At what level can you no longer do missions alone?

ok....i'm startin to have a feeling that once reach a certain level, you have no choice but to do missions with others....is this true? if so, what level is pretty much the end of the line for doing missions solo?

You can solo all the way to 50. Some AT/build combos may solo slower than others...

Depending on your character, there might be some missions that you can't solo ( low damage character, high regen enemy for example ). But that's one thing mission skip is for. In general, the game is designed to be soloable to 50.

There's a few missions that require multiple glowies clicked simultaneously, but the contacts should give fair warning on those.

You'll notice a few missions here and there that you won't be able to solo if you have the "wrong" AT or set up. However, for the most part you should be able to solo most content.

And of course, there's always Mission Architect, that has plenty of solo friendly stuff.

What gave you that feeling? Are you in the teens? That level range sucks, but there's never, ever a time in this game that you can't solo with any AT.

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

There are a couple arcs hero side (can't speak about redside since I don't have high level toons there) which you'd WANT to have a partner for at least a duo or even a team for some smackdown on the arch-villains. However, nothing in this game is now "unsoloable" except for one or two scant "touch multiple glowies at once" missions - which are frequently droppable.

It USED to be different, I had to shelve my emp/dark defender because the AV > EB code hadn't yet been put in the game. But the moment I no longer needed a full team to take down an AV, I could pull a friend or two and have a small duo/trio do an eb way more easily.

I've got a mission where Ghost Widow as a EB drops my level 41 corrupter every single time and I can't drop it. So I wouldn't say you can always solo content no matter what.

My current plan is to outlevel the mission and see about picking up a Shivan and a nuke and see how it goes.

Shivan would be enough, no need to outlevel.

There is a trick to that one.

Drop the Shivan inside GW's Circle.

Get behind one of the "arms" of the Circle.

Turn the camera so that you can see the glowie, and click it.

As soon as GW appears, she and the Shivan will aggro on each other, which should leave you free to attack Ghost Widow unmolested. It wouldn't hurt to pop a couple of Purples so that she whiffs the few times she turns her attention away from the Shivan.

This is how I took her down with my level 40 Dark / Cold Corruptor.

So you want to join the Skulls? (level 1-14 Villainous arc)

As others have stated, some specific missions may require more than one character to complete. Additionally, some missions and enemies may be impossible to solo for some ATs (for example, my dark defender's damage output is lower than some enemy's regeneration rate). However, there is always something you can solo at each level.

I have SOLOed a Defender to 50.
I have also SOLOed every other AT in this game.

There is NEVER a POINT in this game, that you are forced to team.

Level 51 requires team mates, and you all have to be high too. That way everybody is happy to finally discover level 51. You do have to be on at least your third joint to find it though.

CoH handles team vs. solo right... the way every other game ought to. You can always solo, but teaming is far more fun!

I can mostly solo some archetypes (unless I have designed the characters to concentrate on supporting roles) from 1 to 50.

Some missions may have to be on Heroic. Some Elite Bosses in specific story arcs may indeed be too tough - Nosferatu is notoriously tough to take. Teaming up, dropping the mission, or waiting to get a level or so on the enemy are the solutions that work for me.

But you can effectively solo most content at all levels.

Of course, getting fair warning on those is moot when the contact won't give you any other missions until after you do that forced optional teaming mission. (and yes, I have had this happen before. Contact would not let me begin his story arc until after I had done the click multiple glowies mission.)

With the exception of a few, now rarer, simultaneous disarm bombs missions and a few really pesky AV/EBs, pretty much all the way to 50.

One other point where you can no longer go it alone is that point where you find yourself actually getting bored with soloing, and feel the urge to unhide from searches.
