Show of Hands: Who didn't use current freespecs?
And I forsee a quick, "Oh, didn't we tell you? Aw, sorry, our bad, have another round of Freespecs." as the solution.
My minor gripe isn't about the Respecs (well actually, more on that later), it's about the downturn in the quality and quantity of communication. Yes, I realize that making Going Rogue is a big deal that monopolizes your time...also, we're still here playing the rest of the game. Please, don't forget about us.
Back to the respecs, these things used to be valuable--you know, have to beat that Trial to earn them? The one that got dumbed down to be easier (blueside, at least)? I have them coming out my armpits. I want to cash in all these Respecs for 27 merits apiece. Please?
Just...stop giving them out all the time.
There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

If this really is I15, I will be *very* disappointed with the Producers and Community Service people. Very.

It really is. The Live and Test clients are identical as of this morning.
<QR>
I used a few once I15 had hit test.
You really dont need a 7 day warning, once open testing is in place you know the issue is coming, dont hold off, use them at that time.
What I didn't do was create a new alt I had in mind last night, so that she would have one, but as I was in game a lot this weekend, that is no-ones fault but my own.
@Catwhoorg "Rule of Three - Finale" Arc# 1984
@Mr Falkland Islands"A Nation Goes Rogue" Arc# 2369 "Toasters and Pop Tarts" Arc#116617
I used none.
Gah, I forgot them myself....can't tghink of any of my characters that *needed* a respec, though.
Currently playing:
The Domestic: Broom/WP
Shadowhex: Dark Control/Dark Affinity
Defenestration Lass: Grav/Kin

I actually haven't used my Freespecs in about three Issues. Oh sure, I may use one here or there, but most certainly not because a new Freespec is coming out.
<qr>
Missed the announcement, but I tend to use the freespecs as I need them; not because there's a new one on the way. Think I've only used a vetspec once after running out of freespecs.. and this is on. .er . .100+ characters in 4 years.

"Chew Electric Death, Snarling Cur!"
95 percent of my toons don't need to respec. 40 percent of my toons would be better with different IO slotting, and half of the IOs I'd be removing cost millions and could work better on other toons.
If I could remove IOs without a respec... then I wouldn't need to bug out when I miss a free grant lol.
Thank you, City of Heroes, for giving me a superhero social network combined with amazingly smooth game play. Petitions signed with realistic expectations.
I haven't needed to respec a character in months.

I actually gave a suggestion around Issue 13 to prevent this very thing. Too bad Ex Libris wasn't around to share it with the rest of the staff this time.
What I suggested in the aftermath was that they hold back the freespec granting till one week after an Issue release so that players get a chance to play with the changes before getting the respec.

There are many things I could say to this, but it would be less than diplomatic towards the NCsoft/Paragon Studios teams.
Triumph: White Succubus: 50 Ill/Emp/PF Snow Globe: 50 Ice/FF/Ice Strobe: 50 PB Shi Otomi: 50 Ninja/Ninjistu/GW Stalker My other characters

Your suggestion was an excellent one to prevent both kneejerk respecs and avoid a PR mess. Maybe they will consider your suggestion for the next time.
total kick to the gut
This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.
Why do I get the inkling that someone pulled the trigger a day early?
And why after 5 plus years does NCSoft push out a release before a major holiday so if something goes terribly wrong there won't be a quick fix until after the holiday is over?

I used one on my Emp/Psi yesterday, figuring she needed a tweak and I'd get another frespec eventually. I wasn't aware that I15 was coming down *that* soon.
Suggestions:
Super Packs Done Right
Influence Sink: IO Level Mod/Recrafting
Random Merit Rolls: Scale cost by Toon Level
I am:
1) Incredibly happy to have the release pushed out a full work week before a holiday weekend where I can play all I want. Thank you very much for not waiting until after my time off is gone!
2) A new issue has been in open beta for a while. This means that a new issue is due to be released -soon-. This means that the old freespecs will be rolled into a new freespec. Given that this is ISSUE 15, no vet has reason to complain that they did not get enough warning.
3) When issue 16 goes into open beta, its release will follow shortly thereafter. Use your freespecs before the release. Is that enough warning?
Thank you once again devs for a fun game I am still playing 61 months later.

I really wanted to work on respecing a level 50 character. I intended to swap a few powers to try something new and perhaps try some of the new Set IOs that were introduced recently. However, for unknown reasons, my computer suddenly can't see my printer. The character is fully Set IO'ed out and there's no way I'd be able to remember how anything is slotted without a hardcopy. I thought we had a couple more days before Issue 15 goes live. I was just thinking that I could email the image to myself at work and print it out there. Black and white is better than nothing, but alas, it is too late.
I did get 2 other characters over the weekend, but they were the easy. They were mid-30s so it was just a matter of collecting the Set IO pieces and then swapping out the Commons IOs. I really didn't need to use a respec for this, but I wanted to cash out the Common IOs.
Teams are the number one killer of soloists.

I didn't use my freespecs, but um, I never do, Infact I usually just do the respec trial and let my free/vetspecs copy over each other.
Freespecs are a boring method, respec trials ftw!!!!!
Shhh. My common sense is tingling. ~ Deadpool
yep very shprt notice i just read yesterday a free respec was comin and today i15 launched not sure exactly when they posted this info but an email would have been nice
I consider this a lost respec and no thanks to the devs for such short sightedness im terribly disapointed in this whole game in the last few months 2 accounts cancelled 1 left to go
Just tested, in case they were holding off on the freespec until later, and the character I finished freespecing 5 minutes before the server went down this morning for maintenance has a new freespec.
So unless they offer another one later on for the lack of notice on this one, that was it, it issued with the I15 release to live (which was confirmed with a popup window when I just logged on).
Pity, I also had in mind doing a PvP respec on a grav/FF who is sitting around unplayed otherwise but that was a more complex project I didn't have a chance to get to this weekend. At least I got the two characters who *really* needed it.
I think I've used like 4 total freespec's since they were introduced. That is across 70+ characters.

How much trouble would it be to just send out a GMotD a few days before a new issue is going to drop to warn people to use up their freespecs? Niv posted her announcement sometime on Friday, why not just go ahead and send out an in-game message at the same time?
No, it's not a big deal, and it's not something I'm going to get all drama-queeny over, but if you're going to go to the trouble of announcing it at all, why limit it to the forums?

Some people who didn't log in over the weekend would start complaining that they missed it cause they didn't play or read the forums and will start demanding an email and a phone call to make sure they don't miss their precious free respec. Whatever they do, someone is gonna miss the announcement and complain. Issue 15 has been in test for a month or so now. You knew it was coming. Its not hard to check the dev and community digest portions of the forum every once in a while to see what the devs have said. Plus, how badly did you need to use a respec if you haven't since the last one was pushed out already?
Well, it isn't like I did not try. And I did not even know about the announcement.
I did /respec on my Ice/Rad on Saturday, did the slots, repositioned Enhancements and was good to go.
"Respec failed" was the cryptic message I got.
Well, I reasoned that I had gone afk for a RL summons, and perhaps the /respec internally timed out. So I did it again, stem to stern, no interruptions.
"Respec failed."
I am still waiting to hear back from customer support, who kicked it upstairs.
I have a plethora of vetspecs, and I usually enjoy running the Terra Volta drama, so it does not really hurt me there; I pretty well have the hang of using Mids and have rarely had a power disappoint me to where I had to discard it. So I will likely never run out of respecs on all but my first few heroes, (who consumed a copious number as I learned about any number of things the hard way. ) Just an irritant to waste the time.
So I tried to use mine, but "respec failed." Will have to see what is up with that. At least the guy was a lvl 18, as opposed to a 50!
"How do you know you are on the side of good?" a Paragon citizen asked him. "How can we even know what is 'good'?"
"The Most High has spoken, even with His own blood," Melancton replied. "Surely we know."
