The only positive thing is that I know that when I buy a Booster pack it helps for the development costs so that all players may enjoy other content. However, I think that limiting all the very cool emotes and costume pieces to Booster packs will create a have and have-nots segregation for players that is not conducive to the community. Everyone should be able to enjoy high-collars, labcoats and slick Valkyrie armor.

Frankly, I think it hurts the community when these pieces are not available to the general player. New costume pieces create excitement; limiting them just creates resentment.

Very well said. More and more, I feel like I'm playing one of those free-to-play-with-microtransactions MMOs instead of the AAA sub-based MMO I signed up for. The I15 costume pieces compared to the booster pack stuff is a real joke.

They could do what WoW did. Make a gard game, have a rare card with a code to get an item that doesn't really do anything for you but for looks.

Would that make you feel better about it? And WoW has millions of players. Many of them who bought the cards, don't actually play the CCG, but wanted the codes (and certain ones at that)...I know this!

I watched my friends buy them! When I heard about one of them, I was almost tempted to listen to their pleas to join them in WoW. >.> I didn't though! I swear! WoW is sooo boring to me.

I believe they had plans for such a card game actually.
I don't know if it ever got published, I am not much into card games.

I've seen a 'Leeroy Jenkins' card, so I think it did.

There's a Warcraft pen and paper RPG as well (think Dungeons and Dragons), with a WoW expansion.

He meant that CoH had a card game planned. They did publish it, I have a few cards lying around and I think I remember seeing the packs at Target but I doubt it ever took off.

When it's ready? Perhaps, just a tad earlier than that.

my guess is the store is the hangup rather than the pack itself.

no doubt they'd prefer to avoid a repeat of the Magic Pack fiasco.

AEG killed it shortly after the launch of the first expansion, Secret Origins. (Which was never even ANNOUNCED, thank you very much AEG. Way to pull a Prima there, jerks)

I got a bunch of those cards with the CoV Collector's Edition (with the Heroclix figures, also incidentally discontinued). Wonder if they'll be collector's items someday.

Probably not much more that nostalgic value.

I hope the request for two colors on the lab coat isn't what's holding this up. That could be patched in later.

Eh, I doubt it.

IIRC when we got the chance to test the first Booster Packs on the Test server it took some number of weeks before they actually went live. I'm not going to bother trying to predict an exact date for it to drop, but I figure it's going to be at least several more weeks from now, give or take.

Heck for all we know our Devs might decide to wait until September 1st just to have something to throw against Champions Online.

*Cries* Why isn't it out yet?!!

I'd be surprised, and disappointed, if they held it for several more weeks. I kinda figured it could be any day now since they no longer have it on the test server and they said it would be right with i15.

I don't recall any type of open testing for the other booster packs.

The pieces are currently live. But the pack isn't being sold yet. I have no understanding of -why-....

I know they're live because I made 'The Doctor's Wife' on the Test Server and saved the costume. When I tried to load it up the costume had the Rebreather 5 costume piece on it but I was given the warning that I don't have access to that piece, yet. So it allowed me to attempt a costume fix.

My guess is that they are trying to find a way to put it on the store and avoid problems they had with the Magic Booster. Granted I would of thought they would have figured that out before they had the booster ready to be released.

[/ QUOTE ]Yes, they did (assuming "they" is referring to other players, and not the devs who never said anything of the sort).
