Dunno. I have 2 charactrers that have used more than one Respec. I have 1 character who had to earn one to use it. THe rest are just lying about unused.

I would if what they sent me was a consumable like pens. Lunchboxes don't really get used up.
I try PvP on many of my supers and villains, find my current powersets lacking for that environment and thus must respec into another power pool or choices.
In all honesty, would it really kill the developers to give us one free permanent respec to our level 30+ characters...so we can play around with things?
It would look like "Welcome to the City of Heroes, Neuronia! You have 1 free respec available." And that 1 free respec would always stay there. I think it would be wonderful to always be able to tweak myself...I hear in that "other game" you simply pay money for the ability to do so.
Here...you have to wait till level 24 if you've mistakenly taken a power or taken a power you regret later, then every 10 levels or when a new issue arises.
Not only should there be a Respec given with Issue 8, there must be a perma-spec among the veteran rewards; it will definitely fuel the creative and pvp desires amongs those of us who go: "I wonder how THIS works?" but never have a chance to find out until we backtrack.

Just so you guys know there are players out there that have extremely gimped builds, that would not survive the respec trial. Believe me on this I seen it first hand. Once I realized their builds I had to quit because there is no way we would survive that.

If we really are getting a respec as a veteran reward, I hope its a higher-end respec then normal (aka, allowing you to change power sets or name or something). A reward that duplicates something that we get from multiple quests, holidays, and issues just doesn't have that special unique feel that I would hope most of the vet rewards would supply.

But they've pretty much decided on it at this point, giving respecs when there have been no major changes. So... at this point, I'd expect one, but like others... not really appreciate it.

I had by my standards today an extremely gimp build in i2 when the trial was introduced and managed to complete the trial. The trial aint that hard.

I agree to a point. I just think they should give out a respec every issue. Not because it's needed, but because they have given one out on or around every issue since 3. Also because Statesman told me more than a year ago they were looking to create a unlimited respec trial for level 50s which we are still waiting for.
The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

Shuffle around 67 enhancements more than once a year? Please god no! Takes a bloody hour.
Actually, I've yet to use a second respec on any character I own, most of them have 3-5 'banked' against future major changes. Probably because I just don't feel that optimax perfection is a) acheivable or b) necessary. Or maybe I'm just good at making good stable, flexible builds, I dunno.
But watching characters swap back and forth between PvP and PvE builds daily....no, I think that's quite a bit too much to ask for.

That's probably the best reason I've heard for a freespec in this entire thread.
I've never had to use up all three earned (trial) respects on a char yet, despite all of the major power changes that have gone by since I3...there have just been too many free respecs given out.
Just as a side note, power balance and whatnot aside, I don't really enjoy having to respec a bunch of chars every release. So I don't, I mostly just live with what we're given, respecting only a single char at most and attempting to use gained slots to adjust for changes.

Acually they HAVE said what their policy is try checking their old posts before complaining.
They give free respecs when there is a change to the game or builds which would significantly effect players such that they may need to respec their characters. They may also give them out as a reward such as deemed fit by the Devs such as Christmas/Anniversary or CoH etc. But don't count on those they are at Devs whim.
I8 doesn't have any changes to game play or changes to sets so there is no reason for a free respec. I felt it was obvious there would be no free respec.

Issue 3 - Regen got nerf-beaten.. respec for them
Issue 4 - Regen continues to be beaten, holds tweaked along with Travel Supression, and i think HO's were changed..Respec for that
Issue 5 - GDN, coupled with HO's less effectiveness.. I.E. major power changes.. Respec
Issue 6 - ED.. nuff said
Issue 7 - They were NOT giving a respec with these, but, with summoned powers getting new tech, (Rains are buffable, same with burn and pets then) Respec.

No, there have definately been changes to various powers since the last issue launched. Whether those changes were major or minor largely depends on whether they affect you or not. :-/
Personally, I think it's a mistake to limit respecs to a maximum of three that requires completion of a group task. Giving out free respecs is a nice way to redress the issue, and once an issue (give or take) seems like a good rate for it. That way, no matter how screwball your build, or how unpopular your gaming time, the sun will always come out in a few months at most.
I suppose veteran rewards could similarly solve the problem, but it would take a fairly ongoing set of respecs to fix the problem, and for most veterans (who just don't respec anywhere near that often) this would wind up being a fairly lackluster reward.
So really, why not add a respec with each issue? It doesn't cost the devs anything to do it, and they don't pile up.

I've never done a Respec on most of my characters. My Controller just hit 43 and hasn't done a single one, free or otherwise. I've used several free respecs on characters that were impacted by the changes in certain issues. (I'm looking at you, ED!) I've only used one earned Respec on one character.
I can see how sometimes you could Respec into something bad and need to Respec again to fix it, but hey, that's what the test server is for. How are people breaking things so badly they need to Respec this often? Is it a Min/Max thing? Maybe that's why I don't care about them. I don't pay enough attention to the numbers to know if I'm "borked."
