2 things that I'd like to see in a COH2- the first being an effort to understand just HOW the players will use the tools you give them before they actually go live. i.e. Look for exploits that will be farmed and take care of them before release.
The other thing would be aggressive policing of the forums so that both "regular joes" and fan boyz get a fair shake. Your edict against "no" and /jranger type posts was at least 4 years late. Most of the people posting to the suggestions forum are actually trying to help the game, whether their suggestion is great or not. It would be nice if they were treated with an ounce of courtesy rather than ripped to shreds from every angle and the general impression that the game company agrees with those attacks.
I think that would help quite a bit - althought i suspect that COH2 will never happen. -
Well, I mean - there are only 12 of them to start with. What they should really do is encourage population on servers outside of Freedom and Virtue.
Encouragement should probably start with changing how a new player perceives the servers. High population servers like Freedom and Virtue should show up in a different color - maybe a dull gray or black text, and the others should be made to stand out more.
Beyond this, maybe allow x1.5 Influence on other servers. When the population balances out some, then shut the spigot off. -
Absolutely!
Great suggestion. This is something the game has needed for a long time. I'm sick and tired of relying on someone else to do what I should be able to do on my own with my own stuff (pithy enough reason?).
Don't mind the trolls in the suggestion forum. They always say "no" to good ideas. In fact, the more they complain, the better your idea probably is. -
Honestly, it's way too late in the ball game to be concerned about player exploitation. This game has a long history of it and hand-wringing management who just don't know what to do to stop the exploits.
MA has convinced me that the developers now accept farming/exploiting and are just trying to roll with it. Once upon a time, farming was done in PI - now it's in every zone and it's pretty much all that's going on. Don't like farms? Don't play this game. -
I'm in full agreement (with the OP) but - will this get noticed if it's not in the costume thread?

I would like for some folks to try my missions and give some feedback.
My intent was to make story arcs that are fun, complicated but not overly difficult with a story connected that you actually want to follow.
"Save Scampers" - neutral morality, Dr. Shivagogh has lost his favorite lab animal and needs your help to retrieve it. "Scampers" is a very special rat, able to communicate telepathically and control the minds of others.
Features: 4 missions, 2 "home made" groups, end boss is an EB.
"Obscene Clone Fall," neutral morality, William Mann's daughter has been kidnapped. He needs your help to track down his missing daughter. The only clues are a group of prank phone calls made to her fiance, a bigwig with Longbow, Commander McKraken.
Features: 3 missions, 2 unique mob groups (including a group of cloned rock stars) - and this is part one of a "two parter" which I shall publish soon.
Hey, if you try them, thanks very much. I'd be glad to hear from you. -
The exploiters run the game now. Why not give them what they want? Won't be long before they're the only ones playing COX.

There should be a day job badge for logging off in the sewers (for heroes) and maybe a similar badge for logging off in any "ruins" area (parts of Mercy Island, Grandville, etc.) for villains. Perhaps the reward would be a bonus to tech invention salvage.
I also think there should be a day job badge for logging out in or around water: swimmer, diver, ecologist, sailor, etc. Perhaps this could give a bonus to stamina or perception. -
I'm not even sure if it's that thinly veiled...everyone seems to know it but the OP.
At one point, circa 2 years ago, raising the level caps would have been a great idea - would have reinvigorated the game and brought old players back to ensure they still ruled the roost -- but at this point, I think it could only upset the folks who still play. -
What a rip off! I felt it was cheesy having to pay money for access to a bunch of costume peices, but then when I got a good look at what was actually in the package, I felt totally cheated. Hardly anything for male characters, and most of the peices added for female models were just variations on an existing theme. They could have at least thrown in the costume peices from the Spring fling event - as if I enjoyed running my every alternate character through an event that got stale two years ago...
I've been playing online games for over six years and never felt before that I was entitled to a refund. This is a first. Suffice it to say that I will never pony up the funds for another expansion/patch/whatever of COH. -
My favorite feature of I9 was the change in enhancement drops. The stores in KR were a close 2nd.
I was most excited about the new costume pieces. I have "looted" Piston Boots 3 times now and received no other significant drops. I play an average of 4-6 hours each day and I refuse to pay 10million+ influence for a costume piece which should have been public issue in the first place. Needless to say, I am quite PO'ed about I9. If I10 does the same thing with costume pieces, you can kiss my money goodbye.
I thought the consignment house was a nice addition to the game. It's unfortunate that you didn't keep to the "SILENT AUCTION" part of the deal. When players know exactly how much something cost (because they can see what someone paid for it) then they won't bid more than that. There's now an overstock on most items that will never go away, where players placed their item too high.
Overall I give I9 one star out of five. No new content. No new powers. There's only one recipe set in each category that players will really want, so the rest of them are (nearly) worthless trash. You assigned badges for selling which makes players sell at a ridiculously low rate just to get it over with, thereby devaluing the economy. I could go on. Of course, the paramount grievance was what was done with costume pieces. This will stick in my craw forever and a day.
