Found a couple interesting parts in that wikipedia article that was linked earlier.

Attributed to Carl Jung:
[ QUOTE ]
... He symbolises the One, who proceeds from the clash of opposites, and he therefore constitutes the secret of the prima materia which [...] unquestionably stems from man's unconscious.

[/ QUOTE ]
And unattributed/uncited:
[ QUOTE ]
It is furthermore a common symbol of the science of Cybernetics

[/ QUOTE ]

On the surface, possibly refrencing the conflict introduced in the Rikti War zone, and maybe pointing a finger toward the Freakshow? Intriguing, I cannot wait!

If I were arctic sun, I would have it say "Dooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooom" in 38 point size, bookman old-style font and color as bright red as the monitor can handle.

This is probably why they don't let me talk to people in my current job...

[/ QUOTE ]

I think posting something as simple and yet as mysterious as this - the day before I leave - is tease enough!

cheers,
JS

[/ QUOTE ]

You suck, J.S.

Doom.

Yep.

This is really doom.

Well, he *is* usually referred to as "The Eternal Nemesis"....

And his reputation is certainly taking a shellacking in the I10 RWZ story arcs.

Not sure about the 5th Column, but it sure looks to me like the big Stanley Steamer is going to stage a come-back in I11.

Speaking of teasing...have you read the Paragon Times? Either this is Arctic Sun's way of tweaking a lot of members of Cryptic or our favorite short Task Forces are about to go away in I11...or both.

Katie Hannon and Ernesto Hess are listed among the dead, along with Sara Moore and a bunch of others, including numerous contacts!

Yeah, and the information about Outbreak has Talos quarantined and infected overruning Mercy and Grandville. Odd.

Its a stylised Ouroborous for sure.

"It has been used to represent many things over the ages, but it most generally symbolizes ideas of cyclicality, unity, or infinity"

[/ QUOTE ]

It means that I11 and all further issues is a re-release of I10. Cutbacks, you know.

I think some weird 'end of the world' type stuff is going to hit in I11 - Just wild guesses but: The residents of 'Outbreak' are going to appear more often outside of the zone [and count towards the badge: I reason this by the tiny statement of how Coyote regretted bringing heroes into the zone], We might see a new system of sickeness that has to do with the Outbreak virus [maybe new mutations]. The infinity signal either means a new villain group [/old one reappearing], or a twist to one of the current groups [and since it seems to be of stamped metal, Nemesis does come to mind]. It can also mean the end of all as is known... with a twist.

Yeah, but killing off all those NPCs? That's a major blow to the content of COX.

I think we're all overanalyzing. Look at the image, what do you see? A snake, in the shape of infinity. The meaning is clear.

In Issue 11, every villain group will be infiltrated and taken over by the Snakes. There will be infinite Snakes. FreakSnakes. Banished Snakes. Embalmed Snakes. The Carnival of Snakes. Snake Head Gunners. Snake Protectors. Serpent Snakes. Legacy Snakes. Snake Mitochondria. Snakes of Artemis.

ALL WILL BE SNAKES.

Issue 11: Go. Hunt. Kill Snakes.

While we are using the greek word "Ouroborous" for this, I don't recally greek art stylizing images in this manner. Of the top of my head, I'd say Aztec or Norse would be more likely with both Quetzalcoatl and Jörmungandr being depicted as unending serpents. Admitedly, neither culture used the lemniscate so this is either a confabulation with something else, or I'm headed of down a wrong tangent. The third Reich did study a fair amount of Norse mythology, however, and attempted to combine some of it with science, particularly with theories like Welteislehre that seemed to provide a direct conection between the two. Medieval artists also tended to sylize things greatly, so the idea of this being alchemical also holds water.

If I had to guess with just this to go on, I'd either go with a reborn 5th column, or an alchemicly powered Blood of the Black Stream.

Edit: Or something having to do with Nemisis. I admit that it could be far simpiler than I made it out to be, and could just be a stylized infinity symbol. I don't have anyone the right level for the renewed Rikti Warzone, so I didn't know there was a bunch of stuff about him in there. Time to get cracking with my highest level non-50.

Ouroborous, check.

Infinity symbol instead of standard circle, however.

The style of the woodcut looks Nordic to me.
