I'm not convinced that all the maps we need are from scratch- there are existing maps in the game that need to be released for Architect use.
Despite all the features CoH offers, the game for some reason just does support zone weather, and this is something other MMOs feature from games as old as EverQuest to brand new MMOs.
I must call for the release of the Winter Event maps; this includes two winterized versions of Croatoa. The southwest farm region (and west of the tram station) for the Lord Winter battle, and the forested far east for the Baby New Year mission. There's also a winterized version of Agincourt island (sans Longbow) in Nerva Archipelago, where the Lady Winter mission occurs.
All three could be of great use for the mappers, even in completely non-holiday related missions.
The haunted house from last year's Halloween Event and Manticore's Mansion would be great fun to have.
Finally, instances of the four Shadow Shard zones would be a huge plus for us mission writers. -
We have three snow versions of maps for the winter events. The Lady Winter map is a frozen Agincourt island from Nerva Archipelago, minus Longbow and the gun turrets. Snaptooth and Lord Winter’s map are both portions of frozen Croatoa. The former consists of the river stretching between The Misty Wood and The Broken Teeth, in the region of Kelly Nemmers and Buck Salinger. the latter is centered on the farmlands of New Connaught, west of Salamanca.
The university’s location is marked on the map for the Baby New Year mission, but is the better part of 300 meters outside the closest mission boundary. A glance at this map and Lord Winter’s proves that Croatoa is mapped out entirely in a winter version, and I can say I would love to get access to this for Mission Architect, the same with frozen Agincourt.
I was very glad to get the long extension on the winter event, but I really would love to see the chalet remain open year-round. Yes, the winter events would no doubt stay seasonal, but why not keep the chalet up and running? In my humble opinion it’s easily the better side of Pocket D, and it’s great for the community’s role-players, who usually prefer it to the main club when it's open, and I found it makes a great spot to open up your AE comlink and work on your missions and custom characters. Having the ski slopes and chutes would be fantastic too.
Barring that, I think it would be great to get the chalet as an Architect map. There is a lot of potential for these maps for us mission authors. -
Quote:Excellent suggestions.Just brainstorming. I don't think we actually NEED new day jobs, BUT, if the devs were to add new ones (as some people have accrued most or all the existing badges), here's what I'd like to see:
Hive/Abyss: Raider. By studying the hamidon and its minions, you're better prepared for its attacks. The associated ability give you +10% chance of receiving an EoE as a drop when hunting the giant monsters in the zone.
In front of a sewer grate: Sewer Rat. You spend your time patrolling the sewers, and know them inside and out. As a result of working in the dark, you have a small bonus to your perception.
Near a power station: Electrician. You work with the Paragon Power Authority, and as such are tougher against energy damage (+3% res vs energy)
On a Beach: Coast Guard/Pirate. You work in and around the ocean, making you a proficient swimmer. +10% travel speed when in water.
Winter event chalet: Barista. Your work serving hot chocolate and warm coffee to freezing patrons brings joy to all. Because of this, you have a higher chance (+10%) of being declared "Nice" when opening Presents (note, this day job would only have a 10 day timer)
That's about all i can think of. Maybe have an accolade for Electrician/Sewer Rat for some kind of utility-related thing, i dunno. -
Quote:That’s more effort than we can reasonably expect from the devs I’m sure, but keeping the chalet open just so we can go there is not unrealistic at all. It’s all come down to a question of aesthetics.Clearly the solution is that, when possible, they need to make three new versions of the Chalet, so there's one for each season.
Fact is, I know the chalet and ski mountain never actually ‘goes’ anywhere. They can flip a switch or the equivalent, and turn it on and off.
Actually, it’s always there. When they turn it ‘off’ it’s just invisible. Probably exists in a separate layer; the 3D users here will at least understand that.
Stand by Trina the Icon rep in the VIP lounge; when you turn the right angle you can hear the Christmas music track playing. It’s always there.
Log out in the chalet before the patch that ends Christmas. Your toon will temporarily be standing in the open space where the chalet is, you might at least see some parts of it like the doors.
Like I said, all they have to do is flip a switch. -
Completely serious on my backing this one. If the Baby New Year, Winter Lord, and related tasks must remain seasonal fine that makes sense, but keep the ski chalet and mountain open year round. We all know its by far the fun side of Pocket D, and its always a shame to see it go. Some of us like to do the slopes whenever the mood takes us, and it doesnt have to be winter.
Hey, either that, or maybe Xmas mountain shifts into some open corner of the Shadow Shard between holidays
I have indeed done RP in Pocket D, and I do prefer the chalet to the main club. That being said, that is not my main incentive for adding my voice to this thread. -
Quote:In fact I DID do a search, and did not see the thread you linked. I dont have to be sorry for at least trying to find another thread, and Im not.Perhaps, you could have done a search first... per the forum rules you didn't read.
If you had, you would have found this other thread here, that basically makes yours a bit redundant.
Secondly, I am apologizing for opening a repeat thread, but to the forum mods NOT you.
You come into my thread, and open your mouth over an assumption. Whats more you were wrong. Yes, I saw your post before your edit cleaned it up, your attitude was unwarranted.
Thanks to the rest who offered the suggestion area. I surfed the forums before I posted and I looked for what I thought was a good spot to post this. General discussion seemed a good spot because I could find nothing else that seemed specific to my topic. -

Another player has produced a sewer mission that seems to work. It is set CoV sewer maps/small maps/map #19. Despite its small size they have it loaded with a Boss, Patrol, Release Captive, Ally, and a Battle. Hydra is the main faction, and although Ive run this mission several times, it always seems to perform flawlessly.
Someone suggest that they might spawn (roughly) in the 38-41 range but thats not it either. I am actually going to take my own arc and open the level range up completely to see what happens. -
We all know the editor is full of holes, and Ive found one for Hydra faction. Tentacle mobs cannot be directly picked; they are part of Hydra random spawn mobs, and can spawn alongside other mobs like Proteans and Spawns.
My problem lies in the fact that there is some glitch or set of unknown conditions that prevents them from spawning the great majority of the time.
I have tested and ran maps continuously, and tried to and failed to isolate the cause. Something is wrong. I tried to get rid of anything that might impede their spawning- Many of the selectable animations will work on humanoid shaped mobs like the Spawn and Protean, but it goes without saying most wont take to a Tentacle. They seem to have two animation cycles; writhe and attack.
Even taking this out of the issue, my elusive Tentacles wont spawn. Based on what I have seen, I thought they would spawn only on SOME sewer maps. I now suspect they will spawn on any sewer map, red or blue side, if the conditions are right.
Any observations or suggestions here? -
Before we ask for more new maps and burden the devs down with building more (if youve ever done 3D yourself youre not likely to be requesting it), lets at least ask to have existing maps opened up to us.
First and foremost, the Shadow Shard zones. Theres a lot you could do in an arc with those. -

Now allow me my rant about halos. I love the idea of halos. I have a couple of demon toons and one angel. Problem is that they are all well below 30 and given my extreme case of altaholism I won't be seeing 30 in all likelihood before next Christmas, or later.
I don't believe halos should be auras at all.
[/ QUOTE ]
This has been my feel on the halos as well. I like them and use them, but immediately found it odd they're classified as auras and not headgear. Only possible reason I can see is if the flame and glow animations stacked with other auras make a toon too graphically intensive.
Making them exclusive to level however, namely a 30th minimum, makes no sense whatsoever. If there's a reason the devs did this, it completely evades me. -

Lady of the Night - Standing on Street Corners - Power: Give Disease (short ranged poison attack fast recharge) - Villains
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't let just the villains have all the covert fun. Lady of the Night available blue-side as well. Working this 'day' job results in an extended period of reduced prestige to one's SG, due to tarnished reputation. However, the heroine is well paid in influence for her services, or perhaps for aiding Paragon's finest in undercover work.
Both red and blue side; progression in Lady of the Night opens access to special related costume pieces. -
Is it possible that the ski mountain in Pocket D can remain open in some capacity beyond the holidays? Frankly, it's too cool to close up for the rest of the year.
