  1. As I have only just seen the latest Dalek storym, yes I am behind the times here, I will say it was ok but about the errm converted roboslaves? people, that is a staple of the daleks for years, the very second ever Dalek series in 64 had the dalek use mind controlled slaves, then after that they used ogrons a type of ape like creature, then later they used diplicates, so yeah that is part fo the Dalek mythos, lalthough never used quite like that it is part of what they do. All in all a decent episode though I wish it had been done a tad more seriously, I tend to think the menace was there but it was lost in translation to TV a little. It would have made a interesting two parter, as for the ending well, 50 50 it may be a new start for the doctor v the Daleks thing, it stops them following him for a bit, however remember chances are Davros is still about and could make them remember. Also their could be back up systems yadda yadda either way it has stopped them hunting the Doctor for a bit. So 8 out of 10 for me, decent but not as good as it could be.
  2. For me, no, I loved the MMo aspect the people made the game more fun for me, i would prefer it to stay as a MMO. althoguh a stand alone based off city of heroes I guess would be ok. But honestly not really my style.
  3. I really hope NCsoft sell it, thanks tonyV and the rest of titan even if we end up with jsut a private server its something. Honestly though I hope NC sell it. That seems to be the main sticking point at the moment will they wont they.

On subject to delete would be to admit the possibility of defeat and as a mostly redsider I will not! There is no possibility of defeat!

    False Hope

I tihnk most of us know if we cant somehow get NCsoft to sell the IP or even rent it out to somone that things get difficult, I felt the same way a while back depressed, ther eis no hope. Sure we have a 10% chance at best but thats better than nothing.
  5. Well if this is true, it does give hope that they or someone in the company at least may be willing to say, sell it to somone. Because some folks may well have a 'connection' to the game and may be quite willing to pass it on, while sur eI am about as in touch with how corps work as a walrus is about nuclear bombs. However it dont hurt our chances, it may be a good sign that they may sell COH on. Also the no emails could be a good sign in a odd way, maybe no goodbye emails means they are trying to sell it on. You know dont blow the doom trumpet till we are sure. Plus if that was the case and some of the devs were onb oard with it, I dont think they would be allowed to say. (I doubt this by the way) But having seen a similar situation before people tend not to speak till they are sure in the corporate world.

That is my take on this, sure they may not be the heroes of this but getting them to talk to us or negotiate the moving on of the IP to somone else is not a bad thing. All they need to be is willing to sell for things to move on, sure it may still fail and sure its not a bad thing to be angry at NCsoft, don't let that anger go too far though, sorry if this sound sliek arambling but that is my take on this kind of thing.
  6. I loved the mission architect too, it was a amazing creative tool, sure it was used for 'naughty' things as well but still. Those of us who were creative loved it. Also for a RP tool it was second to none, a truly deep sad shame this is being lost, it was part of what made coh what it was. The creative outlets we could make toons as we wanted and give them stories, hell even worlds with a bit of inventiveness in the AE so yes I know this seems a little random but thats my goodbye to MA. thank you all involved in making this it was a awesome outlet and made COH give life to our imaginations.
  7. Sadly i dont think if it is sold Valve will buy it, sure its worth a go and im all for giving COH any chance, it just dont seem Valves 'thing' but anything to get it out there you never know if it keeps coh in the radar someone might pop up and try to buy it.
  8. Count me in the crying like a big wuss camp.
  9. Just a short thing I put together, I felt like saying an IC goodbye to COH, I felt it ‘right’ to do. If the worst happens. I know the writing may not be the best but at a time like this I don’t think that’s the point.

    Goodbye My Friend.

She knew that it was coming, as she stood on the roof of her office block in St Martial, A great wave of something horrible was coming, all her calculations said so. The woman maybe to some monster known as Countess Leeches sighed, it was hard to believe after all this time. After all the work she had spent into establishing herself, into trying to make a future that for once didn’t see her as the big bad evil. She shook her head sadly her black eyes hiding any emotions for now, her pale skin emphasising the light hitting it from the low sunset. She could hear panicking in the streets below. Sirens were sounding, people were running and screaming. Arachnos thugs were trying to control it in their own usual brutal way, even most of them had turned traitor and started stealing and grabbing anything they could before they tried to flee. Even a few Arbiters. She had closed down her bases in this area and moved her resources elsewhere. She saw similar panic in Paragon via monitors earlier. She felt no joy in this chaos, no joy at all.
A orange and black armoured Cyborg woman known as Emberdyne approached holding a small girls hand, the little girl had black eyes and pale skin and claws just like Leeches and Emberdyne said.
“Ok, everything is ready to go, the jet copter will be here any second”.
    Leeches nodded
    “Thank you Ember”.
Then she knelt near her daughter and whispered, “We are going on journey little one, don’t be scared ok? Everything will be ok, I promise. I would never lie to you would I?
The little girl looked at her mother, “Why do we have to go mother?
Leeches said hiding the sadness from her voice, “Something horrible is coming here, something that will destroy everything we know here”.
As she said that a noisy engine sound from above arrived and a helicopter with jet engines on its sides came to a slow landing as an entrance ramp lowered to the floor. Leeches took her daughters hand in hers gently and lead her into the jet copter strapping her into a safety belt on a padded seat and she kisses her cheek and said warmly, ”Hold on tight when we start moving, and don’t be afraid I will be here with you, I just have one last thing to do”.
Her daughter nodded smiling worriedly as Emberdyne moved passed her and said to the pilot, “Ok lad get ready to blow this place”.
Leeches lifted a hand to stop the pilot taking off, “Not yet, soon”.
Then she walked back down the entry ramp.

She needed a little time here to think one last time, she hoped Dean was ok, that poor man, he never seemed to have much luck, she had made contact with him, she hoped in some way he found a way out of here too. Away from this madness, he was so optimistic that things would be ok. Leeches knew though, they wouldn’t the end was upon them almost, she hoped to any deity that was there that he made it out. Communication had broken down in these last terrible hours. Everything was breaking down. For once hero and villain were united in this. It was sad that only now at the end was peace finally found. Peace in this madness, she really hoped Dean would make it, She sniffed back some feelings, sadness? Tears? No that was not possible. She shook off these thoughts and looked over the city scape below as smoke rose in the distance as fires started, the riots were getting worse. She then went on in her thoughts.

Another place gone, she blinked a tear rolling its way down her left cheek. She touched the tear with a clawed finger and looked at it surprised as more followed. So she did have feelings after all? She seemed so taken aback by this, so shocked, then she let the tears flow not trying to stop them. She looked over the St martial skyline one last time, this was not the end, but part of her had died here. She could feel that, much to her surprise and probably Emberdynes too Ember came down the entry ramp to the jet chopper and rested a gentle hand on Leeches left shoulder and said quietly.
“Let it out, its ok, I won’t tell anyone”.
Leeches nodded sadly and said in a trembling voice, “Thank you Ember, I never said it before but I do appreciate the help you have given me over these last couple of years”.
Ember clicked her head to the left a little and said, “Don’t sweat it, ya should know by now I liked ya really”.
Leeches smiled sadly and nodded, “Yes, what of the others?
“They know, don’t worry and stay peachy”.
Leeches sighed a long sad sigh, “I really felt at home here, I shall miss it, I really shall”.
Ember sighed too, “So will I, ya know I thought you would be ok with this being so old, so much changing and all that ya know?
Leeches looked at ember sadly, “Losing things never gets easier”.
Ember nodded and said quietly, “I do feel ya, hell I felt at home here to ya know? But I am used to travelling. We have to get going now though, whatever the storm is, it’s coming now, we must leave”.
Leeches nodded and got on board the jet copter and sat at the passenger’s seat at the front and nodded to the pilot, “Let’s go”.
Slowly the copter lifted and turned giving Leeches one last look at the city below and she said, “Take us over Paragon too I wish to see it one more time”.
The pilot nodded and Leeches quietly whispered to the city below, knowing her world had changed again, “Goodbye my friend”.

    The End?

    I am crying.

Yup I tried not to but yes I am crying, this is a horrible feeling, time for booze here too.
  11. Stiki

    To all of you...

No, thank you and you other Paragon guys, you all did the best with what you had, you were constantly pushing this game to be better, right up to the end. COH is unique and will be unique for a very long time. This is especially sad as i really felt it was finding its feet again. You guys desserved better than this!
  12. Ill be here till the end hell of a time i picked to come back of my break but I am glad I did, going to play this last few weeks of coh to the full, today though I shall mostly be sad then I gear up to be a big bad villain or a big shiny hero and do some fighting! Its not over till its over.
  13. If i can support the kickstarter thing in any way I will, if this has got to go down I say go down fighting.
  14. Sadly I think if there is a coh2 it wont be NCsoft making it, if they were they would have announced it before closing COH, its not a smart idea to rage your future customers. So I think no to this, I wish it was coh2 belive me but no my gut says its not.

If I am proved wrong however I will gladly eat a pair of dirty underpants.
  15. A salute to all my toons and others folks toons.

My two mains countess and emberdyne i have deleted hundreds probably but those two always stuck with me *salutes*
  16. My in game name was @cryella and sometimes misrae I know most if not anyone remembers me, I was something of a lurker, but did sometimes dabble in RP on union and Virtue. I know I was something of a experimental rp'er and that didn't always go down too well. But I just want to say, it was a pleasure. To all I met even the random pugs where we got rteam wiped. It was all good. The Union guys I'll miss you guys, the few on Virtue I got to know miss you guys too. Thank you all for making the community what it was. Also thank you paragon studios, this game was one in a million. If it has to end like this then I'm glad I had the years in the game I did. From my humble Start on defiant to my rping days. It was all fun, thank you for it. I will miss my little home from home. Good luck and all the best for the future.
  17. Taliea raised a hand and the other two stopped ad she said in a almost casual tone, "Wait, this thing poses a obvious limited threat, it's weapons are harmless and its patrol pattern would indicate a guard device".

Banov sigheed, "Does it matter even hitting something like that makes us look good here correct?

Taliea shurgged, "Ok, you two attack, enjoy the battle, i shall just watch from here".

With that she activated hover jets that seemed to be built into legs and hovered above the ground as Banov and the robots advanced on the crab machine. Taliea didn't like this, but she was sure a little fun for the other two would do no harm, she would ahve to consider reactivating Banov's emotional inhibitors though.

Banov ran up to the crab machine and pummed into one of its legs with his fists before backing up and seeing what effect that had, as the robot stayed a safe distance and startd firing red blasts of energy from its hands at the crab.
  18. The three figures found their selves drifting in a void of purple electricity Taliea could feel the cyborgs eyes burning into her, she could sense what he wanted to say. I told you so, she was beginning to wonder if they were trapped into this void. She then realised they were travelling though it was difficult to tell. The robot said, “Connection to drone unit’s lost, current location unknown”.
Taliea mentally face palmed, she hated robots at the best of times, stupid ones were even worse, unless it just enjoyed pointing out the damn obvious.

They then exited the void, Taliea had hoped they would avoid attention unfortunately though they had arrived right in the middle of one of the skyway highways in a big electronic flash and cars skidded to a halt in front of them and their was a torrent of abuse from angered and surprised drivers. The robot lifted its arms and laser guns lifted out of its palms and powered up, “Unit targeting potential hostile humanoids in cars”.
It said almost sounding annoyed. Taliea snapped, “Stand down! We don’t know where we are, look at the sky, and look at those force field wall things over there“. She said pointing to the nearest war wall and she continued, “We can’t attack everything that moves without knowing what the hell is going on or where we are”.
The Cyborg said, “Well we appear to be on a road maybe we should move?
Taliea said grumpily, “Don’t whine Banov, we are tough enough to take a hit off those things, they look primitive metal vehicles, but still, yes. Let’s wait on the sidewalk for a moment while we get what information we can”.
Then the robot said, “Unidentified robotic construct approaching, detector indicate it is heading for us”.
One of the hovering drones approached and Taliea said to the robot again this time not sounding so harsh to the robot, “No firing yet, it’s saying something”.
The Mechano got closer almost nervously and repeated its message. Taliea and Banov looked at the map and Banov said questioningly, “Should we even care if something is attack this King Row place?
Taliea smirked slightly, “Oh we don’t care, but we have to show ourselves as none hostile we are vastly outnumbered and it seems the robot may finally vent its rage”.
Banov said to the drone, “Ok enough of the messages, depart will you!
With that the drone floated away and made a hasty exit getting the message that it’s work here was done. Banov said to Taliea “I sure miss the mind link to call in backup, but I think we can take on this, whatever this thing is”.
Taliea said smugly, “Oh of course we can, we may even begin converting some of the people here to build up our forces and build a mind link hub, perhaps later though. For now we must act like peaceful negotiators and act like we are willing to help this primitive city”.
Banov nodded, “Ok, it has been agreed”.

Soon after the three arrived at the Kings row and made their way to the area the drone told them to head for and prepared their selves as best they could for whatever was to come. They could hear something in the distance and could hear emergancy sirens and the robot seemed almost happy as it powred up its weapons again an Banov powered up a personal force field. Taliea seemed content to follow them for now, after all she had no more idea of what to expect than the others.
  19. ((I probably wont post too regulary or often, but I will try. This was too tempting to resist, if I go a tad over the top, feel free to PM where I will happily alter it. ))

    Place: Paragon zero sector.
Dimension: A None Primal Earth previously unknown.

A row of ten soldiers stood in a street in a wedge formation, they were all in red and black armour with full head helmets with gold mirror visors that revealed nothing of the face beneath. They clutched rifles to their chests with their sleek but armoured gloves in a salute awaiting orders. The street had elements of the primal Paragon but was rather drastically different in other regards. Flames from huge metal industrial chimney stacks were burnt off into the red and grey sky. aAnd red neon lights were along the sides of many buildings and red electricity made spider web like patterns in the sky. Four more figures approached a door of the building the soldiers were waiting outside of. It was a simple warehouse, it seemed normal and unassuming that was apart from the unearthly purple glow flashing through its windows.

A hovering helicopter like craft arrived overhead and a red spotlight lit up the warehouse in a red ominous glow. Inside the dimly lit cockpit of the craft the pilot was bent forwards in a padded seat, he was looking through a submarine like scope that provided a display to the targeting systems. The pilot had a similar helmet to the soldiers only with no face visor, this revealed a badly scarred pale face with a tub going into the right side of the pilots mouth and his ears had been replaced by mechanical flat round devices. The pilot pressed a button on the hover ships control column and a flat robotic voice said, “Scanning underway, central hive mind processor alerted”.
The pilot zoomed in on the warehouse and writing in English and computer code scrolled from left to right on the bottom of the display screen. It read, energy spike detected, origin unknown, meta units alerted and on scene mind link commencing pilot now to surrender to external mind control. The pilot then seemed to make a motion like he was stretching his neck then his movements became far more robotic as his mind was given over to be controlled by the super humans who were about to enter the suspect building. The flat robotic voice said almost needlessly, “Scan complete, central hive mind processor connected to leading council. Observation commencing, recording commencing, now proceeding passive scanning”.

The three figures who were approaching the building got into a wedge formation, the front middle of the three figures was a woman in a cape that has a large red scorpion on a black circular background on it and the same red and black armour that the soldiers wore. She had a robotic metal spine that was visible but covered with a force field. She also had pale skin but more due to the low light than to anything else, she had a cybernetic right eye that clicked and whirred as it moved and it glowed dimly red. She had red and black hair and had a tube that was in her neck and went into the side of her cheek. To her right was a tall red robot with almost Crey looking face details. It had an oval shaped head and one big eye on the right of its face and two smaller ones on the left. It stood roughly seven foot tall, it had talon like robotic feet and spiked metal clawed hands. It followed her silently, five similar robots were lurking in the background. They looked slightly less advanced and seemed to be dormantly waiting for orders. To the woman’s left was a half human half reptilian cyborg in the usual armour but with no cape. This figure was a man with a metal claw for a right hand. He also had a robotic bottom jaw with sharp metal teeth in it and these three figures approached the doorway closer.

As they approached the doorway they saw the glow seem to get more intense. The woman said in a human voice that seemed to have a slight robotic tint to it and very little emotion, “Unit Taliea to leader council, the energy form seems aware of our approach, almost like it is hungry, should we proceed?
The flat robotic voice from before said, “Proceed, investigate, report”.
Taliea sighed sounding reluctant, her first sign of emotion. Then she quietly swore before saying, “Understood command, will Proceed”.
She them turned her head to look at the robot, “Activate your drones to follow us, I have control of the pilot above, now we enter, crush all resistance, there is obviously illegal and dangerous activities going on here, such activities are punished by death”.
The cyborg said sounding decidedly unhappy about the situation, “I don’t approve of being used as a bullet shield for commands query”.
Taliea looked at him and said, “They can hear you, know your place”.
“I do, I just don’t like my place”.
Then Taliea pushed on the door and it came open and there was suddenly a loud electronic crack and a flash. Then the three members of the entry team vanished leaving the soldiers staring in confusion and making the drone robots collapse on the floor as their link to their lead unit was lost.
  20. Where is this all continuing, back on the main open season one? Or one of the others, or did I miss something? The forums are odd lately, IE is strangly unhappy.
  21. Not my thing as I don't really use emotes much apart from fishing in the sewers. Uniforms and costumes parts are my thing. But some folks like emotes.
  22. Not exactly the same but similar, I get in game very random lag too. It will play fine for about half an hour or so. Then it goes odd, its hard to explain so I will go with it seems on off on off. Even in chat channels it happens for about ten seconds I lag then fine then 5 to ten seconds again and continues till I relog. I thought it was just my internet acting up but seems other are having similar problems too.
  23. Stiki

    Eye Blasters

Im still waiting for a full laser gun set, pulse laser set devs you hear I have cookies, beer, bananas and bribes for any dev who wants to make the laser gun set. <_<

As for laser eyes, well as said three powers already sort of do all laser eyes would do. so maybe one or two more but, I think it would suffer the same trouble mind attack sets suffer. All looking the same, plus the probable copyright stuff, though if that was the case they would already be in trouble with the laser eyes they have, so. hummm can't realy see this.
  24. Right nice to see it has moved on to a less heated discussion. As for Characters being every AT, I think I am a bit guilty of that with two of my Characters, it was pretty much related to the heroes/villains that can solo AV's. So I have the MM version of that Character that beat Recluse, so as a solo story where do you go then? So I used the VEAT story as a continuation of that Characters story, does that mean said character abandons all the MM skills? Which was a bit of a sticking point, so I kept both versions.

Then theres also the question of what is a MM without minions? AT wise not minionless MM, as well the character may not want robots/ninjas/zombies following them around all the time. So I went with a corrupter version pretty much the powers the MM would be without minions. Then for character reasons it became a stalker/scrapper, as they get a sword and the character history was from the dark ages so was logical to me. Even then though I stuck to the equivlent secondary power the same as the corr had only the armour not blaster set. But that character in question was never strong enough to be a tank or a brute. So while it seems OMG WHAT ARE YOU DOING? I think that was one way to pull it off, especially with something/dark as dark powers are pretty common so can do multi AT Characters with such powers.

I think the real way to do this is well realise what the character is at its base, in that case I went with corrupter mostly. Though as pretty much any character can learn how to use swords or guns I didnt see letting that character have swords or guns really mattered. My reasoning to that was any one can be trained in that and a dark ages charater would be trained in swords anyway. Plus things likes swords and guns are not really a power, like say throwing lightning or radiation. They are mroe a skill. Then again there is the trouble of a robotic character, who is saying a robot cant upgrade itself. You know one glove or powerpack fires bolts of radiation, the next day different setting fires electric.

That said what I personally dont like to see is say a character one day being a I dunno Dark/Dark Defender then the next day a illu/elec troller. as the powers are totally different so how can it be the same character. Though again sinse we can now colour powers really any power can be made looks wise to fit any character so it is a tricky thing to limit where as before it was a lot easier to define. So pretty much the devs ruined my whole argument *shakes fist*.

In the end of the day, I think the most important thing is how you Roleplay it, most things don't cause trouble unless you decided your character can do everything and is good at everything and so on.
  25. You mean if CB had killed 2000 vampire children we wouldn't have been here arguing? Or uhm I mean discussing this. <_< >_>
