A few accolade suggestions for the Hero Side:

Law Enforcer + Mortician = Crime Scene Tech (IR Goggles power)

City Official + Mortician = Coroner (Ally Rez)

Midnighter + Mortician = Undead Slayer (small bonus to damage vs. Undead)

Midnighter + Law Enforcement = Knight (slightly improved defense vs. mystical enemies)

Commuter + Law Enforcement = Transit Cop (some slow power for use on fleeing enemies)

Fashion Designer + ANY = (Uniform Designer [City Official], Fashion Mage [Midnighter], Fashion Police [Law Enforcer], Fashion Doctor [Caregiver], Trend Setter [Clubber], Trend Spreader [Commuter], etc ad nauseum) (Special Costume parts available ONLY to those possessing those Accolades)

Law Enforcer + Professor = Training Sergeant (Bonus to advancement towards mentoring badges)

Law Enforcer + Caregiver = Paramedic (Recall Ally, only when Ally is at or below 25% of health)

Law Enforcer + Shop Keeper = Retail Security (level-and-origin appropriate enhancement drop at the end of each mission once the necessary Security Level is attained [Security Level 12 for DO enhancements, Security Level 22 for SO enhancements.])

Ourobouros Logout badge (don't recall the name, sorry) + Day Trader = Inside Trader (Tech-themed Invention SET recipe drop at end of mission)

Midnighter + Day Trader = Relic Trader (Arcane-Themed Invention SET recipe drop at end of mission)

Given the heavy listings for "Law Enforcer + X," can you tell that I'm a Criminal Justice Major?

[/ QUOTE ]

Don't let just the villains have all the covert fun. Lady of the Night available blue-side as well. Working this 'day' job results in an extended period of reduced prestige to one's SG, due to tarnished reputation. However, the heroine is well paid in influence for her services, or perhaps for aiding Paragon's finest in undercover work.

Both red and blue side; progression in Lady of the Night opens access to special related costume pieces.

I'm not sure if this has been brought up, but I'd like to have my Day Job power(s) actual be able to be turned on (like a toggle) rather than just a timed 'auto' as soon as I log in. There are many times that the travel time to get to a mission seriously chews into the relatively short duration of these powers. In a role-playing sense, these 'added benefits' should either be there all the time period (obviosuly not viable in their current application/percentages) or there when the chatacter could USE them.

Perhaps placing the reward-increasing ones on a timer/trigger (for example, entering a mission starts the timer for the mission ender based ones and pressing the exit button stops it). Some would be on all the time (like Time Lord, Cimeroran, Pain Specialist, etc.), but others could realistically use this. And it could be tied to map-types. The game already knows to give you 1/2-debt on a mission map. Tie the timer trigger to that!

My 2 infamy.

How how about
Hunter= stand near a forest, Perez Park
Fishmen= on docks.

Both of them you can get a pet.

Now that we've had this Day Jobs thing for awhile, is anyone else getting the feeling that the real reason why they did this was to get people to stop logging just anywhere? Anyone know if maybe there's a server resources reason to be doing this? Most of the locations for Day Job badges involve leaving the major city zones for a store or hospital or other place out of the way of where mobs spawn.

Granted, logging near trains is still in a city zone, but not in a place where mobs are going to be on top of you the second you log back in. Other possible exceptions to this include PvP zones, the Arena, and the Shadow Shard. However, these are all locales where I imagine the Devs must actively encourage more players to go. I imagine this, because I purposefully avoid them, whereas zones I will go much more regularly are not DayJobbed. You can't just stand anywhere in Faultline, log out, and expect a badge upon return.

Maybe the Devs discovered that if a lot of players log out just anywhere, sometimes that causes lag issues, or otherwise creates problems either as the 30 second timer counts down or upon the player's return in that toon. Maybe if someone's standing in the middle of Steel Canyon next to Positron and they log out there, there's twenty other players in line of sight of that player that have to get from the server a message that Joe Schmoe is leaving and there's a thirty second countdown before he fades away. This could cause unnecessary lag for everyone involved. I don't need to know Joe Schmoe's leaving. Maybe just one guy doing it's no big deal, but what if several are doing that in several city zones at roughly the same time, during peak period of activity..? Was it an issue that the Devs addressed by way of inventing Day Jobs?

Has anyone else noticed this? Has there actually been a drop of people logging off immediately after a mish? Do people leave the PUG they're on, fly or run to the nearest hospital or university, go into a doorway and log out, out of eyeshot of players in city zones? Does this have a positive affect on the gameplay for others? Did the Devs really need to get players off the streets before they logged, or were Devs honestly just making up superfluous reasons to give away more badges for no reason than cuz it's silly fun? And it has NO further bearing beyond that?

Not that it matters one way or the other. I'm just curious.

They know poeple want badges, and they want money. It take 21 days to get one badge. Also you need to be logged out witch mean it will take longer while playing the guy.

You didn't mention WW/BM. As for that little message that so-and-so is logging out for 30sec... relatively small amount of resources to display a little text over a static character vs track their movements across your screen.

Nonetheless, I'm not bashing your theory. I do have an alternate one: although I don't know that it has any positive effect to the devs or the system, I see the change as a cause for people to spread their time around alts a little more especially with patrol xp thrown in the mix.

Of course, maybe there's no big reason other than the devs wanted to implement something new that they hoped would be well-recieved. And, like the invention system, you don't really have to pay attention to it if you choose not to.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So my hope is that with i14, perhaps we'll get to see a couple added day jobs. I think reporter and college student ("professor"? seriously, how many professors can we have in this freakin city??) should definitely be added.

And on a less serious note: am I the only one who sees an opoortunity for a badge by logging out at the trainers? GROUPIE!!!! After all, as it's been pointed out "Clubber" isn't exactly a job, so that whole money-making thing becomes a bit irrelevant.

I don't know what the Hero equivallent would be, but how about logging off at the WSPDR building in Cap au Diable?

Badge: Reporter
Description: You spend your off-time researching the recent events of the Rogue Isles, giving you a wealth of information about what your enemies are up to. Logging off at the WSPDR building will grant you a random Temporary Power when you complete a mission, for a set amount of time.

In short: Logging at WSPDR will give you a time-based buff. Completing a mission will give you a random Temporary Power based on the same list that Mayhem Raids follow. The reason being that you know about recent heists and therefore know what your enemies have stolen.

Accolade

Reporter + Thief
Badge: Infiltrator
Description: By using your resources and theiving prowess, no valuables are safe from your clutches. Logging off at WSPDR or inside a Vault Reserve will grant you time for your Sneak temporary power.

Sneak: Toggle, self Stealth.

Thoughts? I have no idea what the Hero equivallent would be.

The off-beat space pirate...Capt. Stormrider (50+3 Elec/Storm Science Corruptor)
The mysterious Djinn...Emerald Dervish (50+1 DB/DA Magic Stalker)

Please please please change time-based mission awards to be "tokenized" awards, that don't get claimed until you finish a mission. I would assume that the devs want to encourage team-based play as much as possible, but IMO the existing reward clocks encourage solo play, for folks who see it ticking down and exclaim, "Aaah!! I have to go do a mission before I lose my bonus!!" But with a reward token, they have time to check out their bids at Wentworth's, read and reply to any email, review the prestige standings in their supergroup, and take their time locating (or building) a team without the pressure of the reward clock(s) counting down the whole time.

You all massively fail for not posting this idea yet (except Ex Libris)

Reporter MUST be one of the day job options.

Edit: Also, I don't think the Architect would work, at least not with the SG base as the location; as it stands, if you log out there, you are booted back out the main portal.

Now, NEXT to the base portal on the maps might work.

Was thinking reporter as I was reading. Suggested location: next to a newsie.

[/ QUOTE ]

Ideally, it should be Mild-Mannered Reporter.

Sadly for the same reason we won't get a "Mild-Mannered Reporter" Day Job we likely won't be getting a "Playboy Billionaire" or "Newspaper Photog" either.

My suggestion for Day Jobs is for the Devs to make sure every badge/accolade that grants a bonus any kind (INF, ENH, Recipes, Prestige, Damage Resistance, Travel Speed, etc.) have a visible timer in their info.

Right now, some do and some don't.

There should be a day job badge for logging off in the sewers (for heroes) and maybe a similar badge for logging off in any "ruins" area (parts of Mercy Island, Grandville, etc.) for villains. Perhaps the reward would be a bonus to tech invention salvage.

I also think there should be a day job badge for logging out in or around water: swimmer, diver, ecologist, sailor, etc. Perhaps this could give a bonus to stamina or perception.

I am not sure if this has been suggested but how about turning the day job powers into a toggle so their time won't be wasted between missions?

How about an Aerialist day job for logging out on top of the highest buildings, say above 1500 ft. Get a small increase in flight speed as a bonus. I mean...we DO achieve terminal velocity!!
