At what level can you no longer do missions alone?

Dark/dark.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't imagine the dark primary pumps out the damage, but the dark secondary absolutely has the tools you need to solo tough enemies.
Swallow a bunch of reds, drop Tar Patch, fire up Darkest Night if you can afford the end hit (I like to put it on a nearby lieutenant) and go to town.
This will work.

You think I'm ignorant of my debuffs? I use them frequently. It still doesn't work 100% of the time. 95% yeah, but not always.

I leveled a fire/dark to 50 and never encountered an enemy I couldn't melt.
Dark does less damage than fire, but that's why God invented reds.
Your powers aren't too weak. The enemies aren't too strong.
Your problem lies in another area entirely.

I'd say you're just being contrary to be contrary.
No, I'm pretty sure that he's absolutely right. If you're struggling, it's not your powerset. Try different tactics, use more/different insps, whatever it takes.
Also, you keep slinging this contrariness thing around. It's not contrariness when your experience stands alone against the experience of many others. It's an indication that you are doing something wrong, especially in an environment so predictable as this game. If most folks have no issues with dark/dark, and you do, that means it's not them mucking it up.
edit: if my "weakest" defenders (ff/rad and emp/arch) can solo EBs, then for the love of pete, any corruptor can.

Or, to put it another way, you're too NuclearToasty.
Yeah, I can't solo. I constant surprise people with how badly I play this game. Well, any game, really.

Snag a shivan
[/ QUOTE ]
Until they put the ability to get a Shivan in a non-PvP zone, snagging one isn't an option.
[/ QUOTE ]
Bloody Bay is a PVP zone?
[/ QUOTE ]
Last time I went into it, having been cajoled into it by a team with the promise of PvE missions, I got snagged by TP Foe shortly after zoning in and nearly ganked by another player. So, yes, definitely a PvP zone. Though it may be practically deserted these days, I won't chance it.

LOL.
Because getting your pixels killed by someone elses pixels is the end of the World?
Eff that. Go gets you your shivans. so what if you get ganked a few times.
Trust me the Sun shall still rise.

While there are a few characters on my stupidly long roster that I'd have to dial back the difficulty on, I'm pretty sure that any of them can solo any mission they're given (multi-glowies side). In a few rare cases, that might mean running on Heroic/Villainous, but those are specialty builds that are never intended to solo.
On the other side of the coin, I have a handful of characters that invariably solo on Invincible/Relentless. Most of them, in fact...although only a small handful can go after AVs by themselves (w/o Shivans and Nukes, that is). When the rest encounter a mission that will spawn an AV they can't deal with, I either get a team or scale back the difficulty a notch so it spawns as an EB or Boss.

It's almost as if you're deliberately trying to misunderstand few EBs as ALL EBs. I should slap you.

The aforementioned defs have never had trouble soloing any EB. I'm saying that your corruptor shouldn't either. If it makes you want to slap me that you are an unskilled player, that's fine, and I am glad that you and I won't ever be in the same room. Are you this petulant in real life, or do you need the anonymity of the internet to give you the courage to be juvenile?
60 at that point you battle Mecha Godzilla and really do need that Japanese Army backing you up. LOL No seriously it depends on the AT, their power choices, and how you slotted but as mentioned any AT can solo on heroic to level 50. I have some Defenders that I designed as Team Support and they'd solo so slow I just don't do it. But I have taken Controllers, Tanks, Scrapper, and even Blasters to 50 level and was still soloing effctively the whole way. Can get more interesting and a little more challenging but develop the right strategies and you can take any AT to 50 and still solo along the way.

And you clearly never fought Spinnerette. She heals up as quickly as you damage her.

I have. Many times. With two brutes, a soldier, a widow, and a dom. Won every time.

Try it on a corruptor, then. It was absurdly ridiculous seeing the damage I just dealt instantly heal.

Kadabra Kill is even worse, because he does the same constant healing while planting binds on you while he and his godawful singularity can hit you with impunity. You can only carry so many break free inspirations before realizing you need backup when facing that terror.

I'm sorry, but simply put you need to learn to play better if you can't beat these NPCs as EBs solo.

And I think you need to be less contrary for contrarian's sake.

While it's bad form to necro this, I just wanted to note that I recently ran my Fire/Pain Corruptor over Kadabra Kill. Had to chew a couple of inspirations (because the bastid had help from the Lost he was fighting) but it wasn't difficult at all to take him down.
The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

Actually, Kadabra Kill cons as "Hero" whenever I fight him.
[/ QUOTE ]
I mowed him last night with a mace/invulnerable brute slotted with a mix of level 15 & 20 generic IOs and he didn't seem particularly imposing.
I also took him out a few weeks back with my ninja blade/willpower stalker, which was a much larger challenge and necessitated burning some inspirations.
Both on the second difficulty level.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've faced him a few times recently, and I only really had problems with him the second time you face him in the arc.
On my Merc/Poison he was a Hero, accompanied by a Lost Boss (I was on either setting 2 or 3). I tried a few times, but could never even drop the Lost (Kadabra would just heal him). My henchmen just didn't last long enough to be able to make headway. Ended up dropping the mission.
On my Plant/Thorns, I know I was only on Villainous. The first time I approached him I might have had a chance with Domination up, but I blew it. Without it I felt like I didn't have much of a shot - level 18 facing a guy who summons a Singy...not fun. Maybe I could have rigged it to build domination outside the mission and pop a lot of purples...but after running back from the hospital three times already it just wasn't worth it. I wasn't going to bother getting a Shivan just for that fight, either.
edit: forgot my Mace/Sheild Brute. I *think* he's faced Kill as well, and didn't have a problem with him.
THAT SAID...the game is extremely soloable most of the time. I've taken Scrapper, Tanker, Controller, Controller, Blaster, Corruptor, Blaster to 50. Mastermind soon to follow. The only one which teamed a bit was the first Controller, and that wasn't all that much.
Defenders...not so sure I'd *want* to solo them, outside of a few combos. My Emp/Psi doesn't solo well, at least not how she's built. I've a Sonic/Sonic that is stuck on level 10 (my guess is she'd improve down the line). Other combos would be a lot more viable.
