going rogue - or just playing the other ATs?

I'm wondering if people are interested in playing in the grey area between heroes and villains - really going rogue.

or do you just want to play an AT from the other side?

I don't care about the rogue part. I just want to play stalkers and masterminds hero side.

Not me. Unless power customization comes about and it allows me to design how I want my MM minions to look, I probably won't even bother using ATs on the other side. But I have absolutely no desire to explore any "gray area" between the two sides. Call me old fashioned, but I like my heroes good and my villains bad, and none of this anti-hero nonsense.

Interested in both.

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

They possibly hinted at tinting projectiles like fireball in the trailer.

Unlikely

It's not like there was a huge division in the game before.

Hero: "You viallins are filth. You fight the Family, Skulls and Crey. You go to a warehouse and beat up everyone there, just because someone told you to."

Villain: "So do you."

Hero: "Yeah well I don't steal. Except for when I stole CoT weapons for Dr. Trevor Seaborn. Anyway, we're SO not alike."

Villain: "Whatever. Hey, want to team up in the RWZ or Comerora later?"

Hero: "...OK."

I've always viewed this game as "shades of grey", anyways. Being a "hero" or a "villain" is a matter of perspective.

I have played them, but I don't like playing in the Rogue Isles.

I have a feeling, though, that switching sides will amount to switching over solely in the mirror universe rther than, say, having a Stalker running around in normal Paragon City with the general hro populace.

I hope your right to some degree, though fear your not based on the mail out.

I am the opposite, I dislike Paragon city and most hero archtypes,
I will realy get anoyed seeing blasters and scrappers villain side.

although picking a new server to play this part on ... well i'll have to see how the mechanics work as i already play heroes on guardian, villans on pinnacle and have both servers full of alts ...
i may have to invest in a few packs of extra slots if they dont include any with the 3rd expansion.

Personally I welcome this entire idea as it allows me to finally bring my red side hero toons (yes, my dom and MM are heroes and RP'd as such) over to Paragon City where they really belong.

I was gonna say, you can't swing a dead catgirl on Virtue without hitting a half-dozen anti-heroes, redside "undercover" heroes, blueside spies, etc. etc. People have been playing at this for quite some time, they just haven't been able to select any AT while doing it.

Or maybe that's just Virtue.

I hope you're wrong and we can have MMs running around normal Paragon City (for example)... having a mirrored city will spread the population out and it may just turn into a ghost town.

Does this mean the markets may finally be combined?

This.

I've always considered Villians a much better game as a game. If you strip away the graphics and the story and just look at the powersets and how they work, the balance is much better in Villians. Every AT has a defensive side and a damage side and they all have thier weeknesses. Where in Heroes you have that tremendous gap between the damage and the protective accross the ATs. While you can improve upon that gulf with IOs and such, the design of the ATs starts of with that gulf.

I don't think my Scrapper will see the Von Gruen arc anytime soon. I'm guessing this will be a world where you can transfer your characters to this alternate world. I'm also wondering just how much it will set me back.

Wait.... let's take this one step further... what if, in the mirror universe, all heroes are villains and all villains are heroes... meaning, all stalkers are heroic and all tankers are villainous for example... but you play in the opposite zones? So, you can either play in the mirrorverse as a Stalker in Talos/Atlas.... or you can play a Tanker in the Rogue Isles... but when you go back into "our" world, it all goes back to normal again?

Both. I have a couple of "mercenary" villains who are not evil, but rather just willing to work for the highest bidder. They'd be just as glad to work for the good guys as Arachnos if it paid better and would be perfect for a "neutral" alignment... or failing that, switching back and forth multiple times between factions. I also really, really want to make a heroic Mastermind. I prefer playing the good guys but Masterminds are by far my favorite AT.

I think you hit the nail on the head.

And I think he totally missed the nail and almost whacked his thumb...

Where is the faction slider in this?

Our heroes have been to Preatoria / alternate universe before and never switched alignment.

My guess is that we will have a hero <--> villain meter and doing missions / whatever actions and choices will move that meter one way or the other. If you move beyond a specific point you will no longer be accepted by your old faction but will be able to go to the other. Thus having stalkers and MM under the Atlas statue and scrappers and blasters working for Arachnos.

After all, the only difference between a hero and a villain game mechanic wise is a simple flag...

Anyway, we'll see sooner or later.

"Nothing is impossible for the man who doesn't have to do it himself." ~Midnight Flux's former boss.

There are usually two sides to every argument but no end.

Everything placed above this line is always IMHO, YMMV and quite certainly not to be taken too seriously....

Everquest has a faction switching system that essentially is like a 'reputation grind.' You take a particular series of missions from a particular person. You slowly become the enemy of your faction.

Then you take a long trip to a particular other person from the other side, who then has missions to earn you minimal respect with that side... at which point you are 'converted.'

Which is a lengthy way of saying that I suspect there will be specific missions to 'increment' heroism/villainhood.

Heh, some of us already do this -- via Mission Architect.

My MA Mastermind will never see Rogue Isles, except to train up skills; I intended to level him up entirely in the MA playing heroic missions.
