Self-destruct should have totally come with this pack.

Yes, I hit it by accident last night.

[/ QUOTE ]

While I have always thought self-destruct was thematically cool, I kind of wish it would get taken away from confirmed griefers as punishment. I'm willing to bet self-destruct has been activated in Atlas Plaza more than any other location...and I think every one of of them was activated directly between me and whomever I might be taking to at any given time.

I also kind of hate self-destruct because it likely means we will never get turbans in the game because someone, somewhere will get up to some jackassery with the combination. This is why I hate rotten apples analogies and providing service with the least common denominator in front of mind. It seems like MMOs always jump on the potential abuse angles first.

Don't get me wrong...I'm glad the power came with the booster back. I just have a love/hate relationship with it.

Can the Natural Booster pack include a Rogue Spy epic AT with Dual pistols? I'll pay $9.99 for that. Thanks.

Clearly, if you do something like that, you have to be creative about it. Like my immortal Mesopotamian who is a member of PPD named "Captain Hamurabi" whose bio mentions that he does 'Officer Friendly' type PR under the name Captain Hammer.

If I could stand playing in the Rogue Isles, his Robot MM nemesis Professor Plagiarist might still be around.

How do you grief with Self Destruct? It doesn't hit friendly targets.

Intentionally and repeatedly annoying people with power effects is technically griefing though I admit that people's definitions of the word do differ. It falls into that category for me but you (and NC Soft) may see it differently.

Agreed. Pink capes should be petitionable too.

I've used the self-destruct power as a cool way to end sewer runs, or when I was about to die anyway. So far, I think the funniest use of it was when I had my Brooklyn Bridge toon out. Yes, I made a character based off of the Brooklyn Bridge. One day I popped self-destruct and as the countdown progressed, he screamed "I..am...LEGEND!!" right before he blew his stack.
If anyone's seen that movie, I'm sure they remember what happened to Brooklyn Bridge on-screen.

As for the turban costume part and self-destruct power, I remember a long thread about that right after it came out. Somebody had an idea for a terrorist villain and wanted to know if screaming "Allah Akhbar!" while popping off self destruct was a petitionable offense. Needless to say, the idea did NOT go over well, with many posters saying that they would petition such in a heartbeat.

I once used it in the middle of a packed AE and as it counted down I screamed "There's no reason to live! Where's my kayak?!"

But I don't think anyone got he reference.

I disagree. It's nice to have visual clues to identify people I want to avoid (not that pink capes is something I'd avoid per se, but annoyingly bad costumes in general are usually attached to annoyingly bad players).

They all laughed at me when I said I wanted to be a comedian.
But I showed them, and nobody's laughing at me now!

Hmm while I don't house any real objections to having the height/gender changes limited to a paid for pack...

...I'd rather see them given as free to all the players (lets face it, it would turn Issue 15 from a 'meh' issue in most peoples eyes into a 'actually pretty good' issue)...

...AND I recommend replacing it with a perma-version of This power with a 30 minute recharge timer...

because come on...everyone loves the vial of bees!

After all...as Vernon says "Here, take more bees with you. You may need them," and need them we shall!

I can't argue against this.

I think everybody's shouted 'Allah Akbar!' while selfdestructing at least once. It's one of those things you can't resist.

I still think it's funny to get a handful of people by the door to the suppression AE room to click SD and click the door so we explode inside the room.

I really don't see the efficiency in griefing with Selfdestruct. It takes a half hour to recharge even when changing your build, and people are more likely to laugh than be annoyed.

or take a character like Rightious

She is traped in her paladin armor, try as i might i could only make her look look "geneder nutral" so much (i wanted her armor to be bulky and knight light and then "form fit" later as she gained control) now she can look like a bulky male knight

Truly, epic lulz. I would be more sympathetic if this stereotype were NOT borne out yet again any time one switches on the evening news. Since it happens every day IRL - and often more than once per day - I'm not seeing where the alleged slur is.

Moral of the story: do stupid stuff IRL, open yourself up for lampooning. I fail to see this as some horrific problem demanding immediate game-master action.

A gameplay bonus I can see is if you end up in tight quarters, like the Blue Cave of Infinite Collisions and Hangup, you can switch your huge character to a tiny character to make it easier to maneuver around.

[/ QUOTE ]
That is exACTly what I thought of right away.

I am a tall person. I prefer tall alts.

But it DOES make a difference in most mishes. It IS easier to maneuver most halls and caves if you are shorter... Not bumping your head exactly, but your field of vision, and how much of other characters you can see viewed around your body. Even if you adjust the camera so you look the same size. It still affects a lot.
Most of my characters are tiny.

I now can make more normal size costumes.
and have one tiny one to run missions.

If I see someone doing something that I consider blatantly offensive and annoying, I add them to my ignore list, give them a one star rating, and make a note that they are an idiot. When I join/form teams, I always check everyone on the team for prior ratings or notes to see if there are an known idiots present. End of problem.

I find most of the time in life it's better to handle situations yourself, rather than running off and tattling to an authority figure.
