Claws/DA scrapper or stalker?

So I get a claws/DA character all ready to go and I make him a stalker because cliche as it is he's a Vampire (love the halloween set) and it just made sense... but then I realized I don't really know the difference between a scrapper and a stalker other than back before I stopped playing for awhile one was redside the other blue. So my question, is there a difference other than playstyle?

Also, are there any reasons that those powersets are better suited for one over the other?

A lot of people will say that whatever a stalker can do, a scrapper can do better. Sadly, they are mostly right. I personally love stalkers and a claws/DA is not that bad of a build. Claws has good recharge and dark armor has good resists. So that means you can focus on defense sets from IO's and be very formidable.

I like Stalkers, but I don't think I'd play a resist based set for a number of reasons, anemic hit points chief among them. For Claws/DA, I'd actually go with a brute, although a scrapper would do pretty well.

They ALL float down here. When you're down here with us, you'll float too!

I for one love res type secondaries, because it's easier to softcap defense with set bonuses than res. Just made a quick /DA build and was able to get a well balanced res and softcapped def build.

Course, this is just me. A lot of stalker players like to go for regen, recharge and defense and call it a day.

this.
I love scrappers, but claws is so great on a brute ! (just for spin ...)

English isn't my birth language, so don't blame me if I do some mistakes. thank you !

A claws/DA stalker misses such neat things such as Follow-Up, Spin, Death Shroud, and the HP to make the resists work even better. On the other hand, you still have Focus, Eviscerate, Shockwave, Dark Regen, Soul Transfer, and the ability to pick 'n choose your crits with Hide and Placate.

You won't be the whirling dervish of destruction a claws scrap or brute would be, but is that how you see your vampire? Or do you want to be the guy popping in and out of the shadows before taking a bite- er- swipe?
