Why would you want to talk about anything BESIDES computer game!?! Its a multimillion dollar industry that helps drive PC technology and home electronics advancment. Its an interactive entertainment that tops passive "you tell me what happens" entertainments like tv and books. What are you talking about? Oh thats right...you kept to yourself. Like a loner. Serial killers are often loners.

The story I related in my post predates the internet, so computer games didn't even come close to table top RPGs. -

Did something like that one time... Went to Burger King in garb after a Shire business meeting. A lady asked me if I was in the SCA - and I couldn't help but respond "No, I'm in a play!".
Non SCAers may or may not get the joke....

I was in a semi-active Counter-Strike clan a couple years ago. we signed up for CAL and whatnot. turns out most of us lived pretty close to each other, so we met up for beers. I remember the first time, I couldn't stop myself from calling everyone by their handles instead of their real names. picture five late-20's, early-30's seemingly normal guys sitting around a garden table in a bar, surrounded by whiskey and beer, arguing over strats for Dust2. even now if I happen to give one of them a call on the phone, it's always, "hey monkey, it's scarab"

MMZ is a former gaming clan turned turned drinking crew. The clan totals over 300 people but only 40 or so are active much anymore. -

Kidding, of course- your posts are actually very rational, centrist, and only mildly absurd rants of impending "meh".

I think we got the best looks when we pulled out the full size grid maps of middle earth and began putting pins and markers out to plot troop movements.

The sound of dice on a table is rarely something a proprietor wants to here. Once we convinced him we weren't gambling, they never bothered us at Dunkin' Donuts again.

Heh. Being a gamer geek may be slightly more acceptable these days, but the day a 30-year-old scary-looking guy is able to chat up a bunch of pretty 16-year-old girls without attracting the attention of law enforcement...
...may never come.

True story:
When I bought this game originally back in Whenever 04, on my home with it I stopped at a Long John Silvers for lunch. While sitting there reading the Prima guide (it came free with the game), I overheard these five teenage girls at a nearby table. They were discussing runewords and skills in Diablo 2. Having spent far too much time in that game myself, I immediately recognized what they were speaking of.
No, I didn't say anything. I was pushing 30 at the time, and they would've just decided I was macking on 'em. I didn't have anything to add anyway, as their character of choice was Barbarian and I liked Amazons and Assassins.

When I was younger, we used to play Champions at my friend's dorm. We'd play for hours and hours. Then at the wee hours, we'd head for home. But not before going to Dunkin Donuts and talk about the game for a few hours afterward. Possibly making new characters or trying to make some villain or hero from a book or movie.

This ability to attack phase-shifted targets is part of that evolution.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hrumpf!
Back before Phaseshift was gutted (Pre CoV) many people, my self included, suggested that phased characters be able to attack each other rather than the now in-place, kludge of a fix to keep Masterminds in check, was implemented. The official response was, essentially "We do not want to do that because who is to say that all people phase in the same way." or to use Champions terms, every ones phase shift special effect was different.
Now that get tossed out the window for Hami?
Bah. Just remove phaseshift from the game already, rather than keep nipping pieces off it's decaying carcass. The power is still useless in the developer stated role of an Oh crap! power because of the activation time (which was promised to be fixed, but I doubt it has been). -

In MMORPGs? A thousand times no.
[/ QUOTE ]
I enjoy it in FPS-style games where in-game resources tend to be uniform, and victory is a function of player/team skill and/or experience.
Anytime it becomes a function of having better loot or involves stark rock/paper/sicissors? Forget it.
In this game? No. It can be enjoyable on a mass scale which tends to smooth out the things above I dislike. In general it revolves around them too much.

You know if you did anything informative with your posts ever, people might attach importance to what you said. If you need me to dig up your posts on the all blaster TFs where you describe the team wipes, I can. However if you prefer to delude yourself and toss insults as you normally do, feel free.

My first question is why would you want buffs to be less effective on the hardest missions? It makes no sense.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have a theory. If you make buffs (and debuffs, by extension) less effective, then you bring us back to the Holy Trinity of MMOs: DPS/Tank/Heal™.
This way, the game will be fun for everyone: Damage Dealers (Blasters, Scrappers), Tanks (Tankers), and Healers (Defenders, Controllers).
Currently, Healers are confused because if they team up, they can do something that they shouldn't be able to do, as Healers: deal damage. If we remove the temptation, they can return to the role that God intended for them: non-stop Healing.
