    PVP Caging

    Hey Neuronia and Psoma!

Yeah, I let him keep my account active while I was gone. Despite my "DEVS RUINED PVP!!1!" anger, I figured it wasn't worth denying a friend an IO'd fire/kin. (I've been gone so long, is that still even the farm toon?)

I am planning on reinstalling and taking a look around either tonight or tomorrow. Nice that you can turn off all the stuff in arenas, but yuck yuck yuck that suppression is still in zones. The thing I loved most about CoH pvp was the movement, and it sucks if you don't have that when messing around in zones. And if I'm correct that no HD means no heal decay, which means there still is heal decay in zones, well bleh.

Hopefully I'll be able to get in a game of kickball or something at some point, it would be a shame to come back to visit and not be able to do my favorite part of the game.

    PVP Caging

Lab has been trying to lure me back with rumors of fixed suppression and nerfed cages.

    How does suppression work now?

    And then there were none.
  4. Best of luck, Lighthouse.

When I think back to the days of Cuppa and Cricket, it really makes me realize just what a wonderful job you and Ex have done as community managers.
  5. I'm still giggling that:

    1. Posi thought Doms were bad in i12.

    and

    2. He thinks they'll be better under the proposed i13 systems.

    Like, what?
  6. A note for future readers:

This FAQ/Guide to Guides is no longer a good reference.

None of the above (barring Inspector 6's accolade guide) is going to be useful or applicable to i13 PvP. I would advise against relying on any of the above guides.

The FAQ is also now incorrect. Other than "How can I get people to respond to my post?" and "Is X cheating?", the answers to the questions are outdated. If you have questions, ask them yourself.

If anyone would like to write a future update, there is no need to PM me. Best of luck to those who are willing to write guides and sort out the new PvP.

That said, if it were up to me I'd recommend unstickying at this point. Better to have no information than misleading information.

She also pretty much stole the idea from 6. He had an idea for a PVP TF. I remember 2 of the mission ideas. Defeat r0x and his guards and Rescue Terra Lord (WD's stone tank).

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't think "allow mission architect to include PvP missions" counts as an idea stolen from 6 so much as an obvious thing that many people on the boards have already asked for. If I suggested "Make a TF that takes your through the PvP zones dealing with common PvP zone characters, eventually culminating in a 'defeat ir0x0r and guards' mission you get to via an arena terminal," then yes, that would certainly be stealing from 6.

PvP missions are a top 5 on the wishlist as well as a frequent topic in S+I. Making PvP missions part of mission architect has been suggested in several different MA threads by several different people. It's about as much a plagiarized idea as "selectable arena maps plz."

i can haz mayhem mission arena maps naokthx?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd also accept the ability to create PvP missions in the mission architect
  9. Posi,

Do these badges have progress bars? I know a few things don't (gladiators and fabricator I'm looking at you), and these are the sort of badge that, to me, will be very hard to keep track of and keep the spirit to keep going without a bar to show I am, indeed, making progress.
  10. Just to put on my badger hat, 30 days per badge when it's not an epic level badge seems a bit much to me. If there were only 2 or 4, and it was something you could do in 2-4 months, then I'd be fine with it. As a badger, it just feels too long to get the set and too long in between badges. I'd really like to see each badge reduced to somewhere in the 10-15 day range.

Also, I'm hoping some sort of arena log out badge is one that's just been left off the sheet rather than not done. One for logging out in the PvP zone bases would also be nice, but understandable if it couldn't be done. (Not all of them are inside, after all.) On behalf of us badger-PvPer hybrids (there are more of us than you'd think!), it definitely felt like something was missing by not seeing either of those there. If they're not in the works already, I hope you guys look into adding them.

Does anyone know what server After School, Ascension, or Challengers are from?

Are there any SGs or VGs that you think should be listed that aren't? SGs/VGs should either be practicing on test or planning to do so shortly.

  16. My big "they really need to fix that" right now is confuse being on its own suppression cycle. It breaks the pattern of all other mez effects and is just plain illogicaal.

Broadsword's knockback not suppressing is a long-standing bug that's become more prominent post i12.

The "map not available" for the seige tower arena map was also forgotten.

There are a few more that I'm just not thinking of at the moment.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
Other than what ex posted, were there any other changes? I glanced over it and thought I saw a few that might have been fixed already.

    Yeah there are several more.

Villains have no access to ally grantable +perception in Sirens. Either switch the order of sonic repulsion and clarity or add it to thaw or the ice shields. Priority Issue – LIVE

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Ex,

are you referring to O2 boost from Storm summoning or /thermal /sonic secondaries that corruptors get. (I know it seems like a dumb question but I'm asking because you already mentioned storm summoning earlier in your post so I figure I'd ask anyways)

Last I checked, clarity isn't available by SC and Thaw doesn't give +perception.

Figure I'd post in here seeing as how your PM inbox must be jammed or you don't check them

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think it's safe to assume that she means the problem "Villains have no access to ally grantable +perception in Sirens" has been fixed. They added +perception to O2 boost in i12 Beta after a few of us mentioned that proliferation might be a good time to fix the villain lack of +per. The language is just copy/pasted from the original wish list entry.

Perhaps we should have another vote for a revised wishlist after i13 hits live. Ex Libris made a post several pages back highlighting the items already addressed by the development staff.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's my thinking too. We could even start compiling the list when i13 goes into open Beta, but certainly not before. There's so much we don't yet know about i13 that doing an update now would be a bit of a waste.

Since team size on non-SG matches caps at 8 people, new people who want to play are often shut out of matches. Allow non-SG matches to be greater than 8v8. Priority Issue

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not sure what you mean here by "non-sg matches". Matches higher than 16 total players will create a lot of lag, and that is something we don't want in pvp. I wouldn't make this a priority issue, but something to consider down the road.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Johnny,

Just to clarify "Priority Issue" was just the term I put at the end of all the issues that received a certain number of votes during the voting period. I think it might've been >12 but I don't actually have the spreadsheet on this computer to check. We also separated the top 5 issues that had the absolute most votes. (Each of the ones that made the top 5 got like something like 50+ votes.)

In the arena, one of the options you can select (the one auto-set to custom where there's stuff like pentad, duel, team gladiator, etc.) is "Super Group Rumble." Only two SGs can participate, but you can have way more people on a team than just 8. (Off hand I think it's 32 but someone could go check and correct me.) This is what used to be used for SG vs. SG matches back in the day, which were often 16v16 or 12v12. The system is able to handle them, and while they're a bit laggier than 8v8s, it's really quite manageable. The idea is that you should expand the ability to do matches larger than 8v8 to people who don't want to all join two supergroups just to participate. How much does it suck when there are 18 or 20 people who want to do pick up matches, but only 16 get to play unless everyone's willing to drop SG tags?

To me, it feels like it *ought* to be an easy fix as it's something we know the arena is capable of doing. I've seen people who have wanted to join kickball and been forced out plenty of times, and it just flat out sucks. It's especially bad because, when it is done kickball style you generally have the first picked 16 get in, so it's the fat kids (who are generally the newer players) that get shut out. This is one of the changes I really hope they make when pohsyb (or whoever) gets around to taking a look at the arena UI. Easy change and big QoL improvement.

Not the right place to post this but, if they close test again for beta and leave all PvP SGs out...I think the ladder will fold.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think they will follow through on what they decided on last time...

The top hero and villain rosters get into closed beta. I don't think they will allow everyone in because the devs thinks it creates too much "noise" during beta testing.

Its not necessarily the behavior thats the main issue, but the amount of posting that the devs and managers need to sort through to find the relevant comments. Its not that pvpers don't give relevant comments, many of us do... however, usually each relevant comment from a pvper (and pvers alike) are followed by 5-8 posts containing one to two phrase responses that the devs call "noise". Even though that shows our unity in disagreement or agreement to that one relevant post, the devs just want to hear the valid arguments, debates, and than decide the best course of action among themselves.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Noise is psypunk telling people to go die for reporting PLing exploits on the beta boards...

They're not going to let all the PvPers in because of the eggs thread. Even if this generation of pvpers is slightly more well behaved than the last, the memory of the mess that was i11 beta is going to keep us out. That said, I do expect several of us to make it into the early rounds, and I wouldn't be surprised if the top two teams also get an invite for wave 3 or 4 like last time.
