I'm not in the mood to go digging up any specific comments on past articles, but there are always numerous people who think that the game is stagnant because the level cap is still level 50 after several years... *sighs*
There's also the occassional poster on these boards that PLs to 50 and then wonders where all the content is.

Okay I've got one thats one of my crowning moments of stupid. Back when independence day was first coming out I watched the movie. The scene where the Will Smith was dragging the alien through the desert and was pissed off and said similar to "blah blah with you dreadlocks hanging out the back... and what the hell is that smell? /emote rage." I thought that the tentacles the alien had were called dreadlocks. So later on that year a conversation with my friends came up where I mentioned that I wanted dreadlocks like the alien in independence day. I moved to another town before I lived that one down.

I had a student in one of my classes, a woman in her thirties. She had become absolutely ADDICTED to World of Warcraft. And I mean literally so. She and her husband had gotten into the game, bought twin computers so they could play together, and then proceeded to do NOTHING ELSE for the next year. They played eighteen hours a day (more if their energy drinks would keep them going). They both quit their jobs, then went through all their savings paying for only their "necessities": game subscription, food, and electricity. Next they had to start selling their furniture a piece at a time, everything except their computer chairs, and took to sleeping on the floor.
Eventually the guy ended up meeting another female WoW player online, went to meet her in person, and cheated on his wife.
The wife, in turn, figured it was then OK for her to do the same, took up with a teen-ager she ALSO met in the game, and left her husband. She STILL plays every waking moment she's not in class, now with her new "man."
Now, here's the kicker: when I mentioned to her my connection to CoH, she said "City of Heroes? I tried it, but didn't care for the other players. Those people are CRAZY."

I suppose the split up marriage is understandable but seriously to devote that much time to an MMO is just sad regardless of which one it is. I used to play WoW for several hours a day and will admit to having taken vacation days because I'd have rather been doing that... but seriously 18 hours? quitting a job? ummm no lol

Unfortunately, the anger and hatred is due to the alchemy of two phenomena interacting:
(1) Human beings easily fall into group-think and mob mentality. As George Carlin said, "People are okay in ones and twos. After that they tend to choose up sides and start wearing arm bands."
(2) The internet, because of its relative anonymity and its ability to allow you to voice your opinion everywhere from right there in your own home, often brings out the worst in folks. If the trolls we encounter had to make their thoughts known in a crowded room, 95% of them would instead skulk back to their parents' basement and resume cataloging celebrity nipple shots.

Although, when it comes to borrowing ideas, CO is in the weaker position - CoH is a stable, content-hevay game with a steady population, so a lot fo the hard work has already been done, and they can spend more time on cherry-picking the better CO ideas to use here, but CO still needs most of it's time spent on stabilizing the game, fleshing out the content, and retaining their subs, so they have less time to add new features.

Let's make this a topic: What's the stupidest thing you've heard or said related to City of Heroes? I'm not talking opinions. Things like this that they just don't understand.
I'll open with me and the fact that when I first joined here I suggested that all powers have a custom look based on their origin. I was unaware that this would essentially be creating every single power all over again 5 freaking times. And also that this idea was dumb.
