get this? Any way to stop it?

Oh, and Crimson demands you play this arc-> Twisted Knives (MA Arc #397769)

I've experienced it too....kinda like my toon is doing the Jackhammer emote everytime I zone.

Yes, I get this when the character logging in is in an area with a lot of background sounds. It's like the sounds are building up and then playing all at the same time once you're loaded, which increases their volume.

Yup, I get it, too. Sounds like being right under an elevated railway - very clacky and loud.

I've noticed this as well problem as well, and no I don't have 3D sound enabled. It doesn't seem to occur every time I load into a zone, but I'd say at least 50% of the time, and every time I load a new toon in for the first time.

EDIT: I'm not using a stand-alone sound card. I'm using an on-board HD-capable sound card.

Yep, I get it every time I log in and occasionally on zoning; it's generally kind of a loud rumble for me. It's not as loud for me as for most of you, but then again I generally play with SFX turned down to 15%... and this is at least twice as loud as a battle.

Win7, Asus mobo with onboard SoundMAX Digital HD Audio. It's an annoying bug, but I have to admit it's lower priority than many other bugs I've run into since it only lasts 1-2 seconds.

COH has just been murdered by NCSoft. http://www.change.org/petitions/ncso...city-of-heroes

I get this also, like a train speeding by, usually only when i first log in though, or make a new char, I oddly thought it was the train hero side, till i realiesed wait i'm on villains!

The end is just a new beginning, Goodbye all my coh friends and even the enemies, its been a blast I will miss you all. Thank you Paragon team, you gave me a home from home I will always appriciate it.

I just figured it was a Linux bug. Good to know it isn't -- I'll adjust the AppDB report I'm preparing.

Same for me, 100% get this sound when I log in, not so sure about zoning though. I'll make note of the instances.

It's never happened while zoning for me. But happens 100% of the time when I first load a character after logging in.

This can be tested by logging out somewhere quiet like Ouroboros, or somewhere with distinct sounds like Pocket D and then hearing what it's like loading up again with those toons.

That's exactly what my observations were.
Anyway, for a controlled test I just tried a character logged into the Talos police station, and got the Talos background noise build up and play like a loud static burst during the progression of the loading bar until I was fully in game (surprisingly it was not the police station sirens and radio chatter, just the background ambient city sounds that played loud). Relogged the character in a remote part of Ouroboros and had the background sounds play during loading but they did not build up in volume.
I have music off, 3d on, and running a Creative X-Fi Xtreme with Win 7 64 bit driver version 5.12.1.2018.

I'll do more testing when I get a chance.
