This is what I currently have and it gives me 76.25% recharge (not considering hasten) I have permadom as long as I don't miss hitting hasten as soon as it recharges (I leave domination on auto) any suggestions as to where I can get more recharge?

Quote:I was thinking probably traps but undecided so far, but FF is another I hadn't thought about. Thanks! What secondaries are you looking into? Any MM can tackle regular content but Im always trying to make up for weakness in each set.
Mercs really benefit from secondaries that play better at range(dark, storm, and force fields come to mind and in that order as well). But if you go bubbler I highly suggest picking up the medicine pool b/c the medic's heal is 'meh' and unreliable.
Other good choices would be traps, pain, or time. -
Quote:This is going to be mostly for concept so I suppose I'll just deal with being less awesome. Thanks for the input!!!Demons and Mercs are different in several ways. The demons have various types of damage (be it fire, cold, etc) while the mercs dole out primarily lethal damage. Also, mercs tend to stay ranged while demons have more melee capabilities. IMO mercs are the underpowered pets in the MM sets. I like them for concept, but if you are just trying to make a beastly MM, mercs is probably not your best option.

I only played the game for about 6 months and only recently came back. I forgot that while most of the community here is helpful there are still people who will go the extra mile and forget about their own flaws to point out someone else's without actually being helpful.
I'm just glad you aren't part of the majority as it is in most MMOs. -
I recently got my demon mm to lvl25 and had an idea for a new mm using mercs... but from watching others play it appears to be only a difference of aesthetics. What am I missing?

So I slotted one of my lower lvl toons w/ karma last night but he was still get getting knocked around. I also got a drop for a recipe kb IO that can be slotted to any travel power (can't remeber the name). Does the travel power I slot it to have to be active for the kb protection?

Thank you Tormentoso, what I failed to mention is that I play with a razer naga. So while that helps with the targetting I was hoping for a way to set up some sort of macro system to stream line it a bit. Mouseover macros would be awesome but I don't know if coh supports that. If not I'll figure something out but my bigger concern at this point is tracking who i've put what buff on. The icons are sometimes difficult to differentiate.
-
Took me awhile but I finally found a defender I like playing enough to want to keep playing him but I feel like I'm only so so if that. I have a a hard time tracking buffs and having to click on your target is a pain, any tips?
-
So from what i've read/heard regen sucks... I'm wondering if it's more that people don't like it because it's not as easy as turning on a bunch of toggles then just facerolling your attack keys. I'd like to find out for myself and I'm curious to hear from those that DO like it what their preferred primary for it is.
-
So I get a claws/DA character all ready to go and I make him a stalker because cliche as it is he's a Vampire (love the halloween set) and it just made sense... but then I realized I don't really know the difference between a scrapper and a stalker other than back before I stopped playing for awhile one was redside the other blue. So my question, is there a difference other than playstyle?
Also, are there any reasons that those powersets are better suited for one over the other? -
Quote:True. Plus I'm sure buying it piece by piece is ridiculously more expensive in the long run. Aaaaand we are approaching xmas so maybe an early gift is in orderof course buying a copy of something like GR will also get you the bonuses such as alignment system and praetorians as well as the 1 month free
Anywho, thanks all!

Don't get me wrong, I intend to. But as a comic geek and former wow player he was pretty stoked at the concept of player created content.
One other question, if he decides to pay he has to actually buy the game but will still get 30 days free right? -
That's a bummer but thanks
I'll just have to nudge him towards paying lol
-
So I finally got a friend of mine to check out CoH. The fact that it's free now doesn't hurt
but when I showed him ae and we went through a mish he wasn't getting xp... at all. Someone in help chat said you can buy a 30 day pass. So I tried to walk him through the store but the only thing that came up to buy were mish slots. What am I missing?

Want NAOH!!!
When I first learned that I could change the animation for ground punch I was very disheartened at the lack of a "random" option. -
/signed
I'm seeing more and more suggestions that boil down to one thing... a more "random" environment which I've said repeatedly this game needs... let's hope the devs are paying attention. -
"I love this plan, I'm excited to be a part of it!"

Quote:I have another complaint to lodge actually.
The only things my hero can do are stop crimes.
... ... ...
Ok, yeah, that sounds silly. But hear me out!
Heroes DO do other things. They stop natrual disasters, for one. Other disasters too. Not everything has to be about stoping kiddnapings.
Lets see some "Disaster contacts" that hand out tough missions with time limits on them. Lets save people from burning buildings(Ideally carring them out, which should be an option for all rescue/kiddnap missions). And stop/avert floods. Catch falling planes. Stop an erupting volcano.
You could add multiple ways for it to be acomplished. Not everyone can just catch the plane.
And by the same token. I'd like my villains to be more proactive in the same way. Cause dissasters and such. Hey, maybe they could even be competitive. Inditect PvP where villains can cause dissasters on the hero side that heroes can fix. Similar to the LGTF causing Rikti invasions.
...*cough*
*scurries off*
Definitely a fan of some of the ideas mentioned here... sadly I doubt we'll ever see anything close to them.
I'm still planning to purchase GR but I doubt it's going to have the amount of change I want to get me as "into" the game as I once was. This game is awesome and I am stoked for the upcoming double xp weekend but I've always had a feeling of something missing that I never felt in WoW. There's so much potential for some really cool things to happen (especially regarding PvP) and it seems the majority of the population is just too casual to want a real challenge, that's not meant as a dig on anyone... that's just the way the game's set up, it's an action game that you can play with a large group of people. -
Quote:This ^ I've been playing for less than a year and I'm relatively bored. I still love the toons that I have but playing them through the same scenarios over and over is boring as can be especially given the lack of challenge. It can be argued that all MMOs are easy... but CoX takes it to a whole new lvl.Repetative content is repetative.
Tieing with this is the lack of "unknowns". Before any fight I can calculate in my head the probabilty of suiccess. It's almost like I know too much about the game and its mobs. Not the devs fault, but I think I'm just getting bored with the game.
I miss the mystery in the game...Sometimes I..I think I want to start seeing other MMOs.
Quote:- Abandonment of even the pretense of game balance with the new difficulty settings
- Static world and abandonment of storylines; granted that many of them should be abandoned thanks to....
- ...poor writing. Yes, there are a few rubies in the mountain of rocks but it seems that every time the devs deign to add new content, they dump more rocks on the pile. The new expansion takes a long-awaited feature and ties it to one of the least imaginative plot devices in comics history: the goatee universe (and please, do not insult my intelligence by claiming "it's not a goatee universe")
- The market is a wretched hive of scum and villainy, and those are its good points; horrid implementation broke in all the ways anyone with a grade-school education in economics predicted and it's not going to be fixed
- Gameplay feels slow and dated compared to the competition
...just for starters, off the top of my head, and in no particular order. -
Quote:Okay, I read your post, but I'm not going to read the rest of the thread, so this is probably duplicatory.
NO.
One of the reasons I play this game is because I can avoid PvP. You open up the regular zones to PvP of any form at all, and I'm gone. Forever. The only way it wouldn't drive me out is if you restricted it so much that there'd be no point to it.
I do not want to have to deal with some pimple-faced weenie who thinks it's fun to camp the train station looking for characters weak enough that he can gank them.
I do not want to have to deal with constant barrages of duel challenges, or ignoring player after player who keeps sending me tells telling (not asking, DEMANDING) that I turn on my PvP flag so they can fight me.
I do not want to see the whining and moaning in the forums about how no-one will fight them in the new, world-wide PvP.
This is not a PVP game. If you think having World PvP will get you more opponents, you're wrong. The people who want to PvP already do so. Those who don't, don't want to. You make it harder for them to avoid, and all you'll do is drive many of them away.
DO. NOT. WANT.
I get that PvP isn't really wanted here... but those with this view confuse me... what experiences have you had that make you think it would be THAT bad? I played WoW and Aion and never once had any of the experiences described when people whine about getting ganked or griefing. I'm sure it happens but I think it's being over exaggerated here. -
Quote:Having leveled two toons to 80 in WoW I have to agree with this to a degree. The only reason it seems to take longer is if you get into leveling professions along the way. The xp return from soloing is greater and teaming and doing dungeons is even better still not to mention the ridiculous amount you get for quests.WoW's grind is a lot, lot shorter than the average character's grind in Cities, actually, and with the Dungeon Finder, teams pop up a lot more frequently..
I wouldn't say it's a LOT shorter if at all... honestly I'd say they're about even. -
Quote:I'm going to play devil's advocate here and point out something that was said to me when I first started and that I see in any "new player here" thread. "This game is all about the journey not the destination"... the journey is awesome... what's wrong with making it longer?
Not to mention, raising the level cap only increases grind time, not fun. Outward expansion, in variety of story arcs, missions and zones is the key. Upward expansion, through raising the level cap, is only a means to keep players reaching toward that carrot at the end of the stick.
Quote:Sadly this is a way over the top casual game, casual players dont want the challenge.
I'm starting to notice this and it's very disheartening. I've gave CO a try because people say it's a combination of CoX and WoW and I love both games but it definitely falls short in too many areas for the time being. This is one of the best MMOs I've ever played but it definitely lacks in challenge... I basically view it as a really cool action game that I can play with a lot of people. I joined a team that was killing a few AVs one day and thought "man this is gonna be awesome" the only difference I saw in the AVs compared to the other enemies with similar powers was that they hit harder and had more hp... which doesn't make it harder... it just makes it take longer to kill them... that's not fun. -
Quote:Personally, I wouldn't look for the same kind of "immersive" content a single-player game takes you through. Those games are largely scripted and rely on predictable player paths, mood music, scripted dialogues, cutscenes, briefings and so on. They're also usually 10-20 hours long. An MMO in general is going to have a much more loose interpretation of immersion and will basically tell you a story for your character to play through, which you have to read. There's no way around that.
Not in CoH but this is one of the things that I'm looking forward to seeing in the new Star Wars MMO, Spring 2011 can't get here soon enough! All interaction is going to be done with voice acting along with text if you'd prefer to read.
Obviously if you're not into Star Wars or at least sci-fi it may not appeal to you but after trying SWG and not caring for it I'm really hoping Bioware pulls it off right.
I think I know what the OP is saying though and I agree, I love this game (although I've not played for a week or so while playing other games) but there's definitely something missing... call it immersive content or whatever you want to... personally I think it's challenge. Knowing who Kel'thuzad is in WoW was optional... however if you played through WCIII or new where to find the lore otherwise it was there. The difference is that he and any other endgame boss in WoW presented a unique challenge instead of just being a tougher version of the trash mobs you blew through to get to him with a different skin.
As far as the story I've seen plenty of people on these forums talk poorly of the lack of story driven content in WoW... it's there... it's just that most of the 11 million people playing it don't bother looking into it. The ease in which you can pick up and play WoW appeals to most but to really get into it you have to have played through WCIII IMO.
