You are correct, regen sucks if you suck at regen.
Anything with good mitigation will work well (Axe, Mace, BS, Street Justice, Stone, and SS immediately come to mind). PleaseRecycle pretty much hit the nail on the head regarding regen. You need to be good at actually playing the set.

So from what i've read/heard regen sucks... I'm wondering if it's more that people don't like it because it's not as easy as turning on a bunch of toggles then just facerolling your attack keys. I'd like to find out for myself and I'm curious to hear from those that DO like it what their preferred primary for it is.
