My guess?

The Wikipedia article also talks a lot about alchemy and mysticism in connection with the Ouroboros.

I think that there was a lot of criticism of I10 and how yet another opponent group that dropped principally tech salvage would skew the game. I think the next big group will have a mystical bent. Could be any one really. Maybe even old CoT will find some big, bad Trigon-like being who's going to enter the world (invasion part deux!) and we all gotta stop him.

Ok, there's my 2 cents. Now off to read the newspaper article.

I would love for that to tie in somehow. The clues I am seeing just to seem to link to that in any way, though. He really seems to be talking about Recluse's tower as the second one.

I always thought that the 'second tower' wasn't built yet. He seems to be referencing an Oranbegan effort, not an Arachnos one.

Added:

Ok, the Breakout article is WRONG. The break out was not stopped. It's the whole villain arc, how each of us villains get our start. Jenkins was not captured, the longbow agents who overpowered him were defeated and Jenkins was rescued. I know this because *I* did it!! (Several times, in fact. )

And as other's have pointed out, many of the dead listed in the Outbreak article have not died. Hmm, isn't the point of the Outbreak tutorial to deliver a sample so the plague can be stopped? It's been a while since I paid attention to the tutorial text, I'm not actually sure....

Yes, but put it in the context of his other quotes. He references Recluse's Victory not being yours, and Recluse's tower contains the time portal to that victory, and is definitely a "tower to the heavens" that's still not done being built (listen to the Arachnos Bane Spiders welding on the tops of it).

That and "when it happens again" doesn't clearly imply that the next such tower has to be built by the Oranbegans.

Okay here are my speculations on both the wallpaper and the article.

1) The wallpaper, like a lot of the replies here, could symbolize infinity. The head biting it's tale. Which can mean being able to go back to the start, the start of what? I don't know.

2) The Flashback system is starting to look even more possible that it is coming. But I believe it is only the tip of the iceberg.

3) The article looks very different from what is in the game in terms of what's happening. Speculation: The article we just read is something from a different dimension, an altered timeline, where none of us were able to stop Outbreak, nor villains going out of Breakout. What's the best way to get rid off all the heroes and villains (the player characters) in both Paragon and the Rogue Isles? Never have them start out from the beginning.

4) With all of this, this could mean we may have story arcs regarding time travel to fix these said problems, to correct those timelines.

5) Who is the villain(s) doing behind these? I don't know, but I could guess Nemesis (yellow wallpaper symbol and all) or perhaps the 5th Column (with all the rumors going around).

6) Another wild speculation, I have a feeling, with the whole head-to-tail thing, we may see some way to even flashback all the way from our character's beginning, all the way to the tutorial, where all the news from the article is going on.

That's my take on it. Speculations and hypothesis only of course.

That is an interesting thought. But I was under the impression that Recluse's purpose for the tower was nothing more than the antenna for his Web device. Of course, that's not to say the Circle around the Island can't try something with it, like with Aeon's PTS. Then again, with the main devices broken, maybe Recluse does have a 'Plan B' installed.

Seriously, though, all I get from that is that it's likely we'll have a new faction to fight. Let's hope and pray that there are new tilesets to go with it, like the Rikti got.

I'm going to have to go with Time Travel on this one. The Newspaper articals are both about the world if the Tutorials "Went Wrong". The Outbreak plague sweeping out across the world, the Zig remaining escape-proof forever.

In otherwords: What would've happened if (Your Hero Name) wasn't there to do the work.

Flashbacks/Altered Timeline Missions/It's A Wonderful Life-style storylines? Who knows?

There had just better be some mother-fooshing 5th Column involved or I will be quite irate.

what if the ability to go back to the start wasn't a time based idea, but instead was the ability to change your character into an incarnate. the end of this life the beginning of the next, yet life doesn't stop kinda deal? i seem to remember that they wanted to fit in incarnates after the 3 issue ark was completed that contained the faultline redo. having incarnates and the fifth colum both in the same issue would work with that crazy richsman.

Hey, how about the ability to re-choose your powersets on your character. Through something similar to the respec trial. Now that would be cool. That would be consistent with the new moniker in the wallpaper.
