Now, if you ARE going to nuke a bunch, and you are keen on the Dark Pit, consider taking the dark epic. You get the AoE stun aura (Oppressive gloom) which WILL stack with Dark Pit. You get Dark consumption for recovering end AFTER the nuke and you get Soul Drain for +acc and +dam before the nuke... This means you can Tenebrous them in place, drop the freezing rain, run in and stun them with aura, throw soul drain as build up, dark pit to be SURE that they are still stunned post nuke, blackstar, take a blue, dark consumption, clean up the pitiful remains... :-)
Wow, I was planning on going with Psychic for my S/D's epic, but this does sound fun...
  2. I would skip Moonbeam entirely, but I'm just not a big fan of snipes. Dark / Storm is all about AoE damage (Rain - Tentacles - NightFall). For single target damage you can cycle Dark Blast and Gloom faster than a Moonbeam shot without the annoying interruptable time of the snipe. If you have the vet rewards then NemiStaff/DarkWand add an extra bit of single target punch, the -Def of Freezing Rain helps with their low accuracy.

    hey guys

Back in the early days/beta of Ultima Online, the arrows had very slow flight speeds so you could be "chased" by an arrow very far. The "to-hit" roll was determined the instant the arrow was fired but the damage was not applied until it hit it's target.

We used to call it the "Heat Seeking Arrow"
  4. Tip for matching colors: write down the X-Y location in the color chooser! (it is just a grid, after all)
  5. You can solo all the way to 50. Some AT/build combos may solo slower than others...
  6. Quick question:

Was there ever a "redraw" delay from the Stone Mallet powers? (like using a Broadsword, Axe, etc. power without the weapon drawn)

    Earth/Ice?

After looking at /Ice a little closer I realized it has the "sword" attacks, which did not fit my original character concept I'll either try to come up with another concept or maybe go with Earth/Fire

    Earth/Ice?

I'm thinking of making an Earth/Ice when i15 comes out. Partially for thematic reasons but I also like the idea of alternating between Stalagmites and Earthquake for "every fight" AoE control / alpha breaking.

    Any advice?
  9. I may pull my Mind/Psi out of retirement and get him to 20 finally as well as start an Earth/Ice.

Typical Victory Vent conversation between Guys.

    "someone has logged in"
    player 1- "hey"
    Player 2 - "hey"

    hours pass.....

Player 1- "yawn..dude I need sleep catch ya later."
Player 2- "..." has already gone to bed and player 1 didn't even notice.

That sounds like the "Victory Forum" global channel lately... (at least in the evening Pacific time)
  11. IIRC the first level 40 (max level when CoH first released) was a AR/Dev blaster and did it in about a week. He took advantage of a couple "features" in the early game:

    1) No max AoE targets
    2) Caltops could reduce mob speed to 0
    3) Not all mobs had ranged attacks
    4) Smoke Grenade's -toHit was 100%, not 10%

Soo... round up a bunch of mobs w/o ranged attacks, debuff the to-hit so they can't touch you, lure them into a immobilizing caltop trap, let loose with Full-Auto and Flamethrower, profit!
  12. (QR)

I miss the EQ style "damage shields" that did damage every time the shielded player was hit by a melee attack. The PBAoE damage auras in melee sets kind of give this effect...
  13. [quick "devil's advocate" reply]

Often when playing my Dark defender I'll hit Twilight Grasp before damage is applied knowing that the animation time takes a few seconds. Damage is delt, followed very shortly with the heal from TG.

Oh wait, I'm usually doing that against an AV to further debuff it's to-hit and dmg.. ;-)
  14. My D/E was more concept (army of fluffy/sparky pets, before the "only one pet" change) than made to be a Sapper. With Dark's acc debuffs I don't even try to sap endurance since the mobs can't hit me when they can attack.

For my solo build I like having both AoE attacks (Ball and Short Circuit) slotted for damage. Since they can't hit me I can be in PBAoE range rather safely. Add some +dmg set bonuses or procs in the AoE's if you want to boost damage a bit more.

    Enemy weaknesses

My Storm/Dark defender was very sad when it out leveled Croatoa, pretty much everything there is vulnerable to Dark

Whats nice is it means as you get higher and get things slotted up that you can jump into a spawn and start wailing on the boss and by the time they go down, the minions are pretty much dead too. This is not only an End saver but a time saver as well. And the larger the teams you favor, the more efficient this is.

    QFT.

They are also great for doin that last sliver of damage to KO a target, saving you from using endurance on a bigger attack.

Druid and get around with shear speed and teleports. I loved traveling in EQ more than any other game. Invisibility also helped any caster travel. So much to see and do regardless of level.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It was all about Bard-speed Aside from the bloody boats I could get anywhere in EQ in no time, plus I learned the layout of the world pretty well. Perhaps that's why I love Travel Powers in CoH so much...

    Issue 13: BUGS

    Costume Save feature, Shields

    Server: costume creator (any server)
    Zone: n/a
    Character name: new character
    Time: n/a
    Location: Costume Creator / Tutorial
    Mission: n/a
    Mission Contact: n/a
Bug Description: After saving a costume, the Shield option defaults back to "round shield"

I made a new character with the Shield powerset and selected the Elemental -> Electric shield. Saved the costume with the new feature, then entered the game. Once loaded in the tutorial my character's shield was the basic "Round" shield.

    To duplicate:
    Select Elemental -> Electric shield
    Save costume
upon returning to the Costume Creator, your shield will now be a "Round Shield".
  19. Agreed, if the mobs are in melee range and not oversized it's almost too easy to get 2 in a Shadow Maul. Just target the one in the back, line up the front one between you and the target.. and enjoy the pile of orange numbers flying up. To me it's a fun challenge that adds an element of skill to using a powerful attack.
