Any of the devs have previous MMORPG experience?

Sheesh, the devs sure are lurking tonight.

Quick! Someone see if they can trick them into revealing more I9 and Inventions info!

I have played:
....Gemstone III, Dragon Realms, Meridian 59,...

I include GS3 and DR even though they are text-based, simply because I feel they set the foundations for what players come to expect from a massively multiplayer game.

Wow. I just exponentially increased my respect for Posi. Possibly the truest words ever spoken on this forum.

Both are where I started with online gaming way way way back and both are still the standard (immersion wise) I hold allgames I play to.

I took Gravity for Wormhole and Propel.

Heh, Posi is a fellow SWG refugee? I wonder what race/build he was most fond of? Were you an imp or rebel, Posi?

And not that he'd ever answer this, but I wonder how many CoX design decisions were based on, "boy X and Y were annoying as hell in SWG!"

i'm surprised to see so many devs playing WoW... aren't they the enemy?

Wow, 2 devs that played AC2. Don't suppose we have anyone from harvestgain around here?

Played? Sure. Me personally: Dark Age, EQ, Anarchy.

[/ QUOTE ] Wow, someone else who played Dark Age, I don't run across all that terribly many.

Rather fun game for what it was I though. <shrug>

In AC1 I was on Thistledown. Man it is so nice to see that someone else will know what I'm talking about if I mention the Rabbit.

Ahh AC the good ole days of hanging at Fort Teth and running for the walls with pack of Shadows chasing.

Or the infamous mistake heard at the lifestone, 'I thought it was an Azure Grommie, not an Ash Grommie!'

I really miss those days. I'm hoping that I9 brings back the feeling total control over my build that I liked so much from the early MMOs.

Or having to Buy (and have enough room to carry) more Spell components because you could... *gasp* actually run out of herbs and other material... and start to *fizzle*!

That and the fact World of Warcraft is a decent game in itself. I know some people here dislike it but it is still overall a very good game.

Wow, this is the redname rampage I heard about.

City of Heroes is actually Cryptic Studio's first game, ever, MMO or otherwise. But these guys came right back from role-playing roots, which can't be a bad thing. Go retro!

No, hours upon hours of playing EverQuest and PlanetSide did that (not to mention all those other games that I shouldn't mention, cause well these are the CoH forums). But then, I don't design the game, so you are safe!

Honestly I am not suprised by the amount of games the devs have and do play.

As for them playing WOW beside teh fact that perhaps it is a interesting break for some of them. It also is a good business practice to study what does and doesn't work in the competition. This allows them to take the good and toss away the bad so to speak by learning what the other guy does.

Posted

Besides, it probably ain't quite as fun playing a game you spend all day working on. XP

Wow this is just like when CoH first went live, all the red names responding to a thread. Have not seen that in a long time. It is nice to see we are still liked. Hope to see more red names take an active roll again in the community.

All the red and green in this thread...it's like Christmas. *cries*

MeeP!!

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

I beta'd and played release for a few months if that counts. :/

Still the greatest game soundtrack ever IMO. Beautiful, beautiful music. To bad the rest of the game was broken beyond belief.

I am shocked that not ONE of the devs has mentioned Horizons so far.

EDIT

Jeez, I put that there thinking no one else would've thought to mention it. Not only did they, but there's a mention of it just above mine. So much for me being clever.

What a horrible, horrible game.

The instances are so nice and interactive. Everything else is meh.

And here I thought I was the only one who played that. Now I feel the urge to hop in my BFR and aid the Vanu on Markov to crush everyone.
