dude. you will now need to turn in your man card.

agreeing to watch either of those movies, much less both, means your estrogen levels are way way too high.

I recommend quickly eating something wrapped in bacon, and guzzling about a pint of jack daniels. This cure will not erase the bad decisions youve made about how you treat your eyes or your valuable time, but will set you back on the path to righteousness.

You may still need to gouge out both eyes with a rusty screwdriver, but it will probably be worth it if it saves you from ever witnessing something so ballshrinkingly terrible again.

I honestly cant understand why other guys think they need to sit through this crapola with their women... isnt that what their girlfriends are for?

Not a rant about the game itself, but anything that's as repetetive as CoX content is will get stale and boring after 5 years.

    I had a similar experience.

Been loggin in lately and realizing I dont really want to do anything in game, so i scroll through my toons and switch up day job locations and thats about it.

Decided its time for a short break until GR, since theres really nothing new going on this issue, since DP preorder did not interest me.

The last couple months have been me paying so i can troll the forums... probably not the best money spent.

So in total during Double XP i got one level from 18-19 on a new scrapper from running one mission with double xp/full patrol xp. Not exactly blazing a trail of glory through the game nowdays...

So I am going to let this sub run out, and re sub in a couple months when GR releases.

See you then. Please keep the place clean and feed the fish while Im away.

p.s. how do I change ammos?

    Awesome.

Would have scored a few more points for mentioning how hard it is to purple your new DP because of all the jerk hackers and flippers. The three hours due to the AE nerf was a nice touch. Well played.

I used to get into the closed betas when I played 6 hours a day... when my playtime went down the invites stopped coming.

I think they use a few criteria- time in game, time subscribed, past feedback, etc. If you let your sub lapse, you probably lose the time subscribed inroad, if you stop playing the game as much, you probably drop off the list for that too, and if you don't provide feedback in the betas you get into, you likely lose beta invite status as well.

If you have never been invited to a closed beta, you probably do not meet the minimums in one or more of the criteria categories.

My time is just too much in demand these days to participate in the game itself...much less the betas... so I wouldn't be able to accept even if I was invited now, unless they can beat the offer my current employer is paying me for my time.

Betas are interesting and all, but ultimately its just a company trying to get free work out of you.

The problem is that the casual player doesn't know how to do this. They don't have the hundreds -- nay, thousands -- of hours of experience that you have in the best way to accomplish every aspect of this game.

You have to realize that something we think of as trivial is totally opaque to the majority of players out there. The early game steers everyone down the SO road, and IO mechanics are very confusing to most people. And if you don't have Mids, figuring out how to build a character with IO sets is a major project.

So, us telling them that this is actually very easy to do doesn't really help them -- they'll need to spend the hundreds of hours themselves getting familiar with the system to learn all the things you know. And in this instant gratification universe, that's a message that doesn't go over well.

    This is a good point.

Take a player who starts the game fresh and plop him/her into the CoH world and say "GO!", and it will take them a heck of a lot longer, with a lot of exploring/trial and error/what do I do now? moments along the way.

Knowing what to do and when to do it are huge advantages that a new or truly casual player wont have, because they will be experiencing content, and generally wasting a lot of time where a experienced player will just skip to the meat of xp/influ/merit gaining.

So its truly hard to define what a casual player is... theres too wide a range of variables - are they new? Do they have a mentor in game to show them stuff? Someone to walk them through the market interface? Experience with Mids planner?

So what took you a hundred or so hours and made you 300M plus a full IO loadout might take a brand new "casual" player a year, because they need to learn so much you already know.

But in general I do agree with the sentiment of the OP- which is: stop crying that you cant purple your ******* warshade... you can make plenty of influ and have all the stuff you need by 50 if you just chill out play the game, and sell uneeded drops. How long it takes will be quite variable, but the end results should be close enough- everyone can have nice things if they work a little for them.

It's also been that way for years. I very intentionally build taking advantage of that effect. The endurance use on my hyper-expensive Katana/Dark is carefully tuned, and still just under what it should be. I still have to slow down slightly occasionally in long fights. I don't have the Numina in Physical Perfection (it's in a full set in Health), but I do have the Miracle. I assume that's next. And although we're only talking about a difference of 0.17 EPS, that spells doom for Scrapper challenge play, so it'd be time for an overhaul or retirement. I HATE overhauls. I also hate retiring a character after only having them up and running at full strength for a single issue. No, I'm not quitting over this. I realize that it's a basically trivial change that just happens to impact me significantly. But it definitely goes in the "I'm getting tired of CoH; maybe it's time to move on" column of my life.

    I feel the same way.

Nerfing something thats really not breaking anything in game, or really doing much of anything exept improving play for a character who is end game slotted seems like a waste of dev resource and only serves to annoy the playerbase.

Annoying a already small playerbase never seems like a good business model for a game that is competing with many other time sinks for players time- people tend to move on due to "the straw that broke the camels back" effect.

So the short version is devs: fix the stuff we ask you to fix. Dont go on crusades against HOs, or fix "bugs" that really arent hurting anyone, and in fact make many players game time more fun. Fix the stuff that really needs fixing, and spend your development time wisely.

I am not a I quit!!11!! type either, but the additive effect of too many changes (read: nerfs) is a real turnoff to me putting what limited time I do have into playing this game instead of something else.

The respec system is awful, and when I am forced to respec each issue/patch it takes away from me enjoying actual gameplay, and worse yet, I know that I will just have a few months to use the newly respecced build before something else is changed and I have to do it all over again...

Each patch is like a scheduled root canal to me. Not something I look forward to.

Also, the devs themselves may not have picked up on this until it started popping up on the forums more, which again started with the introduction Phys. Perfection.

TP is still rough to use as primary travel.

    Minions? really?

They are all dead in two button pushes with my blaster, so they would never reach me to be in the aura. If you are worried in any way about minions on a blaster...you are doing it wrong.

Now if it worked on bosses or Lts, or even had a chance to confuse them for a few seconds it might be of some use, but as it stands a mag 2 confuse just aint useful.

Like I said before, the proc in the purple set is actually more useful then the aura itself, you are much better off just killing the mobs quickly and moving on.

The most use I have gotten out of this power is running into the middle of a large spawn while stealthed with SS/stealth IO, then going afk and talking on the phone while the minions beat each other up a little at a time for my amusement.

So if you are looking for a jokey fun power, or a set mule its not too bad, but if you really are trying to use it for damage or mitigation, its not too good.
  18. Teleport: Anywhere in game.

Teleport is such a cool power, but to use it as your primary travel power sure is tricky...

And inefficient for the most part.

I wish they had a jaunt TP for combat ports that you could use through walls and around corners... then I might take TP once in a while.

As it stands I have something like 20 superspeeders, 2-3 flyers, and 0 TPers. Its just too much of a hassle to use and it doesnt have hasten as its pre-req pick

    Do you like capped run?

    Do you like capped jump?

Then you will like NR+ Inertial reduction + siphon speed.

Throw hover or fly in there and you can cap all three move types. Maybe not capped with hover, but pretty damn fast with 2-3 siphons.

And yeah, the ninja flipping is just the icing on the cake.

I think you will be very happy.

And as for the overkill comments upthread, I agree- there is no such thing as overkill since we really dont know how much pull we need to power all of the ultra mode features at full settings.

Cant go too far wrong with a good case/cooling system, nice power supply, and good Motherboard, then upgrade as needed for your vid card, or hard drive.

Im not sure the i7 is really necessary either, but I went with one and overclocked to 3.75Ghz which is screamingly fast now, and hopefully stands the test of time fairly well.

Load times with a 7200RPM drive are still just around 6 secs. Sure beats the 30 sec-1 minute loads I was suffering through on my old machine... my "speed" Posi's were less speed and more wait...

They say patience is a virtue, and after a couple years of slow loads I feel like a saint.
  21. The only reason to take it is to mule the purple confuse set.

    Then never turn it on.

    Its that bad.

I think the proc from the confuse set is actually more useful then the aura itself anyways...

I run a very similar machine as of last week, and all I can say is...yes. You will be happy.

I have the exact same processor, same memory specs, 1000W Power supply, the only significant difference I see is the drive I have is only a 7200 RPM 1TB drive, and a 285GTX card.

It is total and complete overkill for CoH. Max out your settings and enjoy your 5 second load times between zones

    Cant wait for ultra mode...
