How do you spend your 'Double XP Weekends'?

The whole family is involved and playing all weekend! Starting at 3pm EST, all 4 of us shall be working our heroes and villains until we drop.
Focus is some of our higher level toons on Guardian with the Challengers SG; also our villains on the same server with Crimewave VG.

Sunday, I'm hoping to spend some time to get a few of my level 17-18 heroes and villains in and through level 20 so as to get the cape mishes and extra costume slots for them.

I know the servers will be busy, and I know Freedom and Virtue will be jammed, thus my prime server, Guardian, and the other lower volume servers will be my focus (not expecting a server lockout, but Ex did mention the possibility in a recent thread).

So, checklist:

Case of Soda- check
Snacks- check
No weekend work- check
Computer optimized- check

READY!

On holiday mostly. Since you always seem to run them when I am going away

Seriously. It's uncanny how they always schedule these on weekends when I'm out of town.

Q: How do you spend your 'Double XP Weekends'?

A: Hopped up on Energy Drinks, Placating Wife Aggro.

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

I usually log off for Double XP Weekends. I hate missing story content, and usually wind up debt farming to slow leveling down at key points so I don't skip anything.

Ouroboros helps a lot, but population density on Virtue will probably make it too crazy for my weak old computer to keep up with... we'll see.

hahah, wife AGGRO!!! rofl.

My wife is beating me to make sure I get home from work as early as I can so we can lvl up her troller! My wife is converted, so none of that wife aggro for me.

We plan to play from 3:30 - 4:00 today till midnight. Saturday my wife will be playing while I take the boy to soccer practice, and we have friends coming over so not much CoH on Sat. Sunday, however, is already dedicated to CoH all...day...long

Wife aggro, I feel for you guys I do! Convert The WIVES!

God, you're lucky. I'm always stuck with the misses on dbl xp. She would have just got back this week from travelling.

*sigh*
I wont be playing in the double xp weekend.
Again

Hopefully this wont come off to much as a rant, but if it does then please bear with me cause it isnt the intention.
The intention is to reply to the question put forth by Ex Libris.

This is the third Double Xp weekend. And it is a fantastic concept wich is allways higly populair.

It would be highly populair with me as well if it wasnt for one little fact: The announcement is allways to short for me to benefit from it.

I work as a Prisonguard/Correctional Officer, and as such evening, night and weekend shifts are part of my regulair schedule.
This means that when there is less than 1 month announcement of a given event, I cant plan to take the weekend off for it.
So this time, just like the last two events, I will be pulling double shift saterday+sunday= work from 06.00-21.30 both days.
Getting someone to take the shifts isnt possible and calling in sick when I am not is not something I am willing to do.

I hope all the rest of you have a blast.
And I hope that the next Double xp-weekend will either be announced 1 month ahead. (or miracleous fall on a weekend where I am accidental off, but that chance is slim)

Cheers
Daner

I feel for those who will be stuck working all day during this time. I used to have a job like that, and just a couple of years back too. Of course I got several days off during the week, but Fri-Sun it was 11-11.

I'll be working on my sub-22 characters all weekend. I expect my dad to sucker me into helping him Saturday (the perils of living in the same town as your parents), but Fri and Sat night, plus all day Sunday, should be enough time to get at least a few of them out of the miss-miss-out-of-end hell that is the teens. I despise the teen levels in Co*, honestly detest them.

Well, usually the 2XP weekends start while I'm at work, on the Friday morning. So I have to wait and try and do some work until 4.30, when it's quittin' time.

My husband will swing by and pick me up from work and we'll make a quick snack stop. Cause hey, we gotta eat this weekend. Then we'll head home and either start new toons with my husbands brother and sister, or get to work on a duo we played last 2XP weekend and see where the weekend takes us.

I put on a marathon of MST3K and grind, grind, grind.

I spend them not playing, because I can't get on my home server.

I log into freedom and start a mission then go to school and laugh.

I got some time in today, and just like the last double XP weekend I was in I can't help feeling that double XP feels like a proper advancement speed compared to the doldrums of normal advancement.

I agree, double XP makes the higher levels fun like the lower levels. Maybe the XP curve rebalancing will make upper game less of a boring grind and make it more fun like the earlier levels. Here's to hoping Posi is looking at the data miner's info and realizing the reason why there have ALWAYS been places where you did your best to shortcut: be it the old Dreck map farms, the Sewer Trial (back when Krakens and Monsters in general were actually worth fighting. REALLY worth fighting), or the clicky farm in Ouro now.

Maybe it would cut down on farming instead of just having to nerf something because players ended up 'exploiting' it somehow. Some people might just be too lazy to play the game no matter what. I dunno.

There should be a double XP day every month. Just randomly select it so the servers don't get hammered like they are this weekend.

I log into teamspeak, find out if anyone's on and what they're doing, and find someone who can join them. I try not to burn myself out on a single character.

The fun part about these weekends for me is not really the XP. It's the fact that my SG makes large blocks of time available for gaming, so we can get big fun teams going.

I spend my 2XP weekends on packed teams running missions trying to push the limits on just how much world saving (or domination) can be done.

Posted

I spend Double XP weekends at work, then play during the week. Too bad they never do double XP during the rest of the week.

I got on my level 50 tank and then my level 25 fir/kin troller on my second account and beat up Banished Pantheon a lot. By the end of the weekend, he was level 33.

So mostly I played with myself...

Uber Talgrim - level 50 emp/dark defender
Uber Rod - level 50 dark melee/regen scrapper
Rod Valdr - level 50 invuln/SS tanker
Talgrim - level 50 ninja/dark mastermind

OMG!! Please add these costume designs now!

In hindsight, I spent it trying to play my 3 "in play" alts on Virtue, and spent most of the weekend getting dropped during zones ins, having my team wipe under heavy server lag, and watching my mates drop right and left.

It was "Double D/C weekend" - If I'd had any alts currently in play on a smaller server, I guess I would have had a positive experience. Unfortunately, I had the misfortune to roll on Virtue at release and I keep developing mains there.

I gave up Sunday morning - it wasn't worth the hassle. Here's hoping that the next double xp weekend will occur on hardware able to handle it, so those of us on big servers don't get shafted.

I played for ~3 hours Friday night, ~6 hours on Saturday and ~8 hours on Sunday. For about 2/3rds of that time, I was in a group of 4-8 players, the rest being spent duo or a very small amount of soloing time.

For all of that, I gained 2 levels on a Brute (23-25), 1 Level on a Controller (14-15) and 13 levels on a Defender (19-32.)

I did not do any task forces, and did almost none of my own missions, spending most of the time sidekicked to level 38-40ish mentors doing their missions (My SG was trying to get a bunch of characters to 39 for the Eden Trial.)

Overall, I had a lot of fun...can't wait to do it again!
