Asking "Gambit" be unbanned for MA mission titles
Perhaps they need to set up a different filter for custom critter names, because seriously, you can't copyright the word "gambit," nor any other word. Perhaps Marvel or DC will introduce a new hero named "The" and destroy fiction entirely.
What if you didn't capitalize the "G" in gambit? Would it still get banned?
"Steady as a mountain, attack like fire, still as a wood, swift as the wind.
In heaven and earth I alone am to be revered."
- Motto on the war banner of Takeda Shingen (1521-1573)
Unfortunately, yes it still showed up as banned.

word filtering common usage dictionary entries is silly.

Make them pay for their f0lly! Use some form of leet-speak to get around it. That 'g@mbit' would at least preserve the original intent, while it works through the system. Gaambit. Gambitt. Gammbit. Hmnn.... Dad-gambit!
This is an interesting side problem that I certainly hadn't considered before. Lots of common words and useage nixed. Just try and say 'kung fu' in game. Wonder if it will work in a title....
Rend this space....

What's strange is I was setting up a mission the other night, and some half-finished word threw up the flag for a second. Couldn't figure out what it was, but I threw out some various words I thought wouldn't be allowed: "X-Men," "XMen," and "Wolverine." None of them showed up as flagged.

I'd bet this won't work either...I tried to make a custom NPC named 'Policeman' and it wouldn't let me because it contains 'Iceman'.
I put the word 'screw' into my mission text, as in "Don't screw this up," and I was told that I was a naughty boy.
Please play and rate my AE arcs! Just look for @Captain Titan, and you'll find them! Also, whoever made the Penelope Yin splash page needs to be told that spines don't work that way.
Something seriously needs to be done with the text filter in this game. You can't use the word God but Jesus is just fine.

What I find funny is that while it didn't allow "gambit", it did allow "phoenix".
I would like to add 'Sentry' to the list of names to be removed from the ban list.
Can we have the mission title list only be words blocked by the profanity filter?

Phoenix is a mythical creature that's been around for a LONG time, since the Egyptian times. It's also the name of a city and various sporting groups. Kinda hard to call that one "copyrighted."
Gambit, however, is a little more of a clear cut case. It's a word, no special history applied to it. A chess tactic, a sacrifice to obtain a better position. Pretty much able to be copyrighted as a name for somebody, but not as a word. Still, that's what we have the "Report for objectionable content" button for.
Edited slightly for clarity... I guess.

I have a mission where the objectives are to beat up four AV class enemies in a row. They are Apollo, Mars, Diana, and Minerva.
The word "god" is also censored in the editor. So that's why you'll be reading about "göds" instead.

You can't copyright the word gambit. You can copyright the character Gambit, but not the word itself. If it's not in a character context, it should be perfectly fine.

This.
for example Marvel doesn't own the rights to Thor, they own the rights to specific portrayals of Thor.

This is true, but you can trademark it, which is what Marvel has done. Marvel effectively "owns" the word gambit when it's applied in any kind of superhero context, which is the most likely reason why it's filtered in a superhero MMO.
And if I remember correctly, they also co-trademarked the word superhero with DC, so you should run that one past the filter and see if it slips through.

Sorry if this has already been posted and I missed it but I was trying to create a story arc called The Phoenix Gambit and to my surprise it wouldnt let me because Gambit is a restricted word. I can understand this if you are creating a hero since Gambit is a Marvel character but there are may book titles and even some movies have Gambit in them. Is there a way to change that so for a mission title it isnt blocked for a character name it is?
